Private A Sticky Situation

Jorrann sighed at Scerra's doubts he couldn't blame her being skeptical, but this was a chance for them to start from somewhere. "Scerra," Jorrann said while she inspected the Swoop Bike. "This is the most we've ever been paid, do you wanna go back to shoveling chit in the septic tank? Or try to repair pipes that are filled with gunk and other monsters that infested the place?"

He placed his hands Scerra's slender shoulders. Though Jorrann was aware that Scerra was always frightened of almost everything, there were times that she needed to get out of her comfort zone. "It's not the money," Jorrann whispered. "It's the potential to have more jobs, if we can get Pald's approval, he could start recommending us to his friends which will snowball into better jobs and more pay."

Pald walked by Jorrann and Scerra slamming his fist against the large red button. A large door slowly opened revealing a bright light as well as hot wind blowing against the couple's skin. "Just finished it last month," Pald said. "You can exit from here, so your girlfriend is on board is with this?"

Scerra frowned, but leaned into Jorran as he put his hand on her shoulders. Jorrann was right that they couldn’t hope to get this sort of offer somewhere else. They were unknowns. But Scerra wasn’t all that convinced that Pald was going to be the way to make a name for themselves either. Maybe they succeed and get Pald’s place back up and running, but that didn’t sound like the type of reputation they were looking to get. Not at first at least. Taking on the task of a diner owner against a gang sounded like it would bring on more stupidly dangerous jobs.

Maybe being the ones that stole from this gang would be a good way to show they were capable of big jobs with long odds. But it could also put a target on their backs again. This gang wasn’t likely to just let them take what was stolen from Pald and just move along. And there was no way that Scerra and Jorrann could hope to end the gang. Scerra gave a deep sigh and leaned into Jorrann even more.

“Still don’t like it,” Scerra said meekly. “But don’t see we have any better offers coming our way. I guess we’re going to get your stolen generator back.”

Jorann smiled he knew that Scerra was always going to be cautious and in a way she was right some of the time. But sometimes, one must take a risk in order to achieve what they most desire. For the two of them, it was a ship and plenty of food to eat. "I'm glad you agree," Jorrann said giving Scerra a peck on the cheek. "We'll go in, grab the generator and get out. Easy."

"I assure the reward will be worth it," Pald said his scaly lips stretched into a grin. "Don't worry about any possible retaliations by the Red Rockets. I got other people who can take care of that."

"Right then," Jorrann hopped on the speeder motioning Scerra to hop on. "Let's get going then!"

Things were looking up after all.
