A Dance of Blades (Karren Trask & Muad Dib

The lightning and fire disappeared as he nodded to her statement.

"Very well. Then let us do this one at a time. Fire. Every culture has embraced fire. It gives life through heat, protection, comfort while also retaining the ability to destroy. To me fire embodies the force. It can give life or give death. It's neither inherently good or evil, but it's purpose depends on the wielder. Now there are two aspects of pyrokinesis and two ways to utilize this skill."

As he spoke he moved to stand next to the woman and faced in the same direction as she was.

"Both utilize the same principles. With one you use telekinesis to attain the end result and with the other you use an ability called pyrokinesis. Many do not have this specific ability and do not attempt to learn it through the more common ability of telekinesis."

Raising his hand he motioned for her to mirror his actions.

"With pyrokinesis you are strongly attuned to the force. Pull it in, let it full you. Notice how the force echoes in everything around you. Let in create a resonance within. Feel it fill you. Focus on the force within. Your body cries out, life breeds the force. Action breeds the force. Feel the minute interactions within. Every breath pumps into your body, every exhale. Now focus on your breathing."

As he spoke he closed his eyes despite the stranger still holding her unlit lightsaber loosely in hand. Breathing slowed as he focused on his breath.

"Every breath continues the cycle of life. Every inhale brings the air into you where it becomes part of you. Every exhale has your essence. Now focus on this. Concentrate on the air leaving your lungs. The intimacy of something that was once a part of you brings a deeper understanding. Understanding this will make it easier later to do this."

Across the room a pillar of blue flame burst into existence, wandering for several moments before disappearing.

"Now focus on your breath. Look deep. See the particles, the molecules. For one gifted in pyrokinesis they can sense the agitation within the molecules. The possibilities within each are endless. All it takes is sensing the molecules, showing the force to flow through you, and infusing the molecules with the power of the force to manipulate this ability."

Lowering his guard he would allow Karren to sense what he was doing. Breathing slowly he copped what he had said in slow, methodical movements that rang out in the force. He could sense the molecules. Now having an affinity with the force ability and many years of experience he could manipulate and create fire without thought. But this was him showing another how to do this, so he slowly and carefully went through the process he had just given the instruction on.

"This can be done calmly and with serenity yet it's easier to tap into your emotions. And despite what the Sith teach, rage and hate isn't the only way to grasp the power of the force. And the Jedi fail to see that emotions can fuel and focus you. But to each their own."

Smirking for a moment he then focused upon the molecules once again. Still remaining open to the woman he breathed deeply again and began pulling on an emotional state. Anger always swirled at the surface of the mad man, but deeper resonated a stronger emotion. Passion. Passion for life, for combat, for friends, for life. Letting the heat of the emotion fill him he transferred the force into the air molecules and watched as they altered and then burst igniting the air with pops of small flames.

Dropping his hand he looked to Karren allowing her to attempt the manipulating and infusion of the force.

Karren nodded and then knelt, both hands placed palms to the deck and bowed her head. As Maud talked her through the philosophy she worked deep breaths of air into her diaghphram, breathing from the bottom of her lungs. The breathing exercise she was familiar with as the basis for almost all her force utilization.

Focused mediation, walking meditation. Whatever they were calling it these days.

Maud spoke of passion and emotion fuelling the fire. She had a bit of different idea, and copied his technique, except it was mix. A flurry of emotions and her manipulating the air currents and atoms to vibrate with great intensity. Until they returned to her a small fireball, no bigger than her palm.

It floated in the air, captured in a telekinetic stasis field and she rose her head, eyes opening. A grin split her lips as she held the small ball of fire between them.

"Like so?"

A small smile crossed his face. While some had the ability through pyrokinesis, others could virtually do the same with their telekinesis. Nodding his head in satisfaction he opened his have and created a sustaining flame. Blue flames swirled around his hand.

"The next part is easier and yet, more difficult. You've created fire. Now to feed and direct it. Fire is like a living thing. It breathes. It has a will. In wants to do what it was made for, and that is to spread. How to manipulate it? One way is you feed it. Things tend to go where the food is."

Focusing he caused the molecules of air above the flames to begin to heat, and as the molecules of oxygen warmed they began to become more susceptible for combustion themselves. The flames rose toward the molecules and Muad began to create a path for the flame.

"Another way is to use telekinesis to move the flames themselves. Push the fire where you want it to go while pulling concentrated oxygen into it's path. As you do this you create the avenue of the flame."
