A force field that'll stop a sandcrawler...

As Srihina continued to deflect the rubber balls, Corvus allowed each throw to be supplemented by a Force Push. Slowly but surely they'd be faster and create more damage.

But Srihina was holding firm. This was a draining lesson for most new Padawans. Given a little practice she'd become more and more competent - it would require virtually no conscious effort and her Barrier would be stronger and last for longer.

Finally Corvus stopped and put the balls away. Then she pulled out a stun blaster. "Don't worry, I won't aim for you, but when you're ready, you can feel the effect of an energy weapin on your Barrier."

Srihina's eyes widened into saucers. Blaster!

No, don't panic. Breathe, trust. Rinse and repeat. It's no different than the balls. Master said don't make it complicated. No doubt.

She could feel the corrosive effects doubt was having on her shield. It took a concentrated effort to banish it. Now the trick would be to keep it away.

Instead of continuing to eye the blaster nervously, she opted to close her eyes and focus inward. Meditation was usually hard enough for her with out being under fire. Breathe....the shield will hold.

Her posture tensed and her shoulders crept up toward her ears. It would hold.

"Ready," she squeaked.

Corvus lowered the blaster. "Your shield betrays you, let alone your thoughts. You must believe. Do you think the Force will let you down? I know it won't so please listen to me before yourself. I have complete faith in the Force and therefore I know that if you believe, it will happen. It is self-doubt that is causing your shield to wobble, not the Force."

"Relax and put your focus on your shield. And then I shall shoot you between the eyes." Corvus laughed. "Bad joke, sorry. I will aim obliquely when you are ready."

Srihina hung her head, ashamed of her weakness, her lack of faith. She pursed her lips, staring at the paving stones in front of her feet.

She was thinking too much, she concluded. That, or her tiredness was talking. Either way, it was unbecoming and needed to be addressed. To that end, she retreated back to the basic meditation and banished all thought to the Force.

Once she'd achieved a better headspace, Srihina looked back up at her Master.

"I'm sorry, Master Raaf. I'll do better this time."
