A New Command...A New Beginning

Jack eventually found his way about the ship, though with a bit of lost pride that he hoped nobody noticed though he knew Kayleigh did. He looked towards Lieutenant Tyven, she obviously had enough time to go and freshen up, whereas Jack spent most of his time being lost. Jack's face was still a bit dirty from the repairs to the circuitry and some of his hairs were standing on end, it was possibly be from the electricity that he was dealing with at the time.

As Kayleigh backed up Jack moved towards the admiral to give his own report. "Sir, the Shield Generators had experienced some existing damage from the battle at Manaan, many of the circuits were heavily damaged when the shields overloaded. I was able to salvage the system, so it should be okay for awhile." Jack quickly examined his own datapad to bring up some of the statistics that he had recorded when he was repairing the ship. "I was able to get it back up to 80% capacity and I have since received word that it is being increased by the crew." Jack stepped back, tucking the datapad beneath his arm, to beside Lieutenant Tyven.

"Excellent. Lieutenant Tyven, I will have my chief engineer examine these results. If they agree with your conclusions they will be put into effect. Lieutenant Rand, good job. Other stations, report."
He listened to each in turn, occasionally commenting, other times just nodding. The short result was that the ship was back on its feet. It had not taken vast damage at Manaan, but it had been enough to require a proper repair.

"Everything seems in order. To your stations, crew. Let's take the Destiny for a ride."

"Thank you, Sir!"

Before Kayleigh took her place as instructed, she walked slowly past Lt. Rand, leaning in close to his ear so only he heard her whisper, "Got lost huh? Tisk Tisk Lt. Romeo. I saw you wandering around. I'll keep that to myself, don't worry. For now, anyway." Her attention shifted, and she was ecstatic to finally be able to take the ship up. Situating herself, she instructed the crew to run one final test across all primary systems before requesting for docking bay departure, as well as prepared the navigation systems for new input. "What is our destination, Admiral?"

Jack felt a bit self-conscious when Lieutenant Tyven told him that she saw he was lost, he made up something quickly and whispered back to her. "Oh so you were watching me." Jack gave her a smug smile as he sat back in his chair, which was conveniently located directly behind him. He rested his eyes as he was the weapons guy, they could take care of any flight that they had to do and Jack was still a bit tired.

"Set course for..." the Admiral looked at the charts, "Sector 153-332, I think." The destination was in the same system, a short distance away. It would require no more than a few hours of gentle cruising through space before returning to dock.

Lots of endless void would give them a chance to fire weapons as well without endangering anything.

Lt. Rand sat back into his chair, Kayleigh rolled her eyes, her smiled crept to one side of her cheek, her lips and mouth partway open, "Someone has to, and you would much rather it be me, than the Admiral I think."

As the orders were relayed Kayleigh began the necessary procedures for detaching from the docking bay. Did the Admiral just say....I think? What was that about?
"Roger, Admiral. We've been cleared for departure. Setting course for Sector 153-332. Disengaging from docking bay in 3...2...1." And with that, the Destiny began it's ascent.

While this was nothing new or out of the ordinary for her, as she had been flying and piloting since she was a child, the Destiny...this, was something else. This ship was like a piece of heaven to her, and she respected every inch of its beauty, and she would be damned if she didn't explore everything this ship had to offer before she was through.

Jack chuckled as Tyven directed her comment towards her. "I'm sure he's watching me in his own way." Jack passed this off as a joke, but it was probably more true than he wanted it to be. His uncle was watching him carefully to make sure that he didn't screw up and Jack hoped that he didn't. Jack didn't bother to buckle up as the ship began it's ascent, he simply lied back and felt the vibrations of the ship as it raised. The feeling of movement always calmed Jack's nerves and it messaged him into a blissful rest.

The Admiral coughed, casting them a pointed look. Now was not the time for chattering.

“Lieutenant Tyven, are all engines acting at maximum efficiency?” he asked calmly.
“Lieutenant Nadir, activate shields and report efficiency.”
“Shielding units report 95% efficiency, sir,” the officer replied.
“Send maintenance to investigate. 5% is too much of a window. Regulations demand 3%, but I want less. Lieutenant Rand, what readings are you getting from the weapon battery power flows?”

Kayleigh caught the glance of the Admiral as she turned away from Lt. Rand and looked down to her system. Bringing up the displays for the ship's engines she rattled off the numbers. "Admiral, Engines 1 and 3 reporting peak power. Engine 2 reporting 97.62%. Engine 4 reports 95.33%. I'm reading 98.65% average thruster efficiency. Hyperdrive is prepped and on standby." Adjusting the pitch and speed of the vessel she reported back once more. "We will reach cruising speed in 30 seconds."

Jack woke up from his daze as the admiral addressed him and he quickly turned to face his terminal and read the information on it. The batteries were operating high, but not optimal which was odd considering Jack had fixed them. He was a bit upset about this fact. "Hold on a moment sir." Jack flicked the screen with his finger and then the percentage went to optimal, guess the terminal was damaged in the battle. "Okay sir, we are at optimal efficiency."

“Excellent. Keep us steady. Deploy the targets!”

For target practice, various hulks, asteroid fragments and pieces of junk would be deployed at various ranges to be targeted.

“Mr Rand, line up on Target Alpha and fire when ready,” the Admiral ordered.

The target, a large sheet of scrap metal, hovered in space several hundred kilometres away, dropped off by a passing gunship.
