Ôba, lá vem ela

It frustrated Roland just how set Mara was on this, but he admired her far too much to really voice it. A sigh did burst from his nose to give it away, but beyond that he really didn’t do much. His eyes scanned the horizon and the trench in which the patrols moved back and forth. They had a shot, but it was anything but easy.

[ What if we trailed alongside the trench and tried to keep low? Prone? ] Rae signed at her two partners.

“I was just about to say that.” Roland whispered. “It’s risky as hell, but we could maybe sneak past them that way? Either above the trench or right below it. We can find cover and move with our smarts rather than grace.”

[ Using thunder to mask the door might work, but we need to be ready to just push for it and hope for the best. ] Rae looked at Roland and then Mara.

“Either way we need to get around the guards rather than through them.”

[ Yes. ]

Rae looked over at a nearby crate.

[ We might get a better look of the trenches if we push ahead for a bit. ] Did you even see her sign in the rain and dark?

Mara was on edge, there was no denying nor any point in hiding it. This operation was practically everything to her, she needed this to ensure she survived another day. It might be an extreme way of looking at it, but Mara knew she couldn't disappear until her very existence was erased.

Digitally speaking anyway.

She was mentally going through every possibility, where everything could go wrong - for both her and the others. It was a pretty damning mistake for an agent and Mara cursed herself when she caught herself falling into that loop. She had been taught to keep her mind focused on the mission, to not let things such as chance and possibility dissuade you.

If you were even a half decent agent, you wouldn't let either dictate how the mission went - only skill should.

I can't think like this...just breathe...

There was too much riding on this.

"Let's move then." Mara took point as they headed towards the crate Rae had indicated. She had been fairly correct that it gave them a better view of the patrols. It was now more clear; just about through the rain at least, that the group moving along the trench gave a simple nod to the door patrol before moving on. It didn't give them the biggest windows to slip in unnoticed.

"I think we have maybe a few minutes between the two patrols crossing."
