Adventures in m-State

The ship, she spent a lot of time on ships, "So [member="Craig Janson"] what is this little darlings name?" She walked towards her cabin, perks of being the pilot couldn't mess with that logic. Course now it was interesting.

She stood there in the doorway, tossed her bag towards the bed. Let's see she thought, Craig, Jon, Aiden and I on this ship. The odds are interesting, me and three of them. And if the other two are who I think they are, life just got infinitely more enjoyable. Aiden. She missed his smirky little smiles of shyness, she missed that never gonna catch a break am I look. Jon. His flirtatious ways of luring women in she could be just as bad, men didn't mind her company she had no problem getting them, it was holding on, or in Remy's case it was keeping his interest. No, that was something she and Jon understood, what it was like to sleep alone, and feel alone even when someone is sitting right next to you.

Feth all she need was Greg on this ship and she'd actually believe that she was really in hell rather than on a long flight.

She would have to admit to the feelings she had about Greg. She never did know if he made it of Corellia, maybe he was on that piece that survived, or maybe he wasn't even there.

Rekha unpacked one thing was certain, she might have to buy a few more clothes. She held the ewok in her hands precious beyond all measure even if only to her. "Life day is coming maybe we can do a toy drive along the well. Send some stuff to...the orphanage on Alderaan." She wasn't really talking to anyone, just outloud.

She set the Ewok on the bed. "time to work."

"Craig, where are you? You ready? And I got a question" This thing with his ears, what if she did the loops would he still have problems? Cause once on the way, she wasn't sure what they'd encounter maybe they'd need another medical droid, or some micro med bots.

Aiden lay down next to her propped on an elbow and took a peek under the sheets, grinning wolfishly as his eyes raised back up and caught hers in an unspoken question… which she blithely ignored while leaning back, smiling demurely. Oh she did like to play with him - and he loved it.

He relaxed and lay down on his back; his hand finding hers and claiming it.

“Oh, we’re exiting the mists. I made the last two or three runs to get us out while you were napping. The autopilot is set to make the run on to Naboo. We have four days or so…”

The implication was obvious… at least in Aiden’s mind. But, maybe this interlude was his chance to tell her about what to expect when they got to Naboo.

“Ahh, Mel… when we get to Naboo, we’ll be staying at an associate’s lake house outside Keren. His name is Craig Janson and he’s an old friend of Jon Burke’s.”

“We will be meeting with Craig and Jon and analyzing information we’ve been gathering about a planet with some obscure power source that’s been lost in the Unknown Regions for, what seems, several millennia.”

He rolled onto his side so he could observe her reactions as he spoke. This project was important to Aiden, but, not nearly as important to him as she was. If she was totally against it, he would give the information and his best advice on finding the planet to them and bow out. He just hoped she would see it as an adventure of a lifetime as he did.

“I’ve had concerns about my university affiliations and some of the sponsors they have accepted contracts with lately. I don’t think they are in it for the benefits of academia. That’s where Jon and Craig come into the picture. They are providing a ship with research equipment and roomy enough to be comfortable on the long trip.”

“It’s too far and too big a project for me to try alone… or just the two of us alone.”

He saw the scowl in her eyes and the pout forming on her lips. He kissed his fingertip and put it gently on her lips, asking, “Reserve judgement for now. Meet Craig and help us look at the information. If you don’t feel comfortable with the plan, I’ll turn it over to them and I’ll take you to see Arbra - the planet that’s home to me.”

Arbra was where Aiden was born and raised. He’d never been to Hapes until he was grown and his mother was called to return for the family. Arbra was the home he loved.

Ok she would admit that her mind was on four days for once those four days passed she would be in the company of others and there she'd have to be Hapan, except of course with Aiden.

His fingers intertwined with hers a shudder of pure bliss flowed through her, he did that too her. She had never really known such a deep relationship with someone, he read her thoughts, and moods with such ease. In private all she wanted was to ensure his joy and pleasure, in public well that remained to be seen.

"Jon Burke you say, I'm know he's your friend my love I don't trust him he makes me uneasy. I wouldn't trust you to be gone with him for a long time without me. He talks you into too many things." The stories he told her all she heard was how Jon put him in danger, risked his life, and that she couldn't stand for.

Mel closed her eyes when she opened them again Aiden was on his side looking at her, more like watching her. She sighed a little. It disturbed her that Aiden felt something was off at the university for her it had been such a sanctuary and to think of it changed caused her some distress. "You know I would never keep you from the work you love and that I will always try to help where I can" She knew he wanted her to agree, wanted her to see the value of what was needed for this trip with his associates.

"Craig Jansen I've not heard that name before" The Lake Country on Naboo, at that she really smiled, "will I be able to have private time with you while on Naboo Aiden." Mel inched closer, "we are on our honeymoon after all and there are expectations my dear husband."

With four days in front of them alone she wholly expected him to fulfill her expectations she lifted her free hand and slid it along Aiden's arm, "you can spend the next four days explaining the project, exploring heavenly bodies AND being with me."

Craig cocked his head to the side at the question. A ship’s name hadn’t occurred to him. He open his datapad and thumbed through the contract. That’s why no name came to mind.

“It’s just listed by its hull registry number. It’s common for government entities not to bother to name vessels because they often have so many. Think about a good name and we can christen her at the shipyard during the refit.”

He was rarely sentimental about ships enough to worry about naming them. If she had a name she liked, he would use it.

He made the trip to galley’s storage and made a quick inventory. Returning to the bridge he offered, “We have plenty of basic provisions for the run to Naboo. I can outfit us better there with my local contracts than here. So, yes… we are ready for departure.”

He settled into a chair to the side of the captain’s command chair and watched her prepare. She was the captain… fly it.

“A ship this size has a roll/spin rate much lower than my old fighters. Plus it has much better inertial dampening. I don’t think that there’s anything you can put her through that will trigger an attack - assuming the systems aren’t damaged. That said, with the unknowns ahead of us, a good plan for medical assistance is a great idea. We’ll see what the scientists had on board and upgrade it on Naboo with the outfitting.”

He gestured towards the forward ports saying, “Make it so, captain.”

Aiden smirked at her mention of “expectations.” That was so very Hapan of her. In the female oriented society, women controlled most everything and the men performed whatever tasks were assigned to them. Including their “duties” in the bedroom. Aiden believed that he had been acquitting himself admirably in that respect, and, fortunately for him it seemed their expectations coincided nicely. Very nicely indeed.

“Craig owns a collection of ship maintenance and repair docks. He seems like a good enough guy. He apparently worked hard to build up his businesses.”

He didn’t try to convince he Jon Burke was a “nice” guy. He’d had his own doubts although Jon had always treated him well.

He took hold of the sheet and began slowly slipping it down. He couldn’t take his eyes off her as her breasts were revealed. He said, “I’ll show you the data tomorrow…” - he leaned forward and kissed her left nipple - “or the day after” - then the right. After that no more words were spoken for a long while.

"hmm bad luck a ship with no name [member="Craig Janson"] it needs a name something that fits something that makes you smile" She looked at him green eyes intent on finding a solution, all while her fingers flipped switches and prepared to leave.

She pushed the throttle slow and easy gifting them some lift a small half turn to angle them out, "Good to know we won't starve yet" She could hear the hum of the engines begin that build to power as they pulled away from the hangar they were out and staring ahead at the open space. She felt it then that moment of freedom, the skies called and bid her to come.

She pushed and off they headed toward the black of space. Not so much as a shimmy from the old girl how nice, Rekha pushed her left and then right and then for kicks she did a barrel roll laughing outloud as gravity held everything in place. "This will do Craig this will do she handles real well, a real lady." Rekha's ship was called the Midnight star after a cantina in an old holo this ship needed something else.

She would continue to think on it, "Coordinates set for Naboo, we'll jump in 4 3 2 1 " Space changed and the ship entered hyperspace. The Navcomp showed them on course.

"It will be a bit coming from Bespin to Naboo, so if you need a nap now is your chance I'd say. I"m going to sit here..enjoy the sounds, which reminds me do we have music?"

There were no words.

Standing in her husband's shirt before the little area for cooking Mel was going to try her hand at breakfast, for dinner. She thought she had everything she needed, maybe. She had see the cook do this a few times surely it can't be that hard.

Aiden was still sleeping soundly he..well..was tired. They couldn't very well stay in, well they could but they needed food in order to perform. Yes.. so with a few pots and a bowl full of eggs and something called bantha bacon, and some juice, and toast..

How does one cook bantha bacon, the directions were simple put in pan on heat cook till done, what exactly was done? Brown? Black? And the eggs, she knew to get them out of the shells you had to crack them...but then...mix together vigorously..yes...

Ok...the bacon was on and she was trying to watch it, snap sizzle and lightly smoke...was it suppose to smoke like that? Oh the other pan was hot...egg..yes eggs in there..OOOOO there's shell in it... she tried to get it out....the bacon was smoking a little more...

ut oh...

The little Baudo’s ship wide alarm began politely. It wasn’t the strident alarm that screamed ‘WE’RE GOING TO CRASH’ but the more melodious one signifying the autopilot was nearing the end of the programmed course - in this case, the final leg into the Naboo system. If necessary, the autopilot would simply slide the ship to the edge of the spacelane and come to a dead stop until it received further instructions. However, not stopping was one of the AI’s operational priorities, so, the polite alarm’s volume increased until it reached levels that would even awaken Jon Burke.

Jon groaned, rolled over and sat on the edge of his berth. “Quiet!” he said and the alarm cut off mid-ululation. He rose, walked to the refresher and splashed water on his face. For some reason, he wasn’t feeling well but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what was wrong. He turned and began his wakeup micturition… and the source of his malaise reared its ugly head.

He was absolutely positive his bladder and urinary tract were filled with molten lava. He howled in pain - a sound so shocking the AI flashed the shields to full, did a complete scan of the surrounding space, and finally convinced the ship wasn’t in peril returned settings to normal.

Jon sat back on the sink catching his breath and mopping away the sweat that had popped out on his forehead. He came to the only logical conclusion and for the next ten minutes cursed Katie Lofton in a colorful variety of languages. If she weren’t half a galaxy away by now, he would hunt her down and use some of the dark, sithy things he’d learned over the years on her.

Thinking of those things made Jon take a deep breath and calm himself. He wasn’t sure he’d ever been truly sith, but, he knew he was no longer. Unfortunately, his training had been with the sith and those habits died hard. After this venture, he planned to spend time with his uncle, Dallas Taylor, who promised to teach Jon light side skills. Still, a little torture seemed appropriate.

Sighing, he walked gingerly to the bridge. He pulled the med kit and found nothing that sounded helpful according the the labeling except for a mild analgesic. He swallowed two of the tablets dry and proceeded to his command chair. Naboo was in sight.

Landing on one of the pads at Craig’s lakeside house, Jon found that he was the first to arrive. That was good. He had some things to get done.

Craig turned and listened to the ship during the barrel roll. He didn’t hear anything rattling around in the back, but, the inertial dampeners, although solid, felt somewhat unbalanced. Still, he was pleased with the find. It was a good ship that would be even better when his crew was done with it.

“We’re going to upgrade the engines, shields, just about everything you can think of. The cabins will be redone, too. They will be gutted and rebuilt as luxury units. Some of the members of the team don’t want to spend an extended amount of time on what amounts to a university dorm bunk.”

He rose and stretched. “I’m going to do another walk through and take that nap you suggested. From what I gather, the previous owners put everything on the main computer. That’s probably where you’ll find any music files they had.”

He glanced into her cabin as he walked past her hatch. His eyebrow rose quizzically when he saw the stuffed animal. Barrel rolls and stuffed ewoks… this green eyed lady was a mystery to him.

Music was already on board, she grinned ok she thought let's see what the last folks liked. She main computer, then a short search for music....ooooo ahhhhh, yuck...she saw Craig disappear hopefully he was asleep.

She saw something that she might like, something that...well would ease up some of the anxiety. She pushed a button switched some of the music to the corridor she stood there waiting waiting then the familiar strum suddenly she was ready to sway and smile, her mind filled with the images..as the song played. She couldn't help but feel it in every part of her body, every nerve every impulse. She began to bounce with the music at times dancing with her hands in the air like she just did not care.

She was in her element, this reminded her of the Lucky Lady, of sleepy days, long nights when everyone who came through the door was someone she knew. And life offered her something that only a kindred spirit could know, could feel with her.

How she missed those days. Before the Sith took everything from her on Coruscant and made her a beggar the only thing she got out with a few clothes, her ewok, and her pajamas. Thank god for HK and Siobahn who gave her a chance and for that cranky old codger.

Maybe this was life coming to beckon her again, maybe this was another chance.

If it was.........she was ready
