A Long Way From Home

"Well, I am offering. I wouldn't if I didn't think you were worth it, Damien." Her eyes fluttered closed for a moment, letting herself sink into a quasi-meditative state as she felt the energy radiating between them. "You have potential." The corner of her lips twitched as a smile threatened to break though. "And....I've never had the opportunity to teach before."

Her eyes opened and she tilted her head to face him once more, staring at the metallic mask for a few moments as she lets the silence drift between them. “There’s a difference between being alone and being lonely, Damien.” She pointed out, shifting in her cross-legged position lest her legs fall asleep. “But I understand. It’s easy to sink into familiar behaviors, and you’ll only suffer if you let something like loneliness consume you, no matter how comforting it is.” She paused, a thoughtful spark lighting in her eyes. “What do you feel now, Damien? Do I make you uncomfortable?”

“Hum…” Joza balanced an elbow on the knee and rested her chin in her hand as she observed the boy, casually feeling the emotions surrounding them. “Is it?” She questioned openly before raising her opposite hand and thrust it forward, releasing a wave of Force that would be powerful enough to push him over unless stopped.

Chin still resting against her hand, Joza simply blinked as he activated his saber, unaffected by her assault. “You’re quick to react,” She commented lightly, though it occurred to her that perhaps he had sensed that there was no malice behind her attack. “Can’t say I’ve seen a white blade like that before.” She eyed his saber in curiosity as her own were standard blue from the crystals found in Ilum. “I take it you’ve already learned Force Shield then?”

"It's more force absorb..." Damien deactivated his lightsaber, clipping it to his belt. "Oh... and I picked this little trick up myself. Force ignite." He bunched together a pile of twigs, sending a blast of energy to them. The twigs burst into flames, a little campfire being made.

Joza blinked as he lit a bundle of kindling aflame, not expecting for that to have happened. “Force ignite huh? And here I was thinking you were a sorcerer.” A light smirk curled her lips, but she smoothed it out to something more amicable.

“Listen,” She began, her voice dropping half an octave to signify that she was about to talk about something a bit more sincere. “I know that being social probably isn’t your thing…” She tilted her head towards him, having gleaned enough about him from sensing his emotions and what he’d revealed about himself. “But it’s a good thing to have allies, especially for Jedi. Even as a Padawan, there are certainly people that would love to destroy you.” She was being genuine with him. “And besides,” Joza would tuck a lock of hair behind her ears. “The lone wolf thing works out better when you’re a Master.”

"Would you really want to train someone who is in touch with the dark side? If I told you to leave me be, then leave me be!" Damien snatched his saber from his hilt, sudden rage filling him. His eyes could be seen through the mask - a bright yellow. He didn't quite get why he was enraged, but the dark side was starting to fill him, red lightning forming in his empty hand.

As if a switch had been flicked, Damien's more passive behavior disappeared and was repalced with anger. Not just any typical anger though--even without glimpsing those bright yellow eyes, Joza could feel the dark sided rage growing inside of him. Breifley she wondered if she'd said anything to upset him, as only moments ago he was admitting how soothing her presence was. Er, though that was before she had pushed him.

Joza was immediately on her feet, an arm lashing out to throw threads of force around Damien's neck. She'd tangled with the dark side on more than one occasion, gradually becoming familiar with the sensation of unbridled rage. She'd used it on a lover after a very messy situation, and again in a defensive rage after an ally she was supposed to protect suffered a life-threatening wound. As calm as she'd been before, she feared the dark side, even as her own eyes began to burn that bright yellow. An uncomfortable sensation she'd never get used to.

"Attacking me won't make you feel any better."

She'd apply pressure to her hold around his neck, squeezing so that he'd be uncomfortable but not in danger of asphyxiating just yet.

"Put the lightning away, Damien. I'll leave you alone if that's what you really want."

She spoke in a calm, forceful tone, yellow eyes meeting eachother with dark sided influence. If he would withdraw his attack she would release him from her hold. If not, she would squeeze tighter, calling one of her saber hilts to her free hand.

Damien felt his neck grow... tighter. So she knows the ways of the dark side as well... this should be interesting. He curled up as he lifted into the air, ignoring the pain around his neck. He charged up a ball of force lightning, expanding it till it was the size of his hand. Lightning shot out to Joza in an attempt to shock her.

Thrusting the hand that held her saber hilt out, she’d point towards him with two fingers and weave a Force Shield in front of her, absorbing the lightning. Meanwhile, her chest would tighten in anger as would her other hand, further restricting her grip around his airway to the point where breathing would become difficult.

“You're stubborn.”

Her eyes flashed as she looked over the young man, head tilting to the side. Part of her mind was telling her to feel guilty for what she was doing, but she ignored it for the time being. Ignoring it, she figured, could mean death.

“Where’d you learn that trick? Don’t tell me you’ve been running around with Sith in the wake of your Master's death.”

Her voice took on a hit of mockery, though she was the one who’d been keeping dark sider’s beds warm. In fact, in this moment she was feeding off of her own disgust for herself.

"Do... not... toy with me..." Damien attempted to free himself of her grasp, pulling up a force shield of his own. He ignited his saber, the white saber once again smoking and sizzling from the rain. "Face... me..."

Heeding his words, the Zeltron seemed to break from her reverie and released her hold on him as he conjured his own force shield. They'd accomplish nothing if she simply stood there and continued to attempt to choke him as if she was some sort of sadistic Sith. The yellow corruption of the dark side drained from her eyes, though the hardness was still present on her face. It took her a moment to realize, but he was not out for her blood simply because of his own passion, as she'd encountered. But that didn't mean that she wasn't taking this seriously. Use of the dark side, for whatever reason was dangerous as she'd learned the hard way.

Thumbing the ignition of her own saber, the blue blade sprung to life with a snap-hiss.

"Come!" She shouted suddenly, arcing her saber diagonally over her head in a high guard, traditional Soresu stance.

Damien dropped to the ground, removing his hooded cloak. He tossed it to the side, his armor getting pelted with rain. He sat there, waiting to plan his move as he paced around her like a wolf taunting his prey.

Joza's gaze sharpened as he circled around her, maintaining her own stance as he did so. The Zeltron was used to the familiar dance of predator and prey, and she was not particularly fond of it. With no warning, she would lash out towards him in a wide overhand strike as if she were aiming to bisect him.

Not bad. Joza batted his saber up and away with a forceful push, wrist rotating to bring his blade out as far as it could go. While their sabers were still connected, her knee would jab upwards sharply towards his stomach.
