A Peaceful Meeting

Joza frowned in thought as she digested his words. When it came down to it, her lack of experience and understanding was the problem. She knew this, and it frustrated her not to be able to pick up things quickly. It took Jedi years of study to be proficient, and although she was willing to learn, it was something she was unused to. It made sense—she grew up in a culture where desires were meant to be satisfied quickly, and self-betterment of this sort often took the back burner.

But she was determined to overcome this, even if it meant that it would take a while. She only hoped that the journey did not end up being so frustrating that she’d quit. “So what you’re saying is, there’s no quick and easy solution to this?”

"In a word, yes."

He spread his hands apologetically and shrugged. That's what it boiled down to, years of experience and dedication. It was something he was still working on himself as much as he could. Even the abilities some adepts took for granted he tried to improve.

"We improve with time, there's no way around it. Once you accept that years of work are in store, you can begin. There's no sense in attempting to find a workaround that doesn't exist."

Joza looked unsure, as if she wasn’t ready to accept the explanation. Her mother had denied letting her leave Zeltros as a child when it was discovered that she was sensitive to the Force, so now she felt as if she had a lot to catch up on.

She could make up for lost time on her combat skills—Maker knows she had during her time of Sullust, but the mental part came slower. Taking in a deep breath, the young Padawan held it for several long moments before exhaling slowly, shoulders relaxing as she settled into a more meditative state of mind. Perhaps it would be for the best if she resigned herself to the fact that she had years of study ahead of her.
