Coci Heavenshield
Dawnguard Grand Master
She would hardly leave Thurion behind to face the serpent alone, to move on ahead and leave him injured and facing the dangers alone? Never. Coci had remained in position half way up the incline only a few meters away from Thurion, but he had acted with speed as she caught sight of his saber flying through the air toward the head of the giant snake only to impale its eye. A roar of pain filled the chamber, deafening and mind piercing, one of the serpents skills in debilitating its prey, the freeze with fear. But neither of them would succumb to it. When he had reached her position only then did Coci move forward toward the light of day, the pathway outside clear to them.
“Close your eyes”, she said to Thurion as she raised her arm with palm extended. Coci’s energy physically and through the force had returned enough for her to summon it’s power. In the black chamber the serpent reared up in strike posture, the sense of pure rage pulsing through the force and only death would satiate it’s mind, Coci issued force blind toward the serpent, the blinding light filled the chamber removing all the darkness in a fleeting moment, piecing the eye of the serpent blinding it. She had narrowed her sight by closing her eye lids knowing that the sudden burst of light could affect her as well, as their eyes would have adjusted to the darkness with minimal light.
The large serpent shook its large head from side to side, trying in vain to bring back its vision, but it would never be, not for the best part of a day. “We had better get out of here, I think that serpent can use more than sight to find us and I think I just ticked it off even further”. Coci had the sense that the serpent could use not only movement with sight, although that is removed, but smell.
The heat of the desert hit their skin once more, the sun had passed it zenith and began the descent to the far side of the planet, but it is the hottest part of the day. Looking around the graveyard, there was not distinguishing features that would give guidance back to their speeder, it seemed they had travelled underground further than expected. The graveyards in uniformity, now posed a problem, which way to go?
