A Day in the Life of One Who Belongs

"Tank actually sounds like a really good name...if Jason likes it too. I think you thought of the perfect one."

Giving him a peck on the cheek, when they were not around other people, Ra showed emotion around him. Helping him gather up the plates to wash, she emptied her hands and got out the stuff to make the sandwiches. Taking a moment to pause while the other two wandered off to get ready, she wondered silently if she was too reserved when they were around others. She would have to ask him.

Smiling a little as she listened to the sounds of an excited child and the heavier steps of her partner. Turning her attention back to the task at hand, she made up several sandwiches, bagged them up and placed them in a cooler by the time they returned. Wiping her hands on her pants, she turned with a smile to them.

"Are you two ready? I was prepared for this already. Just need to grab my towel...unless one of you thought to grab it for me."

"Tank... Yeah, I think that could work. What do you think, Jason?" he inquired towards the child who seemed to be contemplating the name, then looking to the dog... And then a big grin spread across the face of the child.

"Tank! He's a big tank!" Jason chirped, and Josh laughed in turn. "Yes, yes he is. Tank it is" he decried. Oh good, he was glad they had gotten that bit of business out of the way. "Welcome to the family, Tank" Josh spoke towards the pup, giving their head a good pat. His hand was soon after covered in slobber. With that, he went to get Jason ready.

Soon enough, they returned, and Josh handed Ra a towel in turn. "I gotcha" he promised with a smile as they headed out. When Jason wasn't looking, Josh reached over and playfully grasped Ra's rear end. A receipt for her affection earlier, subtle enough to escape Jason's notice.

It was nice that the home was right on the beach. They didn't have to go far at all to get into the water.

Giving the pup a pat on the head after Josh did, her hand was also soon covered in slobber. Wiping it off on the towel her partner handed over to her, she hung it around her neck and almost giggled when he gently grasped her rear end. It was probably pay back from her showing him some affection. This Ra could live with and was happy.

"Should he be leash trained?"

Pointing at Tank who was waiting at the door for them to open it, she thought it would be a good idea to get him used to it. If they ever took him out in public, the Rest, or any place where there were others, he should be on a leash.

"I have a belt we can use today. When I go into the market next, I can get him a real leash. If you want."

Opening the door, Tank took off with Jason running behind him giving chase. Shaking her head, she ran after both of them actually laughing at being able to have fun. Looking back over her shoulder, she wondered if Josh would also get into the spirit of the day.

"Probably best" he agreed when Ra brought up the subject of leash training. While they had property spanning far and wide, he didn't want the puppy getting lost before they knew how to get back home. And this was a decently sized island. Losing them, they could be gone a long time before they found them again, if they did at all. Ra suggested using a belt as a substitute leash until they could get a real one. "If you can adjust it so it doesn't choke him, aye I think that works"

Once Tank was leashed, Ra opened the door and the dog bounded out eagerly, Jason after him. Despite his small size, Ra would need a strong grip if she intended to keep a hold on the leash. It was clear this was a strong breed. Not surprising considering the background he'd gotten them from.

At least Tank seemed friendly with Jason, and didn't go too far from him. Josh meanwhile started to laugh at the antics before him as he would chase off after them. Indeed, he seemed to be getting in the spirit of things. Here he was home. Here he could be himself. He didn't have to be anyone else. Just him.

"That's an easy thing to adjust!"

Getting the belt on him and fixed so it would not choke him, she was tugged out of the door by the pup. Of course, she would have expected this when he was bigger but not yet. Taking a stronger grip on the belt, she ran after Tank and Jason. Hearing Josh coming up behind her, she laughed with him.

Eventually, the puppy started to slow down a little and walk more with them than tug her along. Looking down at him, Ra smiled and turned her head to Josh.

"He's a quick learner. Already he's walking and not pulling hard on the leash. Though I think it'll take him a few times longer before he won't do it when a leash is first put on him. How old do you think he is?"

Holding out her empty hand, she hoped her partner got the message and would hold it.
