Addictions, Mr. Dorn?

"Nothing."

She was very plain about things. Honest; but not exactly articulate. It wasn't every day she had a conversation with someone about anything.

She was still lounging in front of him, fairly sprawled out and she stretched. It was odd how oddly comfortable she was acting. Finally she twisted herself a bit before allowing her legs to slide off and her bare feet touched the floor until she was properly sitting up. "The truth is, Kiber, that you weren't chosen by anyone but me. I saw you before my eyes did, that's rare." She was talking about his signature in the force. It wasn't like he was very powerful right now but there was a potential for him to be.

Whether or not he knew about it didn't matter, she saw in him the potential to be a weapon.

As a man used to having his advances rebuffed he wasn't too offended by the snubbery of the gods. Hey, they had time to come around, all four of them their faces.

It wasn't so bad, at least somebody had noticed him...although then again, wasn't that why he had been hiding out in slums with junkies for half of his life? First his cousin, now her? Were these the signs? Was it finally time to grow up, or rather grow into the shoes that had been set before him?

He frowned, folding his lanky arms across his chest.

“Potential, huh?” he said, sounding almost downtrodden at the very notion of such.

Gods aside, he did believe that the Force had paths set out for every being in existence and that while good serious-face Cedric Dorn had hunted him down, this woman had found him. Did he want to go further? Down that rabbit hole of potential? What was he so scared of expectations? Letting people down?

“So let's say I'm down. Where do we go, where do I go from here?”

He was being more cooperative as they spoke, that was good.

Anja didn't know what he was worth but she did know what he could be worth given the time.. It was almost like making a diamond, you started out with dirt and given enough time and pressure you got the gemstone you always wanted. He needed discipline, pressure, and with time and training he'd become a star pupil. The object of envy.

"I will train you as my apprentice, you will learn all that you can and become stronger." She didn't have some grand speech about how she was going to methodically reshape him in some poetic version of rebirth as a religious clergyman. No, it was the classic tale of master and apprentice except in this case it was a zealous leader and a drug dealer. Quite odd what backgrounds some of the greatest people came from and as long as he obeyed her he would be one of those stories for the kids... Of how the lowly drug addict became the prized apprentice of the Great Anja Aj'Rou.

Yet; would he want to be a tale?

With arms still folded across his chest he remained steeped in thought.

It was clearly his path, every sign in the known galaxy seemed to point towards it. How much longer could he keep running away for? Hell, if he ran away now who said he was going to get out of here alive?

Funny how in this galactic plain so often steeped in war, where great egos clashed doing increasingly preposterous things he stood, with absolutely no desire for power. No real thirst for greatness. Could he amount to anything without that craving? Well, I guess that's what she would be there for as his Master.

Gentle encouragement, he was sure.

After the pause in conversation reserved for such moments of thought he finally responded. “Deal,” he said rather bluntly, quite unlike his usual self. Guess it was his time after all.

Feth, he needed a cigarra.

Good.

His acceptance of her offer was a pleasing thing. It was an apprenticeship unlike any other in the galaxy because from now on he would be her servant, her enforcer, and above all the one she'd eventually have to trust the most just as he would have to trust her.
Of course he wouldn't be the only one in this position, there were others and if he truly desired this place in the galaxy he would have to fight tooth and nail for his pride and her respect.

"Good, from now on you will accompany me and conduct tasks on my behalf. You will learn under me as well, we will train together." Her explanation was as short as usual.

This was a good day. "There are formalities that come with your position.. Foremost you need to explore our religion in greater detail but you will be regarded highly within our ranks. Second only to myself." And so it was settled.
