A Small Ripple In A Large Pond

SELONIA
Corellian System

The water broke with a splash as Levia Sol emerged from the surface and pushed himself up effortlessly onto the bank of the small Selonian island from the surrounding global ocean.

The Baudo-Class Star Yacht he had piloted down to the large island loomed over him as he stood on the bank, hands on his hips, taking deep refreshing breaths from the atmosphere around him. Being half Aquar, he wasn't after filling his lungs with oxygen, as he could easily breath underwater thanks to his respiratory system, but rather simply enjoying being alive.

Droplets of water fell from his short black hair and over his tanned body, well built but not physically imposing. Effortlessly casting his hand over towards his folded pile of clothes and attire on the bank, a large towel rose from the ground and sailed over to his palm. Drying himself down in the humid air didn't take long at all.

---------------------------

Moments later, the ocean lapping gently on the shore, Levia tied the laces of his black boots and pulled up the sleeves of his loose fitting ivory shirt. He knelt down to take two final important possessions; his custom built lightsaber hilt and Groda, his blue-skinned Kashyyyk Tree Frog; the only companion he had known in the last few years travelling the galaxy.

Fixing the hilt to his belt and holding Groda in his palm, Levia smiled and spoke half to himself and his companion.

"Shall we see what the galaxy holds for us, Frog?"

He inhaled deeply and looked around at the island ahead of him.

He was back in the galaxy he knew so well, but back as a changed man and ready to seek out his destiny.

Orbit of Corellia,
Corellian System

The Siege Tower wasn't too impressive ship just by looking at it. A frigate, thin and elongated like a sword, flying colors of the Protectorate, the Abregado-Rae, and the Iron Company. However, while its appearance was rather moderate, the crew of the adventuring frigate, and the vessel itself, have seen plenty of combat, they have done plenty of deeds in combat and otherwise, lately even taking part in sinking the Star Destroyer Darth Vulcanus used as his flagship.

Either way, the frigate hung in the orbit silently, motionlessly, until finally, a transmission was broadcasted from the ship,
"Hello, this is First Baron HK-36, the Iron Knight, aboard the adventuring frigate Siege Tower. Do you thirst for adventure, do you need well-paying job, do you seek a place for yourself or want to see what the Galaxy holds for you? Why not sign up for service with the Iron Company? Here at the Iron Company we provide training to our professional soldiers and temporary freelancers alike, we are a company who has seen many battles against the evils of this Universe and protected the innocent over and over again. Do you wish to hunt a five-headed dragon? Do you want to exterminate undead should they arise once more? Have you dreamed about beating a mechanical dragon to its death with its own wing while the Demons of Chaos run away at the mere sight of you, or maybe Colonel Kerrigan behind you? Well, great, because you are one of those crazy bastards we are looking for!"
There was a pause in the broadcast briefly,
"Iron Company, good morals, good pay, great adventure. Accepting all races, species, organic or synthetic, Force users and nons alike."

And so the frigate waited, its broadcasting transmitting in a loop, although they were in Corellia's orbit, nearby planets like Selonia, nudge-nudge wink-wink, would be able to pick it up as well.

A small beep began emitting from the inside of Levia's ship. Looking to Groda, he simply shrugged. No-one knew he was out here, so who would be contacting him?

Holding onto his companion, Levia, knelt down and picked up his jacket, taking it over his arm as he walked towards the ramp of his ship leading inside. He could sense no immediate threat, no sign of life close by, so he was genuinely intrigued as to what the com could be.

Moving into the cockpit, there was the familiar face of his FEG pilot droid, Flygare. Ever faithful and every dependable. The best co-pilot a man could ask for. Slipping his jacket down and placing Groda on the control panel ahead of them, Levia sat and flipped the com-switch.

"Ok Flygare. What've we got."

He slouched back, tapping his fingers on his chin, glancing over to the emotionless droid. Static crackled into life. His eyes were brought back to the com as the message from First Baron HK-36, the Iron Knight, played out, echoing around the ship.

Levia flipped the com switch, silencing the loop after the second time. Groda emitted a small croak. Flygare turned to look at both the Frog and Levia. Levia looked at Flygare.

"I think we've found a calling my friend."

Rolling up a sleeve again, he leant forward and activated the open channel to send a response back to the frequency.

"First Baron HK-36, this is Levia Sol of the Rocka. I have received your message and am interested in your proposal. Please confirm and provide further instruction. Over."

He sat back and smiled slightly.

"Looks like things are about to get interesting. A whole lot more interesting."

Instead of the same electronic voice Levia would hear a feminine voice,
"Roger that Levia Sol of Rocka, this is the Siege Tower, we are currently in orbit of Corellia, you can take a shuttle from any of the major cities in the system or park in our hangar, look for the Nebulon frigate flying Protectorate Colors and a silver insignia of droid faceplate inside a gear. Aboard you and other volunteers will be briefed by the Iron Knight and processed into temporary service if you will be still interested. Over."
They expected multiple volunteers at least, while HK would meet them in person aboard the ship, he couldn't respond to all of the calls being made.

Either way,
Aboard the Siege Tower

The troops were getting everything set up, expecting for potential new recruits to arrive soon. It wasn't anything too elaborate, there were shelves and stands arranged about the part of the hangar they designated as the processing area, showing usual equipment used by the Iron Company, their Powered Defensive Armor, MK 1 and 2 bolters, vibroswords and axes, light blaster repeaters and the heavy Omega rotary cannons. While everyone was free to bring their own equipment, those were their most common tools.
"Come on, get everything ready, I want it all to be impressive by the time we get first transports inbound."
The droid hurried his troops, his tall thing form covered in heavy powered armor, grey cloak falling off of his shoulders and armaments adorning his belt.
"Yessir."
One of the troopers nodded in agreement as they got the tables and datapads with forms ready.

HK nodded, satisfied as he looked across the hangar towards the opening that led into outer space.
"It shall not be long now."
He commented to himself.

Levia rested on foot on the wide control deck of the cockpit, spinning his chair gently back and forward with his other as he listened to the pleasant female voice on the other side of the com.

He tapped his hands on the side of his chair and nodded at the instruction as the channel crackled off.

"Right Flygare. Let's fire her up and get going, no point wasting anymore time."

Leaning back to flip the loading ramp activation lever that closed it deeper in the ship, Levia smiled as the engines gave a whine and growl as the navigation droid fired up Rocka to depart at once. Groda was placed into a small incubation chamber fixed to the side of the cockpit, full of small fragments of bark, fauna and a warm light to replicate the tropical climate the small blue frog was used to. Levia smiled at the small creature and turned back in his seat as Rocka began to rise up from the island, the thrusters spraying water all around them as it banked to make the climb up and out of the Selonian atmosphere.

Orbit of Corellia
Corellian System

It didn't take long for Levia to stop the hulking mass of the frigate adorned in admirable Protectorate colouring. It easily dwarfed the Rocka on approach, it's intricate design looking like a fierce beast of some sort prowling across the stars.

As Flygare helped navigate the ship into the blinking lights of the hangar, the young water shaper took to the com.

"Seige Tower, this is the Rocka making way to your hanger. We arrive in good faith. Over."

The Rocka entered the large frigate, already busy with a few smaller ships and scurrying bodies and droids below. Wasting no time, Flygare and Levia brought their transport down gently and cut the engines.

The Seige Tower
Corellian System

Looking out of the cockpit, Levia was intrigued by the buzz of activity below them. "Stay here Flygare. I'll be back once I've sussed this out. And keep your sensors open."

Throwing on his brown and gold jacket, Levia hit the loading bay switch and walked through the ship and down into the cool hangar. The lightsaber hung at his side and the connection to the Force was open as a simple precaution, nothing more.

"Roger that, Rocka, park with other ships in the hangar."
Came a response, quick and simple,

From his boarding ramp Levia would be able to see the center of activity, three rows of Corellians, mostly humans, being arranged by the armored soldiers of the Iron Company into somewhat loose formation, they were keeping things orderly but not too much to be a major pain in the ass. While the soldiers, clad in Protectorate's Heavy Defense Power Armor, did had weapons on them, their heavy bolters were hanging loosely on their sides, holstered safely like over-sized pistols.

"Come on, move it, move it!"
One of the nearby soldiers hurried Levia along, their armor was grey with golden and rust-orange details, just like the rest.
"The briefing is about to start!"
He called out, explaining what the hurry was about.

Levia would be guided then towards the lines of volunteers, each murmuring about themselves in expectance, and excited for what was about to happen. Funny thing about the Corellians, each had very simmilar outfit, they were famous for their space-cowboy types, so each thought himself one. Most had hats on their heads, brims wider than Danger's bust, all had nerf-leather coats and pistols holstered at their sides. And a bit of a scruffle. Of course there were aliens among them as well, not just humans.

Either way, Levi would be led towards a Wookiee with a wide-brim hat and a nerf-leather coat, grumbling slightly about what the hold-up is.

"The Grey-Cloaks are coming!"
One of the troopers alerted the others from the hallway as they streightened out their armor quickly and the prepared tables with datapad-forms.

It looked like an organised Bantha market, but the hangar was a hive of activity with droids, sentinel beings and lots of equipment set up across the way. This was something major judging by the number of armed soldiers lining the way. Nothing aggressive, simply precautionary. Either way, it was an impressive set up.

Levia was ushered forward past both small and large groups of humans and aliens of all shapes and sizes, some intimidating, others meek and ordinary, much like Levia himself. He didn't rock the boat, he just kept himself to himself, looking over his shoulder to check on the Rocka. Still there.

Moving out of the way of a few mouthy Corellians by his side, Levia side-stepped to come up in front of a Wookiee wearing a rather impressive looking hat. He brought his eyes up to meet the towering mass of walking carpet and offered a smile.

"Hi."

He'd soon learn if he was in the right place or not.

The Wookiee just looked at Levia, sizing the man quickly before he nodded and responded with a greeting of his own,
"Wyaaaaaa."
A Shyriwook for "Hello" however, their conversation would but cut short by the commotion of the soldiers as tall, slender armored figures began to emerge from the open doorway in pairs, grey cloaks cascading off of their shoulders, faces hidden beneath masks of their helmets. There were four of them at first, they moved and went behind the tables prepared, facing the recruits they took seats in unison. The last figure in grey-cloak to enter had medals and commendations displayed on the chestplate of his armor.
"Attention!"
An officer called out and the heels of the Iron Company's troops clicked as they saluted the figure.

"At ease."
He ordered simply, letting them relax.
His mask opened, to reveal an HK droid's faceplate, although the head was bit smaller to accommodate fitting into a helmet, as he came up to one of the officers before the group of volunteers gathered. He glanced over the crowds, scanning over the Corellians and others before he looked to the officer.
"Is that Lord Cater?"
HK slightly motioned with his head vaguely towards one of the Corellians gathered, speaking to the soldier softly.
The trooper looked to him and back to the crowds in discreet glances, and then back to HK, his expression hidden behind his mask.
"No.. no, sir, none of them are the Lord Protector."
The droid nodded slightly, looking back to the group shortly,
"How about that one? Looks similar."
He motioned with his head once more towards somebody in the crowd.
"Sir."
The soldier began, looking to HK,
"That is a Wookiee."
The droid looked back to the armored officer,
"Well I meant his hat, I do not think I have ever looked at Lord Protector anywhere besides his hat."

And with that little fluffy bit of comedy over, HK folded his arms behind his back as he stepped slightly closer before the crowds, beginning to speak to them loudly and clear,
"Greetings, I am First Baron of the Protectorate, Observer of Abregado-Rae, Iron Knight. A title given to me by Lady Protector Cira for defeating and turning in Pirate Dreadlord RC 212 of the Deathwatch, for his crimes of attempted genocide on Endor, dropping a nuclear explosive on his home-town of Keldabe on Mandalore, and terrorist activities on Abregado-Rae. The day I was Knighted and made a Baron, I also took vows before Lady Protector and people of Abregado-Rae."
He looked over the crows slightly,
"I vowed to protect the people of Abregado and the Protectorate with my life, and to lead soldiers under my command to victories with as little casualties possible, so that they may come back home and benefit from the peace we fight so hard to maintain."
HK nodded slightly,
"I realize that not all of you are Protectors, I realize that not all of you are willing to die for the Protectorate and you only need money. I did not come here to ask for your lives, or your deaths, I came here to ask you to help me maintain lives of those who do not want Fringe warships bombarding their planets, Vong artillery burning their cities, or Sith raiding their town. You can ask any of my soldiers,"
He slightly motioned back to the armored officer and other troops about,
"I will sooner let myself be shot than leave you behind during a battle. We will equip you, feed you, give you living space aboard this frigate and our barracks on Abregado-Rae. Between missions or trips you will be free to have a shore leave, or leave altogether if you will sign up as a freelancer mercenary. Missions are single battles or expeditions we are hired for, like when our aid was requested during Siege of Eriadu or we were hired for Battle of Silken Asteroids, trips are longer operations like boarder patrols, or the campaigns against Bando Gora we took part in, we have those only rarely."
The droid would nod slightly, looking over the volunteers gathered,
"Any questions so far?"
He asked slightly as few hands rose in the air.

Levia had a wonderfully bemused expression on his face as the droid leader appeared, looking rather impressive as he did surrounded by his troops. He certainly talked the talk, that was for sure.

Folding his arms and letting his head relax to one side, he listened carefully to the words that this Iron Knight spoke. Hard hitting, motivational and quite to the point, which was refreshing but not unexpected of a droid.

He spoke of the Protectorate, but Levia couldn't deny he wasn't too familiar with this name or what they stood for really. Best he speak up now before he wasted anyone's time.

His hand raised up when the last question was asked by a female Rodian and wasted no time to speak to the Iron Knight himself, his imposing face plate turning to face him.

"Iron Knight, Levia Sol of the Rocka. I'm not familiar with the actions of the Protectorate, to that extent I am not here to represent a people or a place or an Empire at the best. What do you want from those like me with no allegiance to anything, with the exception of walking the path of evil, which is something I will not do."

He swallowed slightly. Did that come across too harsh? Maybe he should soften it.

"Thank you for making us feel so welcome."

Damn. Did that come across as patronising?

Best shut up Levi before you get shot.

Answering the Rodian's question about rations, all supplied by the Iron Chef's Fine Meats and Steaks, the droid turned his attention to the half-Aquar man in his prime who raised his hand. He nodded slightly as he listened to his question before speaking up,
"Well, Protectorate was built around mercenary services, both as professional army and ragtag group. Originally it was called the Omega Pyre, Pyre is still the mercenary division of the Protectorate and my Company belongs to this division. Protectorate has built its own private army, of course, to work solely for the Protectorate to protect the citizens of our territory, but the Pyre still accepts jobs from other factions, it is determined by me which jobs my Company accepts."
The droid nodded slightly, continuing,
"Protectorate hates the Sith, I hate the Sith, as I work against evil. I fought the Sith in Siege of Keldabe, I fought the Bando Gora, dark-side cultists who plagued this land, whenever Sith tried to sabotage works of the Protectorate I was there to aid against them. Before we would start boarding the Tower you will receive early notifications with a summary of what the mission would entail. If you wish to remain neutral, I will not force your allegiance, freelancers have the freedom to decide which missions they choose to join, but remember that you can leave only after the mission if you accept it."
HK slightly tilted his head as Levia thanked him,
"You are welcome, Levia Sol of the Rocka."
The droid inclined his head to him slightly, looking to other volunteers for any more questions.

It was a bit weird thing to say, but it was nothing HK would start shooting people over.

He had everything he needed to hear. It seemed at least for now this Iron Knight and his Protectorate could offer a way forward back into the galaxy he had shrouded himself away form for so long. He could meet people who could shape his life, to give him a purpose and to help others with his powers.

This could also be a chance to learn more about his family name, Sol, and the siblings he had heard about but never met.

Still, that was a long-shot. Levia was here with a ship, a trusty frog as a companion and a loyal droid. It was time to make something of himself out there.

Nodding to the Iron Knight, he craned his neck around to see if there was a specific place he should be. The Wookiee still stood before him, glaring down at him.

"Do I sign up with you then my friend?"

He flashed a smile at the tall beast.

The Wookiee growled out a response that could have been summed up to "I guess so?" although the tall furry humanoid was thinking to himself,
I'll say, what a weird fellow this chap is,
The Wookiee shrugged it off, offering Levia his hand growling out some more in Shyriwook,
[Shyriwook] "Waaagh, aghhh-ooorrrfbacca." (My name is Hoorbacca)

Before they could get too friendly the droid spoke up once more, seeing all of the questions were answered,
"Alright, signs up are done on this table behind with one of the Iron Greycloak Guards, you can have a closer look at our equipment and where you will be bunking once the paperwork is done. The Siege Tower will be making a hyperspace jump back to Abregado-Rae in one day-cycle, so you have a standard day to finish up what loose ends you have in Corellia systems."
The droid would look over the mercenaries and recruits gathered,
"On Abregado you will be show around the planetary barracks there, those of you who will be joining us as full members will be assigned a bunk on the planetside then for the duration of your training, those of you who will only be working as free lancers will be free to go, we will call on you once we shall muster our forces for battle."
HK nodded to them then,
"That is all, at ease."

He would walk over to one of the Engineers who were going to be showing off armor and weapons available to the Iron Company, he gave HK a nod and spoke something up bit quietly as the two started talking.

Meanwhile, the Wookiee nudged Levia, growling out
[Shyriwook] "Graaaah," (Come on,)
As he walked over to one of the lines forming for completing the paperwork

Taking Hoorbacca's large furry hand, Levia shook it and was surprised just how strong a Wookiee's grip really was in person.

"Thanks, I guess."

He was lucky he understood the native tongue of Kashyyyk after spending much of his earlier days there. Amused by the openness of the tall Wookiee, Levia turned once more as the Iron Knight addressed them, and it certainly sounded to Levia he had made the right choice to take himself further into the galaxy and hopefully carve a path for himself. He had nothing else to lose after all.

Checking over again at the Rocka, it was still there amidst the hustle and bustle of the hangar.

Without taking note of the Wookiee, Hoorbacca's firm but gently nudge brought him back to where he was, and he simply went along with the hulking walking carpet to move through to the registration lines, all the while keeping an eye on the armed guards. Impressive to say the least.

Tapping his hands together, Levia looked over the forms as best he could and started to fill out all his details. Well, as much as he could with a history shrouded in so much self-discovery and adventuring. He had no affiliations, no permanent residence, no next of kin that he knew where they were, and a range of Force powers that were less dangerous than others.

He felt he was done, and held the form up to Hoorbacca.

"Do you want this? And what happens to my ship and my possessions on there?"

The Wookiee looked to Levia as he asked about the possessions and ship, Hoorbacca shrugged slightly at the question, growling out what was basically "I dunno." In Shyriwook, he was busy enough filling out his own forms.
The Greycloak nearby did hear Levia's question though, the armored being looked up slightly from the forms,
"Your ship can stay on the Tower for now, your possessions on it. Once we get to Abregado you can request for a space in one of the planetary hangars for your ship, it will be secure there, and a storage space for your possessions if you can not keep them all on your ship."
The being nodded slightly,
"I hope that answers your question."
And he would be back to filling out the paperwork.

Meanwhile, HK looked over the crowds gathered once more, from the post he was taking nearby one of the weapons rack, he was wondering who else would be gathered in a crowd like this he didn't notice, nudge-nudge, wink-wink [member="Kyra Sol"].

A few recruits came up to the droid, they asked for autographs, holding out their datapads.
The droid nodded, taking a styles and signed their datapads with his signature, "HK-36." and a barcode next to it,
"If you scan that with your communicator, you get five free songs off of Abregado-Rae Holo-Vision Network."
HK said, looking up to the recruits,
"Neat!"

Levia couldn't help look at HK-36 with great interest. Something of a celebrity around these parts he suspect, irrelevant of the fact he had never heard of him, but why would he? His presence around the galaxy hadn't been exactly exciting of recent years to say the least.

Deciding to kill some time before the next stage in this manic initiation process, Levia pushed past some more of the eager youngsters in the crowd before him, moving his way towards HK-36. Sadly he wasn't in the market for an autograph, but rather to watch and study this droid who held so much in his tight iron grip.

Surrounded by armed guards, overseeing a huge sign-up for a faction reaching out into the galaxy and signing autographs for fans, he wasn't your usual HK droid that was for sure. Levia shook his head and laughed to himself at the absurdity of it all, but it was nice to be around a tight-knight organisation.

[member="HK-36"]

Kyra had been upon the Siege Tower for the best part of an hour now, and had requested a meeting with the illustrious [member="HK-36"] regarding Bolter gun and ammunition supplies. She also had a new range of ships, off the radar and market front, to offer him and his company at a reduced rate of course. She had a natural affinity towards explorers and adventurers, and since gaining Rahvin Industries from an old acquaintance of the Family she'd had more resources to provide them with exploratory resources. Of course then there was the new deep space probe droid... She figured he might like that, too.

It was nearing the time for their scheduled discussion so she wandered over to him. "Hey HK, about the---" She halted mid word, her eyes darting across to the sound of a voice and a name she had not heard in so long. But the words cut through her and stung. "L-Levia.." she whispered under her breath, taking a step back into a few recruits. No, it couldn't be...

HK noticed Levia in between signing the autographs, glancing up at him slightly,
"Are you doing well, Levia Sol of the Rocka?"
Looking to the recruits he would wave them fare-well, letting them know to run along and check-out the gear the Company had to offer.
"I hope the process of filling out the forms did not gave you much trouble?"
HK slightly tilted his head at Levia, who was just looking at him more or less,

[member="Kyra Sol"]
It was then that Kyra made her appearance, apparently the droid hosted a bit of a reunion on his ship, he nodded to her, inclining his head respectfully as she made herself noticed,
"Miss Kyra, hello."
He greeted her, looking between her and Levia as she whispered off his name, and stared at him,
"You two know each other?"
The droid asked, glancing between the two, unknowing their history.

As Kyra stepped back and knocked into one of the recruit's, the man's chest apparently, he just looked to her with raised eyebrow before a smile appeared on his face,
"Hello there?"
He would look then to one of his bodies, speaking to him,
"Told you, dude, this new body spray is like a magnet on chicks."
"Radical."
The other recruit agreed, apparently it was what the kids were talking like these days.
The two high-fived each other.

Safe to say that patience was a virtue of Levia, he could last far longer than most in certain situations, but this was starting to get a little tiresome now. Was this just some big publicity stunt for the Iron Knight? His form was ready, but nothing was happening. And if another chump stood on his foot...

"I am wonderful, thank you but when do-"

He didn't even know if the Iron Knight had heard him, he just carried on.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, he jostled past an angry looking Bith to come around to HK once more, and already he was chatting to another autograph hunter it seemed.

And then, the whole hangar just fizzled away around him. That wasn't an autograph hunter. The old droid has just confirmed that, by way of announcing her name. Kyra.

Kyra Sol. His half-sister.

He just stared at her young face. Young, but far older since the last time he had seen her, which was around 10 years. 10 whole years without knowing anything and now... now this.

"I...Kyra?"

Apart from his Frog, his droid and his ship, he had no-one else to call family, and he was in a state of shock. And also flailing for words at this time.

Kyra?

"Wh..." He half smiled, half frowned, shaking his head. "You've grown up."

[member="Kyra Sol"] [member="HK-36"]

She looked between HK and Levia, uncertain of which she despised more at that present moment in time: HK for permitting him to be onboard or Levia for what his family had done to her and the way he so casually spoke to her.

Her gaze snapped around to the fools who were talking in such a derogatory manner to her, the glare she gave them enough to put any man off and send them scampering away with their tails between their legs.

When she looked back to HK she was just as mad. "I'll return when company is more appropriate" she said, extending out a datapad to HK. "This is a list of what I would offer you, and the relevant prices. I'm sure some of it will appeal to you. I'll be waiting on the Bucket."

She did not even react to Levia verbally instead she turned on her heels and made to leave. There hadn't been enough warning in place for her to deal with this. From there she ventured to the docking bay within which the Bucket had been docked. She had no intentions of flying from HKs vessel, she would wait it out and see what happened, provided HK or Levia did not stop her before she left their presence.

Levia was even more confused with Kyra's reaction, almost like he had expected something more than being blanked. He looked towards the HK droid, offering a small shrug.

"Can you process my application to your company please? I need...I'll just be....yeah..."

He flippantly pointed to the papers left on the table by Hoorbacca, distracted enough by moving past more bodies to reach Kyra to find out if she was just who he thought.

--

As Kyra was moving out of the enlisting crows back towards the docked ships, Levia glanced over at the Rocka. Still there, still intact.

He picked up the pace and walked beside the girl, who he could feel was fuming with emotion. It didn't feel good. She had he head down, solid footsteps thumping across the hangar.

"You could be a little nicer Kyra. I haven't seen you in over 10 years."

Levia side-stepped to let a Gonk droid pass between them.
