"I'm here to do business, not measure sabers. If you can keep your head on straight and work, fine. Quick lesson. You wanna work with people? Acting like a karking thug who just wandered out from some hutt's shadow isn't the way to get folks on your side," she rolled her eyes slightly. Just who did this man think he was? The return of Vader himself? She glanced over at Legion, her otherwise unfazed expression showing the slightest bit of concern.

Of course the girl would show up for a meeting that started with this sort of tone.

She picked up her drink with one hand, the other dropping off the table to rest on her lap instead, "Now. You were saying, Mr. Salomar?"

oh... thats a problem... His air canisters were running out... Its not that he couldn't breath normal air, it was just that he had grown accustomed to the modified air he had breathed has a child, he would have to take off his mask to add more air, and he really didn't want to show his face around these people, but it had to be done, taking off his mask he looked away from the group and tried to find his air canisters. He had left them on the table hadn't he... "Girl," he said, gesturing to [member="Legion"] "Can you.. hand me that canister?" he asked, in the most polite way he could manage.

Legion cringed at being addressed by the volatile man, reptilian yellow eyes looking from his motioning hand towards the canister. After giving her chiss companion a quick glance, she decided it would be safe to assist him ... after all, a friendly gesture would likely go a long way.

"A-Ah, yes..." she stammered, carefully grasping the canister and pushing it towards him, her hand disappearing back into her lap the instant she judged the object to be within his reach. "M-My name is Legion. May I a-ask yours?"

Her heart felt like it was hammering against her chest but she offered a wan smile, hoping it would diffuse the tension, if only marginally.

"Thank you Legion.." he said, taking the canister and refilling his mask, as he put it on he looked back at her, giving her a split second look at his injured eye, "Pretty name." he commented, "I may have had a name once, but it has been forgotten, I used to be called The Void Hunter, but you may call me whatever you wish." he replied. After a short pause to get his breath back, he laid back again, "Thank you legion, you are very helpful."

"A-Are you all r-right?" she inquired, catching a glimpse of his eye before bashfully looking away. Her cheeks were hot with apprehension and still she remained close to her blue-skinned and far more jaded companion, reassuring herself with the fact that the man's tone seemed to have shifted.

"Oh, ehm, it is m-my pleasure..." Legion murmured, embarrassed by his gratitude. After all, she'd only passed him a canister. "I w-will call you H-Hunter, if that is all r-right ... what sort of voids d-do you hunt? Voided w-warranties?"

She offered another little smile. Surely she hadn't meant to make a joke, but the show of her teeth certainly hinted at it, despite her innocuous demeanor.

"I suppose im fine..." he said with only a hint of sadness, he never really talked about his face, those that saw it never really cared, he looked at her and grinned at the joke, "Yes, you may call me Hunter," he didn't laugh, he barely ever laughed, but he hopped she could tell by his voice that he did find it funny.

He looked at these three. So far, he had no reason to trust any of them. Still, the woman wasn't lying about her piloting skills, that was certain. But this rash fellow with the saber--he needed a lesson. A hard one. He sighed, calmly.

Legion was kind, and willing to help someone when they were vulnerable, even after they had just threatened her friend. She was either a kind, sweethearted child with no mind for war, or the most brilliant assassin ever, and that canister was rigged to blow. He waited a good few minutes, making sure said canister did not detonate. He sighed. Well, at least she wasn't an assassin. Good.

"Mr. Hunter," he began, looking calmly at the younger man. "You need to understand, this isn't some criminal negotiation. I'm not impressed by weapon-waving bravado or grandstanding. I'm impressed by competence. Now, tell me, in no uncertain terms, why should I hire you? What skills do you bring to this table?"

He also nodded to Antera, waving calmly. "I am renting a vehicle with more appropriate sensors to terrestrial probing, Miss," he sipped more of his tea and smiled slightly. "Are you acquainted with Sorosuub navigation systems? We'll be using a survey vessel of their design. Not as nimble as a fighter, but surprisingly lithe for a cargo vessel."

He at last smiled politely to Legion. "You may accompany us on this dig as well, Legion. I will likely need an extra pair of hands with the equipment, and your temperament is most productive to research. Your pay will not be as much as Miss Antera's, but it should allow you some credits to spend on essential as well." For some reason, he thought this one would make a good assistant of sorts she seemed...curious, in the kind of way that actually helped with things.

Legion smiled softly to Mister Hunter, relaxing slightly now that he wasn't about to come to blows with Miss @Antera. Her attention diverted to Mister Salomar now that he spoke, however, and she listened intently, though his sipping reminded her of her own neglected teacup. That was quickly remedied and she drank deeply of its contents, finding herself wishing that her chiss friend's ship was stocked with more tea and less liquor. Much less liquor.

The questioning of Mr. Hunter caused her focus to slip back towards the man with the injured eye, a frown tugging at her lips. Would this cause him to turn hostile again? The thought made her pull her cloak a little more tightly around her body.

Miss Antera, of course, knew what she was doing. Legion most assuredly had faith in that. The technical aspect of the work discussed wasn't within the Sithspawn's field of study, however, and so the details admittedly escaped her notice as she took the time to enjoy her drink.

And then Mister Salomar turned his attention to her. She found his smile to be pleasant and she decided that she liked him. It wasn't wise to trust someone right away, especially not someone encountered on a shady planet rife with swindlers and cheats, but Legion had already decided that he was a nice man - she hoped that it would hold true over time.

"M-Me?" she asked incredulously, resting a hand against her chest. He wanted her help? That was ... unexpected. The thought of being able to do something on her own, without needing Miss Antera's guidance or provision, was an exciting prospect. "I would be h-happy to assist you, Mister Salomar! Th-Thank you!"

She nodded seriously as he explained his method of payment. It was logical - Miss Antera's work was highly technical and besides, the girl didn't need much to get by. Not yet, anyway. Mustikka would only stay small and cute for so long.

He sighed, "Mister... Salomar, I know what you are, and if you are any use during this job, I will be even more so." he snapped, then went back to tossing his saber up in the air over and over again, none of them would know, but the reason he was doing it was to try and train his eye to work properly again. "And I do not like the fact that you have an air of lies and plotting. It is, most discomforting." he said coolly, he didn't trust this man, he almost trusted [member="Legion"] but, that was yet to be tested. "If you have an objective 'Mister Salomar' I suggest you spit it out, before I cut it out for you. I will go with whatever plans you have, but it is very, distasteful if it is all shrouded in lies."

He would have rolled his eyes if he had any. Still he did what any person in his position would do, given the sheer surrealness of this situation. He laughed. He smiled, and pointed at a chair, gesturing for the young arrogant man to sit down. "So, let me get this straight. I ask you, calmly, to explain why I should hire you, and your answer, is to threaten me? Young man, you are either the wickedest or the most foolish person I've met in a long time. Possibly both. However, you are right. I am being unclear. So, allow me to clarify," he said, looking at him calmly, his laughing stopping, but his smile not changing as he poured himself another cup of tea. He sipped it, taking his time to let these ill tempers simmer a bit. That, and it was really good tea. He hadn't Tea this good since he'd been on Naboo. Feena knew where all the great cafes were.

He smiled and set his cup down. "Now, you discuss lies, and you are correct in ascertaining my deceptiveness of nature. However, you've failed to understand most of what I've said. It's no matter, I don't mind a dull student. However, if you threaten me again, I will be forced to defend myself. Rest assured, you won't last long. This tea has given me some fairly decent energy," he mused, as if he were dismissing the notion of actually dealing with this seriously.

"However, you act as though I am obligated to disclose to you my plans when I have still not even agreed to hire you. You threatened me without so much as a decent cause, and you've also threatened my presumed pilot. Now, I do have need of another pair of hands on this job. However, if you can't actually follow orders and act like a professional, you are not at all like me. You have no patience, no etiquette, and not even enough sense to avoid picking a fight with a potential employer. We've one thing in common, that is true, but in much else, we are separated by years, by actions, and by decisions--I'm blind, and I can still see our differences through actual observation, which you clearly have not. Miss Antera has proved within herself the ability to listen. Miss Legion has proven to have compassion and sympathy for others," he said, gesturing to three of them, his lips taking a sterner tone, as if to lecture him. "You, on the other hand, have demonstrated an acute lack of observational skills, a lack of guile, a lack of tact, and a lack of courtesy. You are not suited to haggle, or navigate, or excavate, or even perform medical care. The only skill youv'e shown is twiddling around the glowing butter-knife, and I've no need of a saber."

He righted his hat, blindfold face gazing intently at the masked man. "I'm asking you again, and this time, don't reply with a threat, lad. What, exactly, makes you worthwhile to work on an archaeological dig? What have you got that makes you worth my credits? Think before you respond..." he said, sipping his tea, his features set in a fairly dispassionate tone.

Legion winced away from Hunter's aggression as soon as it reared its head, glancing aside towards Miss @Antera. Her brows knit together, her lips parted in a questioning frown, silently asking why this man would act in such a way. It didn't make sense to her ... he was just being halfway pleasant!

She couldn't help but steal a glance at Mister Salomar as he lectured the younger man, her head bowed as if she was the one being chastised. It was all very uncomfortable and part of her wished that she'd remained on the ship with her dewback - the lizard was hardly confrontational unless it came to tubers.

Her chin lifted as the miralukan spoke of her and she flushed crimson, her hood sloooowly pulling down further along her face until her eyes were almost obscured. The girl thought of thanking him for saying such a thing but instead held her tongue, wringing her hands anxiously in her lap. The blindfolded man admitted to being deceptive, yes, yet still she found herself far more unnerved by Mister Hunter and his seething contempt. Surely he was a Sith ... but this was decidedly not how her mother or sisters would act.

At last her gaze fell to the table, silently begging the injured man to answer rationally, without letting his lightsaber do the talking. She had a sinking feeling about what would actually come to pass, however.

"Mister Salomar, I may be of use in heavy lifting, neither of these two have strength, I may be of use in finding material, I may be of use if we get attacked by natives, who knows?" he said and paused to study the man, "As for your little lecture, I will try and keep my temper down, but not all of us can control our tempers as well as, you, for example. Not all of us have been hunted, tormented, and nearly killed over and over for almost twenty years." he said, sitting back in his chair, "As I have." he added a moment later, his voice full of sadness, anger, and regret, from a time long passed.

The smuggler frowned, "Right, because obviously you have to do the lifting for me. Who you've never met before and have no frame of reference to judge. I'm not in the habit of showing off or begging for attention, that doesn't make me incapable. Oh, and that's lovely, can't control your temper but you want to go work with a bunch of strangers in what's sounding like a remote dig? That just sounds like a recipe for an incident. So you have problems. So what? Everyone in the galaxy has a story, kid. Don't think you've got a monopoly on hard times."

She glanced aside to the miraluka for just a moment, "Look, Salomar. I'm here to work, not help this guy deal with his emotional problems. If he's in, I'm not. Legion, I'm sorry, but I'm sure we can find something else you can do."

(OOC: going to make this one of my last posts in the thread, as I have to get ready for my leave of absence and con stuff)

Nothing was as annoying as setting up an entire plan to have the air let out of it. A simple job. Just...alright fine. New plan? No, new plane. Okay, it was about time he looked at the young man. "Kiddo," he said calmly, "you're shooting yourself in the fething foot before you even get off the ground. We've all got our darknesses, our demons in the waste, our losses to mourn. If you can't learn to make the world less about yourself, you're gonna have hard time finding work," he said calmly. "And an even harder time finding allies."

He stood up, leaving fifty credits on the table. "I'll cover the tea. The rest of the night is your trouble, Hunter. Tend to it," he said, standing up and dusting off his sleeves. He then looked to the other two. "Ship's over at the docks," he said matter-of-factly. "My offer still stands to both of you, I'm departing in three hours," he said calmly.

He felt bad for the kid. All that rage and terror beneath the surface. Still, he couldn't help one troubled soul right now. Not with his plans. No. Bigger things in motion. He had a galaxy to aid, and he was going to do it. This Hunter had seen enough, and revealed himself. He wasn't the needed man of the hour. But hey, maybe next time, the kid's hour would come. Time was weird like that....
