"Sometime I wonder if there is a difference in the two." Her brother had been a Republic fighter pilot but it didn't stop her musings. She personally had no loyalty to the Republic. The only good thing going for them was their anti-slavery stance at this point. Listening to the distant flapping, the Commando was soon screaming in surprise. Jinny had never seen the creatures before. They looked like flying gray fowl, only featherless. A bat like creature?

Forgetting she had on life support suit on, Jinny attempted to cover her frizzy and curly hair. It was out of pure habit. She huddled against the wall, crouched as the bat things occasionally beat their wings against her.

"They seem a little angry."

"Minute or so? Not too shabby. Good work."

Silence gathered around them, just the hum of the turbolift could be heard. Every so often is squeaked or protested in its process. Judah kept telling himself that the turbolift probably hadn't ran in many, many years. Light bounced around the small space as they waited. It didn't take long however for the lift to stop and throw him into a wall. Apparently the brakes still worked, just quite jerkily. Doors slid open after a bit of hesitation and the pair disembarked from their ride.

They had arrived in the maintenance room. Equipment and terminals were lined up in the expansive space. In the middle the large generator that supplied the space station with its power sat like a sentinel. Judah turned his head to it, light casting over it.

"Looks so far, so good. Some of those control panels don't look too great though. Probably need a bit of hot wiring."

Work echoed through the cavernous station. The engine room did prove useful, the long-quiet equipment finally coming to life. It supplied the workers with the suited environment for further exploration : lights, gravity and oxygen. After finding leaks, certain areas of the space station were cut off from the life support systems, crews pulling on their cumbersome enviro suits to work. Patching the areas made the space station look even more terrible ; like a crashed podracer coming out of the Tattooine sands. Yet it was all temporary. Crews would be moving in soon to replace holes with quality durasteel and glasteel. Dents made from asteroids would be hammered out and smoothed.

It was going to take a lot to turn what most considered a hunk of junk into a real working station. One folks would actually buy. Yet the goal remained undeterred, the space station would become a glittering jewel at the south end of the Galaxy.
