A Most Interesting Find

Kiber pulled out his comlink and typed in Niyla's contact details. He checked the coordinates that she sent him and they were correct. The comlink rang and then it successfully connected on the other end.

"Niy, it's Kiber. I'm at our prearranged meeting point. I will dock at the station and wait for you," he said.

Niyla had been contacted by a long time friend a few days ago. The multi specialized 'merchant' was at first a bit weary to take the job... especially considering she wasn't able to speak with the actual figure she would be working with.

The inbetween guy was named Robert Daxon. She met him on one of the run in campaigns with justice shippings planetary relief, a project she still questions how she got herself involved with. He was of course a pirate, when were they not in those situations, and to add to the desert their first encounter was that of robbery. Once Niyla had him weeping on the floor of her ship they made acquaintance. Better to take the opportunities when they come right?

He pointed her to this bounty hunter who was looking for something. Which was literally all she was told. However with work running this slow she decided to take him up on the offer. Adventure is adventure afterall!

She sent the hunter the coords they would meet at which was basically an abandoned space station that she found a few weeks ago. Niyla parked her CS ALura beside the thing and turned the stealth shields on. Just to be safe, in her lifetime she had learned a thing or two about hunters.

As the ship came into view Niyla was happy to see it was no scam, just a small bounty hunter-esk ship. A few moments after its arrival a rough voice spoke over her com.

"Kiber eh?" Niyla though aloud. "Well let's talk then." She spoke again and pressed a button on her ship, turning off the shields and revealing a huge freighter floating just outside the station. She then flipped a switch and turned on her input com. "Nice to meet you Kiber."

Niyla then pushed a lever down and a dock attached to the station from her ship.

Kiber did the same and then he entered his corvette's private lift and made his way down to the station. The lift doors opened and he stepped out into the abandoned space station.

"Niy, I'm near the crew quarters. I'll make my way to the bridge. Meet me there," he said over the comlink, breaking into a sprint. He arrived at the bridge and sat down in the captain's chair, awaiting her arrival.

Niyla followed what he said, her amphistaff wrapped around her neck and slithering around her, though not uncomfortably. She strode down the hall until she reached the bridge. To where she found a man sporting mandalorian gear. He had a strong build and seemed to mean business.

She raised an eyebrow and put her hand on her hip, seemingly as a gesture but in reality as a means to get her hand close to her blaster just incase.

"Captain Kiber, it's catchy." She said with sarcasm upon noticing how he sat on the captain's seat. Niyla examined the mandalorian bounty hunter while she waited for his response.

Kiber stood up and approached Niyla, holding out his hand in greeting.

"Glad to meet you Niyla. I'm Kiber. Kiber Thaxton, bounty hunter extraordinaire," Kiber replied, looking at her amphistaff with interest; he had never seen one before.

Niyla listened to him carefully; his deep voice reminding her of someone she used to know. "Yeah, the feelings mutual Kiber." She nodded and laid her hand in his, shaking it with a strong grip.

She then noticed his curiosity in her amphibious friend. "You can pet him if you want." She smiled as Lightning slithered his head further from her neck and closer to the man, Niyla was sure he would be nice. He'd only ever bitten like 30% of the people she had met.

Kiber gently petted the amphistaff and it seemed to enjoy the attention it was getting.

"Now, I have to find a certain artifact. Can you help me find it?" he asked her.

Niyla met his visor and tried to see behind the black. "Yeah sure, that's why we're here." She pushed her bangs back and pulled out a chair, sitting down and insinuating he accompany her. "So, details?"

She perched her head to the side as they settled in.

"It is a powerful bracelet that allows the wearer to control minds and enslave others. I don't know why my client wants it back, but I don't want to ask him why, otherwise I would be in major trouble," Kiber hoped that Niyla would understand and agree to help him.

Once he started to explain the device, well, Niyla wasn't expecting something like that.

"Enslave the minds of others? Seems a little scary to me." Niyla looked down and bit her lip, a habit she had seemed to pick up when she was unsure.

"Sure, why not." She said with a slight chuckle and looked at the mando.

"So...Major trouble...?" She asked with wandering eyes.

"Major trouble, as in I would be given a death sentence by this man if I refused to return the braclet to him, even though I have an aversion to controlling others and enslaving them. He is a very powerful figure and he said that only a Mandalorian bounty hunter, such as myself, would be able to carry out this task and complete it with no questions asked. But now, I'm asking myself lots of questions about it," Kiber wondered what the man was doing right at this moment - possibly on his regular visit to the slave auction to buy some more Twi'leks for his collection.

Niyla raised an eyebrow and leaned her head in, a few strands of her loosely braided hair coming loose.

"Who is 'the man'?" She asked with intrigue as this was seemingly a bit more serious than she had imagined.

Kiber leant in close, his helmet almost touching Niyla's face.

"His name is Carmich Thorrus, one of the most infamous slavers in all of the galaxy. I have met him several times, when I had to rescue some female Twi'leks from his personal collection. He is the most disgusting human to ever inhabit the system," he felt the rage slowly building up.

Niyla questioned if he is so bad, then why help him, even if it would hurt the mando. She simply shrugged and fell back in her seat.

Adventure was at it was. Plus Niyla needed the extra credits, and a job like this seemed like it would bring in a lot.

After a short moment of silence she stepped out of the chair of nodded to the mando. "Let's do it then!" She spoke with excitement, her tone changing rather dramatically. She wouldn't make it all dark and gritty. Afterall adventure is meant to be exciting.

"Are you a good pilot Kiber?" She asked as they began to walk down the hall back to their ships.

Kiber nodded. "One of the best Mandalorian pilots in the sector," he said with pride, following close behind as they arrived back at their ships.

"Before he let me go, Thorrus told me that the bracelet had been stolen by an anti-slavery infiltrator inside his organisation. He said that they were possibly hiding out in Coruscant," Kiber was hopeful that they would check the right places and not let the infiltrator get away.

The girl nodded as he spoke, he was an intriguing fellow. Not really like she had expected him to be.

When they were about to get on the ships she stopped him by the arm.

"I will ride with you."

She spoke, watching him keenly.
She slid a small card across the docking door and she stepped inside the mandolorians ship.

Kiber led the way up the ramp into the AT-360 Light Freighter that was his own personal transport. "Are you sure? I mean, aren't you worried that someone might find your ship here?" he asked, as he took Niyla through the vessel and into the cockpit.

Strapping himself in to the pilot's seat, Kiber waited for Niyla to be comfortably in the co-pilot's seat. "I would usually have my Wookie with me, but he is visiting family at the moment," he turned on the main engines, and he'd slowly engaged the boosters and hyperdrive. The roar became louder and louder till the freighter was straining to fly. He punched the ignition and Galactic Ranger got up to speed. Kiber engaged the activated hyperdrive and the ship jumped to Coruscant, vanishing into thin air.
