A Family Life Day [Past]

Josh smiled broadly at Ra when she returned his affections. “Good” He spoke softly. “Wasn’t sure how you would handle it, these affairs aren’t really something you’d be used to I suppose.”

They would bring the food out from there. After a good hour of conversation and eating and drinking and making merry, things were starting to wind down. Jason was showing Jair the book that Ra had given him while Josh was tidying up. The home in Kashyyyk was small so there wasn’t much to clean up but they did have guests over.

After a bit of a lull in the action, and Nick had called Jair over to talk about what she had said earlier, Josh would wince as he was hit in the back of the head by a nearby Life Day ornament. He’d sensed the use of the Force and turned to glare at the nearest person to the ornament, which was Nicholas.

“Really?” He grumbled, expecting some kind of grin.

But no grin came. Jair had gone out of her way to assuage his worries and he had been calm for a little while, doing his best to keep that calm going. He had been planning to thank Jair when a cylinder would fly off the wall, past his head and hit his brother in the back of it. He’d turned to stare at him and got a glare in turn.

“Wasn’t me” He remarked defensively. “Might have been your wife. She seems the type to pull that kind of joke” He spoke, pointing at Ra.

Ra-

"You are totally correct in that these aren't something I normally do. Live and learn they say."

She shrugged her shoulders slightly and followed Josh out with the food. Taking a seat and getting into things, she lost track of time. With no need to watch it though, she just enjoyed the small respite and family time together.

As they were wrapping up, JOsh was hit in the back of the head with an orniment and blamed Nick. Rightfully so too since it seemed he would be the one most likely to do it. When Nick blamed her, he got a very dirty look, but nothing else. Shaking her head in denial, she kept a hold of her temper.

"Wife? We're not married."

There was surprise in her voice and she looked at Josh with a questioning look. It implied that maybe he had told his brother they were just to make things easier.

Jair-

It was nice to get back into some sort of holiday spirit and Jairdain enjoyed herself. It must have been interesting for Jason to try and show her the book he had been given since she was blind. He would need to describe the images and tell her what they were. What she imagined was quite vivid and colorful. When it was time to move on, they stood up and she felt a surge in the Force and heard something hit Josh in the head.

"Are you okay and who did that?"

It wasn't Ra, it wasn't Nick, it wasn't Jair , and the more that Josh thought about it, the more he realized he could recognize a presence in the Force shortly after it was thrown that he didn't... Well, recognize. As he gazed about the room, curious of some sort of intruder, he tracked the trace to...

Jason, who was staring at Josh and giggling loudly, likely in regards to the thing that had hit him in the head. It took a few moments before it registered, and Josh's eyes widened, his pupils shrank and his expression was that of obvious shock and horror.

His worst nightmare had come true. Right in front of him. On a day that was meant to be a happy day for the family, the one thing that Josh would have never wished on Jason had come to pass. In order to protect the privacy of their home on Naboo, Jason would have to be trained in order to control his power and be able to hide his presence when they were here, just as anyone who stepped into their house was instructed to do. And with that training would come the pressure to walk in his father's footsteps. Pressure he did not want put on him.

Josh slowly looked down, feeling like he was going to be sick. But the Force was a gift, he knew. One deep down he was happy Jason had inherited. But he was sad too, for as much of a gift, as much of a blessing as it was... It was a curse as well.

Ra- It did not take Ra very long to put everything together. She and Josh had talked about just this situation and she reached a hand out to him. Taking his into hers for a brief moment, she gave it a squeeze and let go. When this whirlwind of a revelation happened, he was the first person she went to comfort and support.

"It'll work out, Josh. Someway, somehow."

Letting go of his hand, she could almost feel the dread he had. Maybe those lessons she had taken in empathy had actually helped or she was that much closer to him. It didn't really matter as long as he knew she would be there for him through it all.

Jair- She focused through the Force at each person present and quickly figured out the answer to her question. What she did not understand were the negative emotions Josh was feeling. When she learned Marcus could use the Force, she had started to try and teach him. He would never be as strong or powerful as she was, but he did have a strong base to grow from.

"I am unsure if I should say congratulations or give you my condolences."

Josh let out a sigh. There was nothing they could do now. But then a terrifying realization hit him. Jason would be able to be sensed now. He couldn't control his power. That meant that he could be found, could be recognized, and until he could figure out how to at least control the tempo...

He turned to Ra, staring at her a moment with big eyes. He took a deep, strained breath.

"Ra..." He spoke softly. It was clear he'd just realized something horrifying. "We can't go home anymore. Not for awhile. It would risk discovery."

Jair-

As if Nick and Jairdain had disappeared, the conversation going on was between Josh and Ra only.

"There are methods that can used on him to keep it hidden and secret. My gods know it is something I can do if you wanted me to. Master Dragonsflame, you don't need to be afraid. I sense nothing bad will come from this."

Sometimes it came in handy to be one deep in touch with the Force. Jairdain was connected with the Force in a way not many were. At times she had the ability to sense what might happen and so far her visions had never been proved wrong.

Ra-

Nodding in support to what Jairdain was saying, she looked at Josh.

"My own master did something like that to me. For several years I never knew I could use the Force and then a couple more before I learned what I had been. Once my powers were unlocked though, I already knew how to mask my ability. That isn't much help, I'm sorry."

Those last two words could mean almost anything right now.

"He's a quick learner. We'll be able to return eventually."

Giving him a quick smile, she looked at the other two and then Jason.

"You're going to be fine."

Nick was completely silent, unable to find the words. As for Josh, he would listen as Jair would offer solutions. He took a deep breath, shaking his head. "It's probably best to lessen our visits to home just in case" He would admit softly, biting his lip. He didn't like the idea, but at least he was willing to listen to Jair and take the idea. But it seemed he was still being cautious nonetheless. Ra would note that Jason was a quick learner, which made him feel a little better. Taking a deep breath, he would nod his head in turn.

"Let's just enjoy the rest of today for now. We'll look at what has to be done tomorrow."

[End, Cue Timeskip]
