Afraid of the Dark

Looking at Claire I said "Time reveals much cya'rika" She'd arched into me as I bit her neck softly.

The scans of journals, holo-records, and other assorted information was being uploaded to my gauntlet and the Prudii'kad for study later. I felt something....that was.....old somehow and connected to me.

"Yeah I think we got everything we need Claire, time to head back I think odds are the Black Lotus guards are on their way to collect us now." No sooner than I'd started walking did it happen. A hidden chamber in the room holding the flame opened with a shiink sound and I felt colt steel pierce through my chest pinning me.

Bracing one hand against the ground I fell on the blade. Suddenly I felt incredible heat burst through the blade almost as if blooming. Urfael is my name a blade of fiery gleaming brilliance. The runes along the blade glowed...a soft gleaming with the red of sunset. I was gasping for breath and I knew now the Black Lotus would be here even faster. Reaching around I grasped the hilt of the blade and pulled it inch by inch from my chest until the blade fell against the polished stone with a clang. The blade like polished starlight.....and I wasn't bleeding? The blade had no blood on it whatsoever...

Coming to a knee I rose and looked towards Claire as I sheathed the new blade.... "I think it's time we leave here love."

I don't know that I was ready to leave there was so much more to see if only we had more light. I looked at Andorreth instinctively I reached over for him, "are you ok?" something encircled him ripples of light coalescing as if alive but I had no idea really what it meant.

If he was hurt than yes it was time to leave, I waited though watching his body language then I saw it a blade, "OH My god..." I wasn't helpless but I watched him pull it from his body and drop it. I reached over to stop any bleeding and yet there was nothing. I looked up at him, "Andorreth?"

So many changes in such a short time...was he dying before my eyes...would I lose him before we even really started? I put my hand to his chest fear and concern written all over my face. Was this was she had spoken of all of this? Was it worth it?At this moment I just didn't know.

I was a bit shaken by a sword going through my chest. "Force imbued blade...they do have interesting effects...." I laid there and let Claire hold me. Wrapping my hands around her I softly said "Shhhh I'm alright Claire.... just let's hold up for a sec. Probes are scanning everything anyways..."

Wait the worst words when someone you love is laying in your arms having been run through by a blade, force or no force it wasn't the easiest thing to watch. Yet I found myself doing just that.

"We got time." there was all kinds of time really. Was this all that was supposed to happen I had been so excited about it all a new journey, discoveries, time with Andorreth and now this.

"Do you feel alright?" I sat as still as I knew how giving him the time, but asking what questions I could.

Looking towards Claire I said "Well I certainly wasn't expecting to be run through by a force imbued blade. Let alone one that chose me as its wielder....explains why there wasn't any blood." Unsheathing the blade I saw the runes glowing faintly. "Force imbued swords were said to be some of the strongest blades ever and they were attuned to but one person. Though there were enchantments which could be laid upon the blade which would allow the blade to be handed down or claimed by someone of the same bloodline as the original wielder. I can only assume that one of my ancestors was this blades' original owner which explains why it didn't draw blood. It recognized me..." Looking towards Claire I resheathed the blade and waited for any questions or until she was ready to move on.

I didn't quite understand what he meant until he went on and explained it had to be that bewildered look on my face that prompted him to explain. "Thats amazing" I had never thought about how the force could work or how it could affect generations.

"So it didn't draw blood but it definitely did something to do you. What is that all about if it's attuned to your bloodline shouldn't it have stopped before injuring you?" The force was also confusing as feth for me right now. I had watched others use it, teach it, and talk about it BUT never had I been so close to it that it touched me. I was in the middle of it now.

I realized it probably didn't make sense to Claire. "There are things that yes wouldn't react as violently. It's a test of sorts I suppose...It didn't harm me because of my bloodline. It also had no way to tell I carried that blood. Force imbued objects can't sense The Force. They're simple objects imbued via will and energy of both wielder and The Force. As it is it was in a trapdoor container... had I not stepped where I did it would likely never have triggered." I could see the possibilities going through her mind now. The Force was full of those...

This was certainly a much larger universe than she had lived in so many details to remember so many possibilities for everything. I just smiled, "I guess I have a lot to learn."

I knew I did afterall Jedi weren't made over night they kinda grew over time if I remembered things correctly. I sighed a little bit, "how are you feeling?" I looked him over trying to make sure, or see, or tell from some little flinch or blink but he hid things so well.

Not all things but some. Would I become that way too?

This sensitivity most certainly had it's ups and downs didn't it.

Smiling at Claire's reaction I said "I'm still learning as well my love. I'll be happy to teach you what I know Claire..." She asked how I was feeling and I felt good enough to walk. The feeling of peace was amazing, I had the woman I loved by my side, a new weapon, and soon Claire and I would be back at house Vikar. I heard steps though, metallic steps..... Turning to look I saw The Black Lotus Guards approaching. One bowed and took a knee saying "M'lord we've come to retrieve you and your companion. Medical aid is ready and waiting aboard the prudii'kad." Turning to look at Claire it said "M'lady it will be our pleasure to carry you and Prince Vikar back to the ship. On your orders m'lady we will. Medical scans recorded showed both your and Prince Vikar's vitals plummeting. We await your or Prince Vikar's command m'lady."

Looking at the droid I said "Thank you Captain, if you don't mind we'll take you up on that offer I think." The droid bowed and simply scooped Claire off her feet and me right beside her. Reaching out towards her hand I grabbed hers in mine and simply clasped her hand as the droids carried us back to out escape route.

OH~ I didn't think I would ever get use to to being swept off my feet if not by Andorreth and now by droids. Not that I couldn't walk but after the day and night we've had I could handle it.

I looked over in time to see Andorreth reaching for my hand, instantly I reached for his as well smiling as I felt his familiar grip. I sighed with great contentment. This life I was stepping into had a familiar feel, and it also held a lot of mystery.

I had a teacher in Andorreth, and a spirititual advisor who I imagined floating nearby feeling a great sense of accomplishment. Then there was the quiet of the hall, and cool of the waters. I knew that I would be back here there was more to find, more to learn....I could feel that gentle throbbing all around me like an itch I couldn't reach but knew was there.

We would be at his estate soon...his estate....my protector ..for a moment I felt drowsy again. I smiled at him just as we broke the surface. The bitter cold greeted us.
