A test of loyalty and dedication

Vengeance just looked at her.

"Was that boy a threat to you?" "Had he wronged you?" "Was reason did he have to deserve death?"

Vengeance paused.

"While we are on the topic why did you hesitate to kill the man and woman but not the boy?"

[member="Anya Loma"]

She looked down and dropped her baton, she looked to her hands a s she shook

He...you told me to....I was just following your command...i...he wasn't a threat b..but you said to kill

She said as she closed her eyes so she didn't have to see a thing

Because you didn't say to kill or not to...I looked to you for their judgment....I felt if I liked them without your approval I'd be punished " she shook

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance listened to her stumble through her answer.

"Why wait for me to tell you anything?" "The man was a threat he tried to kill you." "Yet you would spare his life."

He paused.

"The woman was a threat she tried to kill you." "Yet you would spare her."

He paused again.

"The boy however was not a threat to you yet you killed him without hesitation." "So of course the question becomes why spare a threat but kill an innocent."

[member="Anya Loma"]

Because I wanted to know what to do!

She said as she yelled and looked up at him panting as she looked down again" I didn't know own whether to kill them or not you gave no answer to their fate so I ended the the kid you told me to kill and I listened to you I listened and killed hik because you said so and that then became his fate!

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance waited until she finished.

"Yes I know and I intentionally didn't influence your decision in any way."

Vengeance slowly walked up to her stopping only a foot or two away.

"It was a test Anya...................your test." "To pass or fail on your own."

Vengeance paused.

"It is a very simple philosophy especially for a Sith." "You eliminate a threat." "Unlike the Jedi you do not leave it a live to come back to threaten you again." "When you get out in the Galaxy people just like that man...............like that woman are going to be faced with a similar situation."

Vengeance looked off in the distance.

"Every time a world is claimed it's people face a choice." "Submit to a new rule or die defending the old one." "Resistances are built and bred by leaving a person loyal to a former regime alive to try and bring that regime back to power."

Vengeance turned back to look at Anya.

"The reverse..............a boy who was not a threat." "You killed him and as a result removed a potential asset." "That boy could have been useful to you, could have had a skill set or piece of knowledge you could have used to further your position."

Vengeance smiled.

"That boy could have had a secret that undermined me that could have been used against me." "However you will never know that because you didn't question why an unarmed bond boy needed to die."

[member="Anya Loma"]

She looked at him as he spoke, so this was a test, all a cruel test

I..it was all a test?!

Some of it made sense now...she had elongated a threat that would now not come back in the future to attack her..and potentially next time kill her

However hearing about the child she froze, she could've spared him and used him...now she couldnt...she would have to wait for another opportunity" i...i see my master...I understand this failure...

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance looked at her.

"Do you?" "What do you understand?" "What have you learned?"

Vengeance didn't figure she would get the right answer. After all in their last session he had gone to great links explaining the importance of out smarting your opponent. Yet she had been so quick to just do whatever he said with considering the why. As it was none of the three prisoners even knew his name much less who or what Vengeance was. They had been plucked form their homes at random just before they landed.

[member="Anya Loma"]

I have learned two things, one is that all who attack you must die unless they can be used, and all that don't can be used to gain what you want be it a advantage or power

She said as she bowed her head not looking up at him as shearly radiated hate..anger...and pain from what she just did...

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance shook his head.

"No................well you are half right." "If it's trying to kill you kill it." "That part you have correct."

He paused.

"However when they are not a threat then you have to consider whether or not to spare them or kill them." "Nobody can tell you this." "You have to decide what is the best outcome."

Vengeance motioned with his hand towards the boy's body.

"He knew nothing of value." "Not even my name nor yours, nor who brought him here." "However every life can have value." "He could have grown up to be a great military commander, potentially a great spy to embed with an enemy government or organization, maybe if found to be able to use the Force trained in our ways."

Vengeance paused.

"Or he could have been spared for no other reason than to be used here on the world to garner favor with the locals, or to provide a safe place to hide, refuel, recuperate, or just rest our feet without anyone finding us that we didn't want to."

"Everyone is an asset when properly utilized as such."

[member="Anya Loma"]

She bowed her head, she was glad she was half right finally she did something at least a little right, she looked up a little as she gave a nod

I understand sir, everyone has a use to someone...and can be used as a item to trade

She said trying to put it in the short version to remember

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance shook his head.

"No not as an item." "While inferior they are still people Anya." "While we may use them as pawns we never treat them as such." "Lest they bite the hand that feeds them." "Every person has their breaking point." "Push to hard and they may turn against you.................then you have wasted a perfectly good asset." "Then you would have to start all over."

Vengeance paused.

"See what causes a power like the One Sith to fail is they forgot the importance and the impact the little people have on the bigger picture." "Every Empire needs soldiers, pilots, farmers, politicians, and yes even annoying little Acolytes." "There are not and will never be enough Sith Knights and Lords to do it all on our own." "They need us and we need them."

[member="Anya Loma"]

She listened again and nodded, so treat them like people whIle you use them, and then you have a perfectly good person you can manipulate and use

However she couldn't help but give a light chuckle at the annoying little acolytes part, she knew he referenced to her...even if he didn't it was still a little humor

I see, and I understand now, everyone is a person and has their own worth, what you do with said people decides what happens, push them to the limit and you lose your advantage...but manipulate and you have assets

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance nodded.

"As we go along your understanding will grow." "You see Anya I am not like most Sith." "I find value in people and things that most Sith don't." "And I don't kill indiscriminately.........at least i haven't in a long time."

Vengeance paused.

"Now you fighting style..............it's too aggressive and uncontrolled." "Have you thought about which form you want to focus on?"

[member="Anya Loma"]

*she looked at him and nodded*

I see, I hope by the end I will understand many things that you teach me, or that I learn on my own

She said and then thought for a moment

Form VII I feel it would suit my aggressive style sir

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance nodded.

"Aggression........................"

Vengeance looked at Anya.

"There is nothing wrong with aggression.............it is a very Sith like trait." "However you must learn to temper that aggression."

He stopped and look at her for a moment.

"You like fire think of it this way." "If you add to much fuel to fire to quickly do you not run the risk of smothering it?" "Along the same token if you burn all of your fuel in the first hour then you run out quickly and the fire dies."

Vengeance let his words sink in for a moment.

"The Force is the same way..................form seven is the same way." "To keep up all the aggression up you much use the Force to do so." "Using the Force is exhausting..........once you get exhausted you can no longer keep using it." "Once you reach that state you leave yourself vulnerable."

Vengeance smiled.

"It is why I use form two..............it requires very little effort to be effective and there fore can be used for longer."

[member="Anya Loma"]

She listened to him as he explained Vaapad, she did like fire and this quickly clicked inside her head as she did have that experience before when she tried to light a place on fire...she put to much fuel to quickly and no fire

I see, the form suits your style my master

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance chuckled.

"How do you know that?" "A week ago you didn't even know it existed much less what it was."

He didn't wait for an answer.

"Anyways we need to work on your strength if you are going to use that form."

Vengeance smiled.

"So that is what we will base your training on." "From now on you will wear heavy robes when we train." "Also you are going to wear weights on your wrists and ankles."

He paused.

"Nothing too heavy you don't want you putting on a bunch of muscle and looking like a baby rancor on steroids." "Just enough weight to tone you up a little bit and then work on endurance from that point on." "In doing this we will make everything seem light and by default your actions will carry more power behind them."

[member="Anya Loma"]

She went to speak but closed her mouth and listened, weighted robes? Weights on her wrist and ankles? Made some sense to her as he kept in explaining before finally it made sense, however she couldn't help but laugh for a second at the baby rancor on steroids parts before the smile and laugh quickly disappeared as she nodded with a straight face

I understand sir and I am ready to begin so
