A Princess and a Peasant

[member="Felicity Mason"]

"Hey sorry, i am grateful, please stay, i could use the conversation miss." He smiled at her, the insults gone and replaced by the kind and happy smile that Glyph had more often than not. "Mind if i ask your name, i would love to know the name of the person that helped me." He leaned up a bit, resting his back against the backboard of the bed, his eyes focused on her, deep blue eyes unmoving as they stared.

Why was he staring at her like that? Did he think he was being charming? Did he think those pretty blue eyes would make her melt or something? He was a cutie, but he was too nice. He dropped the insults a little too quickly. Why was he being nice all of a sudden?
Did he want something from her?

"Felicity," she answered with a sigh, "Felicity Melodias Mason. But you can call me 'Princess'."

"Well, then a pleasure to meet you Miss Mason, Princess of Naboo. And stop over analyzing, its annoying, i can tell by the fact you hesitated before speaking and you look confused. Im simply being my plain old self in the company of a kid my age... Did anyone ever teach you how to fight with your hands, or did you simply learn?" He was interested in the princess now, she seemed stuck up, but she also seemed tough and ready to deal with things on her own... He had seen her mother's style of rule, could her daughter rule just as well?

Felicity narrowed her eyes, always suspicious. Nobody could be trusted. Only family. Family wasn't going to use her. Not like the people here.

"My Uncle taught me," she answered slowly, "and my dad. Mom... doesn't exactly approve."

She shrugged, moving to take her seat again. She supposed, for the time being at least, she could sit and chat. It couldn't hurt.

"You are good, if i had passed out earlier, i had a feeling you could have handled that guy alone... Sorry though about trying to help you, i couldn't chance the boy or his father getting hurt... Not while i was still able to move and when he shot at you and i saw no weapon i had assumed you would get hit by the bolt... you are force sensitive though, how come you dont train?"

Felicity cocked her head to the side, her long blond hair brushing the back of the chair. Was he... serious? He spent all that time insulting her, now he was complementing her ability? What was with this one? He was too nice for him own good. Felicity didn't know what to do with him.

"My mom is the queen of Naboo," she answered, "You figure out why I never trained."

The truth was, mom had different plans. Mom was a great healer. Mom was string in the Force. Mom could do so much with it.
And Felicity? She was lucky if she could make a book quiver on the shelf! She didn't seem to have the natural talent. Not like mom. Not even like her 8 year old sister Celeste! A little girl was better than her!

Felicity blushed just thinking about it. mom insisted that she sensed something powerful in her, but... she didn't see it. If she was so powerful, then why was it so hard?

Besides, mom wanted her to become a politician, like her. She had Princess of Theed in mind sometime down the line, and most likely Queen some day. That was what mom wanted. That was what mom was training her for.

"What are you thinking about, i can see your unease..." He never quit smiling, never, when he was hurt he smile to rid the pain. When he was sad he smiled to remember the good. And now he smiled not at her unease but to try and comfort it, a kind smile and look on her that he showed often, but this one showed utter focus on her too, he was absorbed in this conversation and giving the would be queen her own slice of attention from the one she had helped. The fact she had brought him here instead of throwing him in a hospital showed she could be a good leader among the people, now she needed confidence.

Didn't he know that smiling like that was creepy? Ugh. Mom did that too. She smiled when things were really bad. She smiled when she was feeling really ill. She smiled when people told her she was dying. She smiled when she was so tired she couldn't even walk on her own. She smiled and she pushed ahead. She suffered. But she never, ever, stopped smiling.

And it was weird.

"Yeah? Well, my problems are none of your business. 'What are you thinking about'" she lowered her voice, imitating his as best she could, "Who do you think you are? My boyfriend?"

She didn't have one. Not yet. Some day. Then she'd bring him home to daddy and watch daddy scare the living force out of him. Maybe she'd ask out Owain? Just to punish him. Make him her boyfriend, then watch her dad threaten him. He'd be so scared, he'd probably cry!

...Oh, but she wanted her first boyfriend to be serious.

Where was she going with this train of thought?

"I would hope that i would know if i was your boyfriend, that would be quite odd seeing as id never seen you before. I wouldn't complain though if it was true..." He smiled now as she had questioned who he thought he was. "When you look at me, what do you see? A Teenager looking to do what should be saved for the adults to do? A weakling trying to become stronger so that he isn't pushed around. Or a kid, trying to save thousands from an inescapable end... They are what you see. What i see, is a bright soul, looking to make a difference in a galaxy held by its throat and corrupted by greed. Now i ask you, what will you do to protect the defenseless and the innocent, because i will fight for them while you hide in your order and behind your greed." He paused for a moment and leaned forward just enough to look at her. "What im thinking about is, why is a Princess helping a boy she never met... perhaps you are already on the same path as your mother and you don't even know it... all great things start with a spark."

Felicity stared for a long time. Wait. Wait... did he just hit on her, then did he get all philosophical? Who was this guy? Space wizards were weird.

"And I see someone who takes himself way too seriously," she replied, palm on her face, "Seriously, guy. I'm a teenage girl. You don't need to go spouting poetry to get my attention. Trust me, getting my attention is pretty easy."

It was the truth. She wasn't exactly a challenge...

"It... wasn't poetry... sorry i am bad at simple conversations, never talked to someone my age without said person calling me a twig and trying to break my arm or something with a chunk of duracrete..." He smiled as he said that, it lessened, but he smiled. Like he had said before, he smiled when he was sad, mad, hurt, or happy. "Sorry, i hate to be a pity party, what should we talk about then to make it sound like a normal conversation Miss Mason."

So. Weird. Still, it wasn't bad to have someone to talk to that actually wanted to talk to her.

"Well..." she hesitated for a moment. What did normal teenagers talk about? When she spoke to Owain, it was just to insult his stupid face. What did the people at school talk about?
"Um... where do you live? Do you go to school? How many siblings do you have? Who are you crushing on right now? What's your favorite hobby? ...I think that's a good conversation starter."

He clocked each of the question one at a time, lifting one finger as he listed them off answer wise. "As for the first, I dont really have a home, ive been moving around in the ship i got from my parents, its hard to be around the other Eldorai when you don't really believe in their religion... Second. No, ive never really gone to school, most of what i know is through my time with my family or out in the world, i do need glasses when i read though. But that's a Genetic thing. Three Siblings, not much i can say about them, we aren't too close. Am i crushing on someone... hmm not at the moment, though ive never had to think about it so there are a few people that are certainly pretty but i like people who hold my interest better. And my favorite hobby, why its playing a violin and writing, i know, its odd for someone who needs glasses to read to write. But hey, while the earlier thing wasn't a poem, i could make one up now miss."

Oh Force... poetry.

If there was one thing Felicity didn't enjoy, it was this. If she refused to hear his poem, she was rude and icy. But if she heard his poem and it was awful, she would be honor bound to tell him it was bad. And that just made her rude...

"Ehh.... If you must..."

"A dream held to by all,
Every man, Woman, and Child,
A goal humans strive to achieve,
One that is impossible to attain,

Man is far to flawed,
Both mentally and physically,
Our bodies age, sicken, and drain,
Our minds fragile, misused, and contained

Emotions that drive us prevent perfection,
Jealousy, sadness, greed, and hate,
But not just emotions such as those,
Joy, kindness, and pride as well,

The goal of perfection is not one for us,
It if achieved throws back out humanity,
It would cause us to change greatly,
Creating but a hollow shell in the end,

Thus Perfection is an impossible goal,
A goal that will never bear success,"

He smiled and looked at her as he said that, a grin on his face. Not his best work, but he said it off the top of his head. "Good enough?"

[member="Felicity Mason"]

"That was terrible."

Felicity spoke plainly, her face entirely blank. Blunt as ever. She was not one to sugar coat anything, especially when there was no benefit to her in lying.

"Honestly, I think you should keep your day job... whatever that is,"

"Thanks..." He sighed and laughed under his breath at the day job comment, looking at her again. "Past playing my violin, i dont have a day job miss... well other than what you saw back there but that was more of a hobby than a day job in the first place. Though, i bet i could make a few credits doing something like that for a living..." He smiled at the thought, going from planet to planet, fighting for some cause and getting some extra credits... that would be interesting.

Felicity rolled her eyes. This guy could have been charming, but instead he was boring her. She had half a mind to leave, if it wasn;t so rude.

"You talk too much. Use short sentences when speaking to nobility. We do not always have the time to listen to you prattle on like that."

She spoke as if she were teaching him a lesson in etiquette. And perhaps she was. He did have potential, she supposed. Maybe she could use him. She did basically just save his life, after all...

His features softened and he nodded. "Very well then Miss. Ill keep it short. What do you want to talk about?" He smiled at her, bowing to her wishes so to speak as he really had no reason not to. She did seem a bit demanding though, somewhat of a brat even... but he had no right to insult her even if she did him, the irony of the situation being he was the peasant and she was nobility.

"You mean to say 'My lady, what do you wish to talk about'. It is very important."

Another quick lesson. She sat up straight, legs tucked under the chair, hands folded in her lap. She was truly the image of a Lady... except for that scowl on her face.

"I wish to talk about you, actually," she said, "And what you plan to do after you heal."
