A family that lives on

Taking a look around us, I smiled as my child held onto my right hand. Even at his age of ten years old, Ignis was a young boy who was all about having fun. Within the bio-dome that had been made way up into the mountains of Arkania, he let go of my hand. Yelling on the top of his lungs to push him on the swing. His squeaky voice making me smile as I turned around to the other side of the swing. Resting both hands on his back.

"Are you sure you want to swing?"
"Yes!"
"I don't think so. You don't sound excited!"
"Come on dad! PUSH ME!"
"Oh fine I suppose."

I chuckled lightly as I pushed my child in the swing. His laughter filled my ears. Knowing that he was still happy after seeing him grow up from the young infant, to a child, and soon would be a young man. It felt like only yesterday I had left the Primeval and their religious ways. I wanted to so badly go back and see of the Host Lord was still alive, see if Rave Merrill was still breathing, and even a fight with a rival of Jericho.

I shook my head at that thought. I had to be more focused on my child. My son. My blood. His screams of pushing him higher into the sky met my perfect ears.

"Come on dad! Push me higher!"
"Are you sure you want to go that high?"
"YES I DO!"

It seemed like only yesterday he was just small enough to fit the length of her arms. Lexa watched the two from a distance out the window of their small home. Nikolas was a wonderful father. He spent almost all of his time with Ignis. Their beautiful baby boy. They played together, talked about everything, and went everywhere together. At night, they'd even play a little game where they'd start a story and continue it back and forth until Ignis fell asleep.
It felt so surreal for Lexa. These past five years had been the most wonderful of her life. She finished the sandwiches she'd been working on and carried lunch outside to her son and her lover.

As I pushed the young boy, I could hear the door open to our rather humble home. I could see the paper plates that were in her hands. The plates having sandwiches on each one. I smiled and pushed the boy once more when I spoke to him. Letting my voice carry between myself and the house.

"Look what mom has!"

I could hear the gasp from the boy. His voice clearly filled with happiness, and joy. I slowed the swing down so he could hop off it. he jumped and landed. Almost falling over onto the green grass as he rushed over to Lexa in his bare feet. I smiled as I walked over. Ignis running straight for the sandwiches that were being placed onto the table, I started to get my fatherly tone.

"Ah, Ah, Ah! What do you say Ignis."

He stopped mid bite into the sandwich just before his teeth could tear the bread. He looked at me with a rather shameful look, then realized what he was supposed to do. He smiled with the sandwich still a few inches from his face as he exclaimed.

"Thank you!"

I smiled and walked over to lexa. Wrapping my left arm around her, I pulled her close to me as our son began to devour the sandwich. Leaning down towards her, I planted a kiss. Smiling as I pulled back and whispered to her,

"Thank you darling. You saved me from the ravenous beast known as Ignis."

@Lexa Kimene,

Lexa chuckled, returning a kiss on Nick's cheek.
"I'm glad to see I wasn't to late.~"
She sat down next to Ignis, taking Nick's hand and guiding him down with her. She hugged her son warmly and ruffled his hair a bit.

Sitting down next to Lexa as she ushered me to, I reached down to my own sandwich. Grabbing it as right hand came to squeeze her shoulder slightly as I took a bite. A nice lunch meat sandwich using bantha beef slices, cheese, some greens, and condiments to make mine rather spicy. Oh I loved spicy foods. While Ignis may like them, he was not quite into them as I was.

Smiling at that thought, I continued to eat at mine. Even from the inside of the dome, I could begin to hear a flapping sound. Ignis head lifted up with a smile. While my mouth was full, I motioned for him to stay down. He frowned and started to try and convince me to let him come with me. Ignis loved being able to play with Nemesis. Nemy as he called her. I smiled every time he did it. Even as I said that, the little boy spoke with food in his mouth.

"Tell Nemy I said hi!"

I nodded my head with a smile as I stood from my seat. And as I did so, I froze.

Something was wrong.

"No...."

Lexa could feel it, too. She looked up at Nick very seriously. Ignis looked up at the both of them questioningly. No doubt he could feel something as well...
"Ignis honey, why don't you carry these plates to the trashcan in the kitchen? And wait for mommy there, okay?"
He was about to protest. But she gave him a look that told him not to disobey. So, he took their trash and trotted inside. The moment he was out of earshot, Lexa stood up.
"Do you have any idea what it is?"
