A desolate place

[Corvus Raaf]

Corvus had asked Enya to accompany her on what was in theory a relatively routine mission. These things never seemed to turn out that way but her Padawan needed a break from the routine of learning and the change of scenery would allow her to put her training into practice.

Waiting at her ship, she welcomed Enya with her customary bow, before indicating they should enter the craft.

“We are off to a planet I’m sure you’ve heard of – Tatooine. We have received word that a fellow Jedi went missing on the planet. It’s not part of the Republic, so we need to be sure we don’t upset anyone or break any laws. Our brief is to search the usual avenues and turn something up."

"Do you have any questions before we get underway?”

Enya walked up and bowed her head in greeting and smiled warmly. " I Have, been there once or twice before when i was younger, with my mother." Enya said after she spoke. She brushing a hand threw her long black hair as she liston. " no. I do not have any questions right now.. I'll ask if i think of any though" She responded folding her hands behind her back and smiled a little.

Corvus smiled. "Well I have only been there once, so that makes you the local. As we travel, you can tell me what you know of the place. My previous visit consisted of precisely two hours on the ground, collecting a package for the Jedi Order. There was an interesting encounter," she looked pensive as she remembered Hunter and what might have been, but she soon snapped out of it.

"Can you fly a ship? If so, head up to the cockpit and prep us for take-off. I'll finish any checks back here. And when we travel, we can continue your studies - it's a big enough ship to handle most requirements."

" its very dry." Enya said with a soft laugh " and yes i know how to fly. " She said headed up the cockpit and sat down in the chair. she looked around a bit before preparing the ship to take off before she flew the ship out of the spaceport.

Corvus took her time to reach the cockpit. Enya seemed to know what she was doing and she didn't want to crowd her - or make it look like she was watching over her.

Finally she sat beside her. "Have you had a chance to practice Force Sight yet?"

Enya glanced over at her for a moment before responding "I did a little bit but i feel asleep kinda earlier than i normally do" She responded

Corvus smiled. Every Jedi was different. Some studied and worked hard to achieve any mastery of the Force. Others, like Enya found it came relatively natural to her. Corvus was definitely the former.

"Tell me more about your mother, I'd like to know about her - if that's OK with you."

" She was a wonderful person, she worked hard and enjoyed it. she always said i was just like her when she was my age" Enya said with a smile " theres really not much to talk about" she said

Corvus nodded. With every conversation she got to know a little bit more about Enya.

"I always feel like I'm asking you questions. Is there anything you'd like to know about me?"

" i don't mind questions" Enya said smiling " But no, theres really nothing i can think of asking" she said watching out the window of the ship at the stars for a moment before she looked back at her.

Corvus sighed and realised it was audible. So she smiled. "Enya, when we arrive on the planet, I'd like you to take the lead. I am here to advise - but I want to see how you apply being a Jedi in a real-life situation as opposed to a training room. It should be enlightening for both of us."

" alright, i'll do my best" Enya said smiling as she leaned back in the seat " i remember when me and my mom where on Tatooine i ended up with sunburn" she said laughing a but " That was not fun at all"

Corvus made a note to check the medical supplies for sun-block. "Sounds like you had a lot of fun. What did you and your mother do when you were here?"

" visiting an old family friend who invited us to stay on their farm for the week. Sadly the friend was killed by some wild animal years ago" Enya said with a smile " that was a fun week.. can't really remember how old i was then but i remember the week like it was yesterday"

"Memories can do that to you. The powerful ones remain as fresh as can be. I remember my Master on Corellia and some of the things he taught me. Those were special times."

" yeah they can be wonderful. some can be very painful.. then there are some that leave you wondering how you even remember that " She said laughing " like like how i remember seeing my first shooting star when i was like 2"

Corvus looked out at the stars. "I never get tired of looking at them. How they're different depending on which planet you're on. And every one needs us - serving the Republic and keeping the peace."

Enya smiled again and nodded " I've always loved the stars, there just relaxing to look at. Theres so much amazing things in the Galaxy.. and people and many other things. Even if allot of those things are not all that nice or even pleasant to look at. Thats why i chose to continue as a Jedi.. to help the Galaxy like my mother once did"

"It is a very honourable decision and your mother would be very proud of you. I am sure one day you will become a fine jedi in your own right and the galaxy will be a safer place as a result. And you are right, a lot of what we see is less than perfect - but that's why we are here I guess. In a perfect galaxy there would be a limited need for Jedi."

Enya smiled and looked at her " Thank you. And i know what you mean..But as i see it nothing will ever be perfect, people would still complain about stuff even if it was because they would want something to be there way or no way"
