Abandoned : The Discovery

Unknown Coordinates : Silken Asteroids | @[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

With the exit from hyperspace the vessel immediately threw warning lights in the vessel. Asteroid fragments pinged against the hull, the larger pieces hopefully deflected by their shields before sensor arrays or an arm of the ship came off. Today, Judah and his small crew(another "Claw" vessel) were headed into the asteroids in search of salvage. Unlike business such as Silk Holdings, Judah had hired beings far more intelligent than himself to handle the day to day operations. Heck, Sedna Mining was run nearly on its own. Judah took in messages each day and gave his feedback and desires.

Salvage and droidworks? That was different. Judah loved having his hands dirty. Tinkering, plotting a new gadget, ripping old salvageable parts from the earth were all up his alley. Thus he remained the most involved in that aspect of the business. Keeping it small, expanding on his own terms.

Yet today -- if his intel was correct -- the salvage wasn't small. Rumor had it an old space station was just floating out here. The station would be excellent if it could be repaired, fixed, towed back to a nearer location to his business holdings at the southern end of the Galaxy. Well....they were at the southern end of the Galaxy. Judah needed the station moved more to the left, to align with the Rimma Trade Route.

If that was here.

Controls shaking slightly, Judah radioed to the vessel also doing the searching next to himself.

"Keep an heads up, both for this station and the larger asteroids. Also, I've heard mynocks run out here. Lets keep them away from our vessels, huh?"

A confirmation came back, Judah nodding to himself more than anything. On his vessel was a young woman, a Miss Cinthra who had been hired to help assess what would be found out the in asteroid field/graveyard. Judah suspected there had to be something out in the vastness of space. No way was he going home empty handed. Even if he had to throw on an envirosuit and grab a rock.

"Doing all right Miss Cinthra? We're heading deeper into the asteroids now"

As if on cue, the lights on the Claw vessel protested, dimming and returning to full power with each strike. To make matters worse, his wife's trusty little astromech Sparky was morosely chiming in, giving an opinion about his flying skills in such a time as this.

"I'm a former Republic fighter pilot or did you forget that Sparky? I think I can dodge some asteroids."

Alexandra didnt stand far behind him as she watched the stones glide by and some impact on the ships hull. She wasnt quite sure why she had the urge to take a job but hey, could be worse and she needed the money so sitting here in a seat near the pilot was where she would find herself in the ship.. She watched as the man moved through the stones and then as he spoke to her and responded to his droid, she couldnt help but smile at the droids comment as she started her own. "Im fine so far, thank you, what is it were after again, i wasnt paying much attention to the briefing apparently." @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

@[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

"Well, Miss Cinthra rumor has it there is either an extremely large capital ship or a space station within this asteroid belt. According to our information this has been used as a type of a galactic dumping ground over the years. Can't say I'm surprised. Steal something its normally a little hard to get rid of. Or...folks just don't care. Some don't wanna go through the hassle of actually taking it to scrap."

Maneuvering the Claw was like trying to keep a plastic bag steady in a windstorm. Add the asteroids and the pings and dents continued to add up. Chatter from the other Claw vessel continued to filter in to their cockpit. The second crew was scouting for the same thing. Any large salvage would do, but Judah would have to continue the hunt for this fabled space station. Finding it was becoming a personal quest.

"Looks like we've got something near our quadrant. If you can, head over and check it out."

"Copy that." Struggling to get the Claw headed in a more westerly direction, Judah did his best to dodge the large asteroids. You know, the ones that could easily kill the both of them. "So, why'd you take the job? Need credits or just felt like coming out on a crazed mission?"

"Little bit of both, also interested in the history behind the wreckage and what it might hold for the future, you know, historical records and the navigation charts as well as last diaries of the crew. Its all so fascinating and exciting at the same time." Her hands crossed behind her as she looked out the view port, scanning over what visible wreckage she could and the many asteroids that passed close by. @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

(Sorry for the short post)

@[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

"So you're a quasi-historian and archaeologist? Excellent hobby to have. One never knows what they'll find out here in space."

Dings and dents continued to add up on the hull of the Claw. Judah winced a little, moving through the asteroids with the vessel. Holotransmission sensor was completely knocked out, but they'd have short range communication between vessels thankfully. Scraping along at their slow pace, a glint came into view. A dented and damaged space station sat off to the edge of the asteroid belt, swirling masses of asteroids and rocks encircled the station. From his vantage point, it looked almost as if there was a tear open to the void of space along one of the sides. Not long, perhaps a few floors.

"Approach with caution, looks like we can still dock. Vac suits on, obviously." Judah glanced over to his temporary employee "Looks like you're going to get the chance to get some exploring done."

[[OOC - No big deal at all. Also, just returned from LOA, so post will be short myself.]]

She smiled and shifted, her eyes scanning over what illuminated surfaces that Alexandra could study, her silver eyes piercing through what darkness she could. Once the man spoke though she turned in a single motion and crossed her arms behind her and letting her hands cross one over the other. "Well, how about we get too it, you have a station to salvage and we have history to acquire and save from the blackness of space and the depths of of the void, dont you think?" She fell in step with the man and headed for the Vac suit storage area, taking her a few minutes to find and don the suit at the first airlock. Once done she looked to the others for conformation as well as checking her suits systems and the mic. "All clear?" @[member="Judah Dashiell"]

@[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

Left to dock the ship, the Claw glided smoothly with the port located on the abandoned space station. A small bounce off the hull of the moving station, a hiss, and they were locked in. Hands glided across the controls, securing the vessel in place and getting a lock. The vac suits hung along the spartan corridor, with Judah pulling one on while Miss Cinthra dealt with her own. He was already starting to sweat inside the suit and was grateful for the life support system humming to life and pumping some cooler air from the tanks. Latches were triple checked and the pressure seemed to be holding inside. Looked the like only thing holding them back was opening the door.

"We're clear. Lets head out."

Grabbing the handle of the rolling toolbox and flicking on their headlamps, Judah hit the door latch. Immediately they were greeted by floating debris and the creaking and groaning of the station. Distantly the pings and hits of the asteroids could be heard.

"Looks like a real mess." Stepping into the station, he batted away some of the floating debris. "Alright....we're going in blind. No map for this place. First lets find the maintenance and control areas and see if this thing still has shields."

Being the young sister brought from the backwater planet of Saleucami after their father's death, Jinny thought it would be useful she learned something. Although she found her older brothers work to be boring and incredibly nerdy, it wasn't everyday he was salvaging a space station. One that had been abandoned. With enough haggling between her mother and Judah, Jinny had gotten a spot to tag along.

Being from a backwater, she had little idea on how some of this technology was supposed to work. Take the vac suit. Here she was, struggling to walk down the corridors at a normal pace. Go too fast and she'd float away. At least, thats what she had been told. Shuffling along at a snails pace, Jinny's hand held light bounced off the walls ominously. Creaking echoed throughout the space, adding to the overall creepy feeling. It was hard to keep the stories of flesh-eating monsters out of her mind.

"We better find this control room soon" She muttered darkly, glancing around.

"Aw,don't worry kid,if anything jumps out at you I'll kill it with my blaster." Noah said as the shuffled down the hall, which gained laughter from the four other Pyre commandos that were with him. "So,first time being off planet huh? I know how you feel,I was scared poodooless when I got posted on another planet and I had to leave Coruscant, but I guess Saleucami is a bit different." Noah informed her with a slight smiled as he walked down the passage and checked his Mark III Lancer to check it was fine.

Alexandra's steps brought her slowly into the vacuum of space and then into the station that lay desolate and silent, her eyes ran across what they could as she activated the light attached to the Vac suit and looked at @[member="Judah Dashiell"]. "Where to first then captain." Her head turned to look at him and wait for his response. Her eyes continued to wander and study the surroundings for flaws.

Walking along the dark corridor with [member="Noah Corek"], Jinny gave him an aggravated look. At least, the best she could managed being stuck in this zero G vac-suit with lights on the helmet. Secretly, Jinny hoped she blinded the commando just a little. It would serve him right for calling her 'kid'.

"No. This is my second time off planet. I don't live on Saleucami any more."

Hoisting her flashlight up to search the corridor uppers, the creaking only continued. She wondered if the station was actually structurally sound. It had been exposed to nothing but asteroids and the vasty nothingness for so long. Hanging a right, Jinny was making her way further towards the center of the massive station. According to her brother once the station's power was on they would be able to tow it back to a planet where Salacia had a presence. Much easier to work on than in the middle of an asteroid field.

"Why'd you bring the heavy equipment? Expecting mynocks? What else can live in space?"

[member="Alexandra Cinthra"]

"Captain? Thats the wife. Never made it that far in the military."

A smile graced his features as he towed along the toolbox filled to the brim with equipment. Judah had zero idea how bad of shape the central systems were. All he knew is he didn't want to walk back and forth for parts on a constant basis. Shining his light on the walls, the scruffy salvager was clearly looking for any markings of where to go. Currently there were none to be found, but there was a small hunch on where to head.

"Well....this is a custom station. No schematics for it. However....Experience has taught me things like the central control panels are almost always located in the center of the station. Which floor or section, no idea. Hopefully when we get closer there will be some type of indicator. Mind keeping an eye out?"

Noah was indeed slightly blinded by Jinny when she turned her headlights on him and blasted his Vac-Suits faceplate with the light. Noah raised a eyebrow when she said it was the second time she had left Saleucami. "If you not staying on Saleucami anymore, where are you staying?" Noah asked politely as they walked. When the kid asked why he and his soldiers brought the heavy gear he chuckled. "Just blaster rifles kid,but there could be some Bando Gora or other things lurking..." Noah said, grinning as he decided to tease her.

Alexandra smiled and laughed abit before she started walking and spoke once more. "Shame i was going to check the hull for the database, i mean it is easier to access that way, should it had been there." She walked slowly in the suit and stared about the area as she walked, the walls for any breaks or areas of danger that could threaten their lives because of a flaw. [member="Judah Dashiell"]

Cocking her head slightly, Jinny tried to place any of the names [member="Noah Corek"] had listed. Bando Gora wasn't ringing a bell to her. Nor was anything else scary popping to mind besides mynocks. Jinny had very limited experience in the galaxy at large. Living on Saleucami was like living in a void. There wasn't much there before the Republic had knocked on their doortstep. In all honesty, Jinny still doubted there would be much there now.

"I live on Kesh now. Its very....uhm...different."

Jinny still couldn't get over the fact she could see slivers of ocean from their apartment window.

"Database? There might be a chance there is one here. Keep your eyes open." The duo came upon a central lift system. The only problem? No power int he station yet. Judah quickly got to work ripping open the panel and exposing the wiring. In the large rolling toolcase, he pulled out a power source and got to work attaching it to the various lines leading out. Quiet for several long moments, green lights started to flash on the panel. Reaching up and pressing a button to open the doors, the lift came into view. It was lit only with emergency power but if Judah did his work right it should be safe enough.

"Ladies first."

Gathering the tools up, he taped the large power supply to the wall so it wouldn't float away. Entering the lift, he looked at Cinthra.

"See anything that might be marked maintenance or engine room?"

Noah's eyes widened when Jinny didn't even mention anything he said about the Bando Gora. "Woah, wait you've never heard of the Bando Gora? Wow you really have lived a happy and sheltered life." Noah stated flatly as they walked down the dark and foreboding hallway. "Kesh? Why are you living on-Oh yeah, your brothers wife is Galan, isn't she?" Noah asked as he heard what he though what was the flapping of tiny little wings.

"Having the Republic mess up your only home. Very happy and sheltered." Jinny said a little heated. She must have caught some of her brothers tone recently.Perhaps it ran in the family, although she had never heard her mother utter such words in a manner. Peering around the corner to check for what she thought was the sound of leathery wings flapping, Jinny continued on. She was certain they were getting closer to....something....now.

"I don't know. I don't ask. I don't see any other types of her type on Kesh though. I live there because Salacia Consolidated is headquartered there."

"Hey,watch your tongue kid,I was a commando for thirteen years. I admit it had its downfalls but at least they tried. Would you rather have been a part of the Empire?" Noah asked with venom evident in his voice as they walked. "What in hells is that noise!?" Noah screamed out, irate,as he got his answer only a few seconds later as a huge flock of mynocks came flying through.

Her hands and eyes went to work, running over surfaces and displays as her own eyes ran a million miles a minute. Her mind was in tech mode and as she continued to run her way though the information around her she smiled at her find. "Found it, one min..." She moved into the lift and scanned over the console that was being provided power and entered into the system as her fingers moved almost instinctively. After a few seconds she stepped back and their decent began as she looked over the station's walls cautiously, ready to do as was needed in case of emergency. "Give it a minute or two and we will be in the maintenance and generator area."
