A Change of Pace

Real power can't be given. It must be taken.
Upon entering Opara's chambers, Dorin would be greeted by a grotesque sight. Hutts were known to be overweight slugs, but the Duchess' body was very much excessive. She had an overabundance of flesh on every part of her physique and it would be a miracle if she could move unaided.

When Opara heard what Dorin said, she would only let out a gagging laugh which mocking the person who opposed her. What followed was a response in Huttese. Hutts were known to talk in their own dialect in order to assert dominance over who they spoke to. A protocol droid would later translate the response to basic, "Opara the beautiful laughs at your presence here. But she wonders why you have made an appearance here and spoiled her evening."

No blasters would be pointed towards Dorin, however there were multiple guards scattered around the large room, some were hidden behind slaved dancers.

"Oh, YOUR evening has been ruined." Dorin brought his glove to his helmet, and wiped the blood splatter off, casually flicking it in Opara's direction. "I've been shot at, spit on, but yes, YOUR evening has been ruined. My heart bursts in agony at how pitiful you find your accommodations." Dorin transferred his sword to his right hand, twirling it a couple times as he turned a full three-sixty, eyeing each and every henchman. "I'll say this once, and once alone. Outside, two of your brothers are bleeding out. Three more are dead. You want to die for the slug, you go right the f*** ahead. Rest of you have sixty seconds to get out."

Dorin returned to face Opara, muttering another incantation, and sliding his left hand down the blade of his sword. The blade sprang to life with a crackle of electricity once more. "I have a warrant for your arrest, Opara. Given to me by a member of Coruscant security. Or so he claimed. Someone expects you to die tonight. I want to know who."

Although Dorin's offer would be tempting to most people, he was not fully aware of how much these criminals worshipped the Hutt. This wasn't just their employer, it was their whole life. Without Opara many of these people would be with no direction or organisation. She had taken many of them from the slums and offered them a life of luxuries.

The Duchess would continue to laugh as Dorin spoke, before finally replying to him. However, this reply came in broken basic. "Kill this karker." These were the only words that were spat out but they were enough to cause the room to enter a frenzy.

Various insults were thrown at the assassin before three guards would charge at him. Two guards next to Opara fired their blaster rifles at the lone man. The inaccurate fire would cause one blaster bolt to hit one of the charging guards. The Duchess would scoff at the idiocy of her people.

Dorin brought his sword up, spinning around to slice off a leg from a charging guard, and bringing the point up to impale another (as he was shot by one of the other guards) in one single flowing motion. He pulled the sword out, stepping back to thrust an elbow spike behind him into the third charging guard. Finally, he rounded on the two guards shooting at him. He threw the sword at the one on his right, which punctured the guard's chestplate and released a surge of electrical energy. The other, he simply brought his left hand up, sending a shockwave from it that knocked the guard off his feet.

He strode up to Opara, and pulled his sword out of the guard's chest, pushing the corpse off with his foot. He turned back to the slug, and almost causally brought the sword down, inflicting a large cut across her body. "You of all people should know when it's time to stop insulting your guest, Opara. I was going to help you. Now...well...best apologize, and I'll be kind enough to turn you over to whoever it is wants you dead."

He brought his sword point up, pressing it against what passed for a throat for these beings. "Piss me off again, and you will die. Right here. And you will beg me to end it."

The Hutt was in disbelief at what had just occurred; she was too scared to reply to anything that Dorin had said. Before another word could be spoken by either of them, the holo-projector that was provided at the start of the mission began to flash and buzz.

Upon bringing out the device, a silhouette would appear via a live stream. It was unknown who this person was and a identity could not be figured by the little information currently being provided. Soon a voice would ring out from the device, "Well done Dorin. Watching you work was a pleasure." This would make it obvious that someone was watching them, but who was it?

"I would like to work with you again, but loose ends are unwelcome in this business." The stream would cut out as the holo-projector released acid, destroying it and all the content within.

Although it was unknown to Dorin, outside a speeder had pulled up on the other side of the wall that lead to the street. From this speeder large blaster cannons would fire into the room, piercing the concrete structure. Those operating the weaponry could not see what they were shooting at, and so they would spray the room with blaster bolts instead to ensure the kill. The intent was to kill both Dorin and the Hutt before they would start the speeder and flee the scene.

Dorin didn't have many perks in this line of work. It was often him just scraping by on wit and luck. But there was one thing he did have that he was eternally thankful for, even if it was a byproduct of his cursed bloodline. Mere moments before the turrets started firing, warning bells went off in his head. He didn't know what, he didn't know from where, he just knew he had to get down. Now. Dorin dove to the side as the room was obliterated in a shower of bolts, wreckage and shrapnel flying every which way.

He crawled along the floor, moving towards the wall where the turrets were firing from. He eventually managed to drag himself up to a sitting position, leaned up against the wall, down in the corner where the turrets would not fire. He looked down at his torso, and saw a red stain from where one of the durasteel plates had been punctured. He grunted quietly, pulling his feet up underneath him, and crouched in the cover provided. As soon as there was a break in the blaster fire, he pushed forward, sword drawn, sprinting for the speeder.

All cameras within the structure had been destroyed by the heavy blasterfire and so the watching benefactor of this mission was temporarily blind. But the view from the speeder showed the bloody, lifeless corpse of the Hutt; Duchess Opara was definitely dead. Those in the speeder had assumed that one of the many scattered bodies was Dorin and, with the sound of approaching sirens from the law enforcement, they wouldn't wait to check. The driver of the speeder would then accelerate at the top speed capable of the vehicle, attempting to flee the scene.

Law enforcement were now very close to the scene and they knew the situation, so they were equipped and ready for combat. As of now, they were under the impression that Dorin was apart of a rival gang who were looking to assassinate Opara. Unfortunately for him, the evidence was stacked against him and the law were sure to take him into custody. To stay a free man, it would be a good idea to flee immediately.

Meanwhile the speeder driver was given instructions to dump and burn the speeder and all equipment at location deeper in the depths of the city.
