2500 Posts, holy cow ~ Jonyna milestone feedback

I just noticed I passed the 2,500 mark.

Jonyna has been through a rollercoaster over the last 6 years of writing her. Started off as a level one not-even-a-padawan, to now a jedi master as part of the council.

While I understand most won't understand the journey she's been on, I'd love to hear what people think of her time on Chaos, even if it's just recent stuff.

Jonyna Si is memorable both as a character and as a Jedi. I still remember that one scene where she finds my OC, Minerva in the midst of her sorrow and anger toward what her former comrades wrought. Jonyna really showed her hard earned wisdom in that story. Especially the part about looking for the good instead of being consumed with the cruelties around the galaxy.

Just curious do you feel the character starting slump after 6 years or are just hitting your stride? Jonyna has goals I assume? Youve achieved a lot, curious to see what growth is out there for her.
Honestly, I thought I'd hit a slump somewhere along the lines in the last 6 years, but I really haven't. The key has been keeping her goals vague, and being willing to reinvent her every so often.

When she started, she was just a spunky rebel with a blaster and a sword. Didn't even have a saber, wouldn't get one till about Year 2 of the Tabletop game she started as part of.

Then I brought her to Chaos about year 4, and completely reworked her power set to catch up with the power scale, mostly because I wanted her to be a pretty decent fighter amongst the cast of Chaos. Still the scrappy underdog at the time, but standing amongst the others as someone with experience.

Over the last 2 years on Chaos, Jonyna has grown into one of the heavier hitters of the NJO, and someone who has done plenty to make her stand out.

Nowadays, I'm shifting her into a heavy support role, someone super focused on reconstruction within the NJO, and acting as the Sentinel of Harmony.

Down the line? Her relationships are still development, but I do want her to become a married woman at some point, and a mom.

The character is ever evolving, and I want to keep her evolving.

As we are the most familiar with the characters that we write, and therefore spend the most time with them, there is a phenomena that I have experienced in roleplay (going on twenty years since I began in 2005) where the opinions and perspectives that we have for our own characters do not necessarily add up to what others see or think about them. I recently came into contact with another writer on this board who clearly had a heavy self-sense of superiority and strength for their own character which did not add up to the opinions of a large majority and that has led them into troubled waters, to say the least.

We haven't spoken properly in over a year. This isn't anything necessarily for a personal or bad reason. We just haven't been in the same circles as we were before when I rejoined Chaos in February 2024. Our conversations together, back then, indicated someone with some self-awareness, so the concept of 'main character syndrome' is something that, perhaps, you are avoiding, and with good reason. My feedback then, given some context, is to not allow your own ideas or perspectives about Jonyna go to your head.

In particular I would avoid the pitfalls of so many other people and their characters where they come to see or have the opinion that their character cannot lose to someone else's character before of reasons A, B or C. One of the core themes of Star Wars, in my opinion, is that anyone can get 'got' by everyone, or anything, regardless of who they are, or what they've done.
