A Hunt For History

"Too true." Cedric agreed, choosing not to dig deeper into her remark about family. He had no desire to open any wounds that Wren would rather leave closed, at least for now. As all things, they would need to be addressed at some point should she choose to walk the path of a Jedi Knight.

"My droid and my padawan are akin to family. The droid, [member="Dak"], has been with my family for centuries. He's wiser than most people I've met, and my padawan [member="Loske Matson"] has proven herself on more than one occasion. She's loyal, and a good friend, a rare commodity these days." He intoned as they reached the hanger they'd entered from. His arms folded about his chest as he walked to the mouth of the cavern, gazing out at the gap between the hanger and the path back to civilization.

"I've spent the last few years preparing to build my Imperium. Two months ago I made it happen. My people control Coruscant, Tython, and a handful of other key worlds." He explained, "Soon we'll restore liberty to the rest of the core. It's just going to take time, and a lot of sacrifice." He glanced to Wren. "I want to know what you think of the Imperium once you've spent some time with us. I need honest thoughts - they're the best way to keep one from falling into power traps."

There was a detail in the words Cedric offered that caused the twi'lek to narrow her lavender eyes for a brief moment. Before, he had told her of many padawans and trainees, but so far he'd only spoke of one by name. And she was the only one that he qualified as family. It was an important distinction, one that she filed away in the back of her mind. The Jedi had a favorite padawan. She wasn't sure of the information's importance yet, but she reasoned that it couldn't hurt to keep it in mind.

She listened to his explanation of the Imperium in relative silence, making the occasional thoughtful sound to show that she was indeed paying attention.

It seemed the man was heavily involved in politics. She wasn't sure how she felt about the revelation.

"Mmm..." She mused quietly, then realized that he'd said something that required a bit more of a response.

"Not sure my input will be of any real value, I'm afraid. Government, especially in the core, isn't something I'm particularly familiar with." She explained, gesturing idly with her left hand as they made their way to the exit. "I can fight, if that's what you need... but beyond that, I'm not of much use."

Odessen resembled Tython, though it lacked the planet’s alignment toward the Ashla. Cedric breathes the air in almost greedily, keen to be out of the rather stale smelling ruin. He cast a look over his shoulder at Wren as she spoke.

“Don’t worry. I’m not going to make you taken class in political science,” He snickered as he eyed the gap, judging the distance for the second time today. “My only concern with you, Wren,” first time he’d said her name. “ -is teaching you the ways of the Force. Devote yourself to your studies, and my purpose is fulfilled.” He turned to face her, gesturing back down the path they’d approached the ruin from.

“Wanna head back? Flight to Coruscant isn’t short. Might pay to get home sooner rather than later.”

It was a rare thing for Wrenarias to hear her own name, let alone have someone shorten it. Often times, she simply wasn't in any one place long enough to give someone her name and she didn't offer it casually. So when Cedric addressed her by her name, it almost seemed to catch Wren off guard.

She clicked her tongue, eyeing the gap in the bridge and took a small step back.

"No sense in wasting time." She grunted as she rushed forward and leaped out over the sprawling abyss, drawing on the Force to augment her jump. Mid-air she twisted around with a lithe grace and landed with one knee bent, the other briefly touching the metal surface, while her fingertips pressed to the bridge to balance herself.

She stood to face the Jedi Master behind her, inhaling deeply.

"Shall we?"
