- Role: Bodyguard/Infiltration Unit
- Permissions: Hekler'Kok Permission, GA War Manifest
- Links: Lao-mon, Maranatha
- Unit Name: Abzu Honor Guard
- Affiliation: House Organa, Galactic Alliance
- Classification: Bodyguard, Infiltration Squad
- Description: The Abzu Honor Guard is most recognizable while in their full kit. Sporting black armor with dark blue highlights, armorweave hoods, and bedecked in weapons, this group is unlike any other unit in Alderaan’s history. Usually operating in teams from four to ten, they are quiet, dutiful, and vigilant, equally at home securing a gala as they are stealthing into restricted areas. While out of their armor, being shapeshifters, they can look like anything, adept at mimicking the moods of those around them, and fading into the background. They use this ability well as plain clothes guards and House Organa spies.
- Unit Size: Small
- Unit Availability: Rare
- Unit Experience: Veteran
- Equipment:
- GACA-14 Nemean Armor, Modified for their physiology
- Armorweave Hood
- Hekler'Kok CBR-01 Blaster Rifle
- G.O.O. Grappler
- Hekler'Kok VB-01 Vibroblade
- Hekler'Kok C/UK-01 Vibroknife
- Combat Function: In battle, the Abzu are fluid, using their talents as Shi’ido well. Special gaps in their armor let this Honor Guard stretch and contort themselves to dodge and block attacks to their charge. At range, the Abzu are able to fit themselves into almost any cover, using heavy blasters or their non-lethal grapplers to pick off opponents. Their true strength lies in melee, where they use their shifting bodies and cortosis-weave vibroblades to crash against their opponents like a wave against the shore, acting as a solid support to whoever is the VIP in the eye of their storm. While out of kit for stealth or disguise reasons, the Abzu are still trained Shi’ido warriors who are more than a match for most rank-and-file, whether by creating natural weapons and armor, or producing whatever vibroknives and small arms they can smuggle inside of their bodies.
- Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): All Shi’ido are Force-Sensitive to an extent, used primarily to mask any imperfections in their shapeshifted disguises. The Abzu Honor Guard have also been trained to augment their reflexes, speed, and strength with the Force, but that is the extent of their average Force training.
- Like the Ocean: United by purpose and constant training together, House Organa’s Honor Guard can seem to have one mind on the battlefield, their contorted bodies moving in perfect sync with each other. Their physique makes them unpredictable, and their combat style is far more difficult to adapt to than the average soldier.
- Subtlety and Flexibility: This is a unit of warriors equally at home checking sightlines at a gala, as they are dropping behind enemy lines. Whether a member or friend of House Organa needs a party secured, a lead tailed, or an infil/exfil, this is the squad.
- Shi’ido Physiology: Tricky shapeshifting, the Force, and sometimes centuries of combat training are all benefits of the Abzu.
- Symmetrical Warfare: The Abzu Honor Guard will not do well if they are thrown into an open battlefield. Their strengths lie in dropping behind enemy lines and completing objectives, not digging in.
- Hard to Replace: The Abzu are hard to kill, but entirely killable nonetheless. Each death is felt, and therefore, none are expendable.
- Shi’ido Physiology: Extreme cold, and certain targeted diseases can incapacitate a Shi’ido well enough. In addition, while their combat armor is useful, while they are fully kitted out, it hinders how wild their transformations can be.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Lao-mon had fallen.
During the Second Great Hyperspace War, the Brotherhood of the Maw attacked the Shi’ido homeworld, subjugating the world and making it uninhabitable for it’s native population. Through the efforts of Count Alicio Organa and Shi’ido diplomat Inanna Yomin, a home on Alderaan was made for the refugees fleeing the Sith, named Maranatha. Here, the Shi’ido were allowed to thrive and rebuild, and even after Lao-mon was liberated and made habitable once more, a large majority of the population of Maranatha stayed in their new home.
During a visit to see an opera, Alicio was nearly assassinated by a Shi’ido terrorist, and while he was saved by Inanna, the people of Maranatha were mortified that their patron had almost died within their city. Volunteers from the populace, veterans from past wars and young fighters with fire in their eyes, banded together, pledging themselves to the safety of a noble house who had endured much to see their people safe, and started training. Presented to Alicio Organa upon his ascension as King of Alderaan, the Abzu were quickly made into an official branch of the House Organa Honor Guard, and once outfitted with Alliance and Alderaan-based Hekler’Kok weapons and armor, proved to be a most effective fighting force, able to both protect their charge on the battlefield, and fade into the background at political events.
