A Karkin' Shark Ate Me!: the Tragedy of Samuel L. Jackson

The Bith swam ahead of the group towards a stone arch. With his suit's lighting system on, he could better see in the inky darkness of the deep. Coming closer, he could see the mostly intact stonework. The salt waters of Manaan had eroded surprisingly little of the stone.

Except the surface. He could still make out the faintest of lines etched there and he pulled a small waterproof recording device. With it, he recorded what there was left. His sense was that this structure was beyond old, ancient in fact. A faint presence in the Force hung about the arches.

A Dark presence, with echoes of faint anger. It was most certainly Rakatan....

Matsu stayed with them and was moving as she could feel the force energies around the rift. letting the energies flow out of the ground to generate into whisps of white light and energy to brighten up the area around the ruins and rift with a glowball. Her own senses going out while she was swimming into one of the archways and down the path further. THeir rebreathers gave them a handful of days and with the tech to pull oxygen from the water they could work for even longer. Her attention went to some of the marling and fallen pieces. THe majority hadn't seen light she was guessing in a llong time but there was so much here you could just spend exploring and searching. She was liking the idea of the stronger research base being here for them to use when needed with things. An information might be able to work towards upgrading so much of their equipment.

Subtle but present, was the ruinous influence of the ancient Rakata. A shiver slithered down Vorian's spine as the faint echo of the dark side blistered within the ancient stone of the Infinite Empire. The Rakatan ate their own. He recalled from his history holotapes. Both fascinated and uneasy, Vorian peered from behind the visor of his wetsuit to the two senior Jedi. "Have either of you found a entrance, mas--" The Arkanian watched as Matsu manifested a glowball before descending through an archway and down a path. "Oh. It seems like you've done this type of work many times before, Master Ike." Without another word, Vorian swam behind the woman.

"Of course she has, Vorian," said Dune with a ghost of a smile. He followed behind the youth who himself followed the petite Master. After he'd made his recordings, Dune had spent time surreptitiously watching the Arkanian. Good, he looks with true sight, was Dune's judgement.

Throught the archway and down the path, he continued to observe the surroundings. No extraneous details here, just a passageway. That told him the those the Rakata brought within didn't need to be overawed and impressed. The Rakata themselves could do that.

Matsu kept swimming forward as she was looking at the sonar mapping on the HUD with a small nod. "Yes I have padawan, there are many secrets and things in the older ruins that can help add to things we are finding now. SOme of the older things one planets in the deep core or Unknown regios have shown advanced civilizations thousands of years old but still tens of thousands of years more advanced." She had some more things before she stopped lower into the ruin touching the floor with a hand dusting off some of the overgrowing ocean life. "The rakata for instance, while dark, twisted and dangerous... They did horrible things to many species in the galaxy but they also helped spread humans throughout the galaxy allowing evolution create different types. Their knowledge of the force while corrupted and borrowed from the Kwa can provide a basic understanding of their technology and from there gree and the older galaxy spanning species."

Vorian swam ahead, coming upon what appeared to be some sort of ancient atrium. The Jedi Padawan allowed himself to float downwards until his wetsuit encased feet made contact with the sea eroded floor beneath them. Pivoting his neck, Vorian used his headlamp to illuminate a set of walls. Despite his best attempts, it appeared as if much of whatever the wall was decorated with had been decayed away by untold centuries of salt water. "....Do you think we'll find a forcesaber?" Asked Vorian to Dune and Matsu.

Dune found himself sharing in some of the Arkanian's youthful enthusiasm. This in spite of himself, knowing full well the dangers of Rakatan technology. He reminded himself to temper his feelings in light of this. "Perhaps we will, or some other artifact."

He studied the walls more closely, frowning as he too saw that whatever was there was mostly illegible. Still, for posterity's sake, he took recordings of the walls. Perhaps image enhancement software might render some of it visible. Work done, the Bith turned to Matsu for direction.

Matsu looked at the two of them as she shrugged a little in the suit. They had a very nice set up here while she was going over parts of it with her hand. SMall markers they could get from the suits pack for marking locations to work on things. "There is any number of things around here buried deep. We do not know what might have been left down here when the ice caps melted." They had the submersible probes designed for this and the small balls were moving around searching and scanning as the jedi master moved to the side. Setting some more beacons while pointing out parts they had made boxes and sealed. "We've been slowly sectioning off and clearingly out small pockets with containers. A way to investigate parts of the ruins without major needs. It is also welcomed to protect from some of the local creatures." They had some of the nice preservation and restoration kits that the jedi researchers could use with her hands sifting through parts of the sand retrieving old metal parts.

Speaking of preserving the natural surroundings, Dune had begun to work on a patch of ground as directed by the diminutive woman. It had been neatly sectioned-off and his motions were careful and deliberate. All the more so with the resistance of the water, some may have found the slowness of the movements annoying. He found them calming and it allowed him to ease his mind and relax, lost in the work,

Vorian pivoted his head, peering to the various sectioned off areas, sealed containers and tools scattered about. His eyes fell to the Bith Jedi Knight who calmly bent to his task of evacuating a chunk of ground. Carefully attempting to mimic Dune's movements, Vorian wrapped his hands around a set of tools and knelt down to a particularly promising patch of fractured stone. Working with precise movements, he began to deliberately remove layers of dirt and material in an attempt to find anything worthy of note.

SHe was looked at them and nodding in approval with the movements as the jedi master sifted the sands. She could still feel it even down here with all of the hard work they were doing as she could shape the water to slowly push off some fo the sand and layers that had collected. Coming away with some pottery that was shattered and old rusted battle wands. Matsu pointed showing things in the light of the glowball while setting it into a collection trey of the probe droid. It was great for gathering the things as she tagged to get another over to them in case they found anything down there. The jedi was allowing the force energies to feel and sense around the ruins. Moving to give them some space but staying there on the side. Construction was being done by droids making sections with the selkath in the rift but they were being careful not to harvest and take everything.

Dune worked near Vorian, moving without speaking to each other. It was as if they worked in unison, guided by the Force. They didn't impede each other in any way, moving aside when occasion called for it. Dune's mind took careful note of this, making an important decision as he carefully placed an artifact into a container.

Despite the Arkanian and Bith working very close to each other, neither one hindered the other. Infact, it seemed as if they worked together as nearly a single mind. On several occasions, Vorian recalled picking up a tool and for some odd reason, placing it down in a particular spot after he finished with it, only to notice that he put in an area that Dune would offhandedly grope for and subsequently easily find it.

Vorian did not call attention to this, instead he simply enjoyed the peace of quiet productivity.

Looking at the two of them working together she understood a few of the things they had going on while her attention went to the sections being moved it to cover them. They had found a place and she spoke onto the comlink. "Anything interesting on your end?" She was wondering and more curious while backing up a little in the water and going lower as the slippery and white kolto was along parts of the walls. Touching it was like touching something goopy and slick under the water.

Dune looked up, hearing Matsu's voice through his commlink.

"Nothing especially interesting," he said as he picked up the device "Pottery, various tools. Fragments of them, mainly."

Looking over to Vorian, he asked if the youth had found anything that stood out.
