The closest thing he would have to true happiness. Katrine smiled. He had made her a promise back on Ryloth, months ago. He had promised to stay. Mother had never needed to make that sort of promise because she had always been there but now, everything had changed, everything was different. Where she went, she found Father. Mother was not at her side. It wasn't her Mother though, not really. Katrine didn't want to admit it but when she tried to reach for her, when had attempted to hug her, Katrine drew back to the unfamiliar woman. The human was not the Lupine, there was no denying that to the wolf. No matter how much she had tried. She never admitted that out loud though, not to anyone. The wolf inside longed for the wolf that gave birth to her, the wolf that raised her, the wolf that taught her. It wasn't the same, never the same. Even the stupid ring on her hand which she had been given, how many times had she pressed it in her panic, trying to get this Mother to come back, secretly hoping it would be her own. It didn't work that way though. Her Mother had given her the ring and it most likely didn't even work anymore. It didn't work for her.

Katrine glanced at Damien first, a small smile on her face. "Damien found me, Father," she told him even though, part of her knew she would know. Father knew these things, no matter what time he was in, he just knew. Maybe it was her imagination rather than anything else, especially now that she had learned Father had been wrong all along about their species... or had he not told her but knew? No, that seemed unlikely. "He's all that seems to remain from Uncle Vega," she continued after a moment. Katrine had always been curious about the Uncle she heard but never met, even if she didn't wish to meet him, knowing what he had done to their bloodline. Still, there were so few Lupines in the galaxy, she wanted to know her cousin. What his grandfather had done didn't affect how she felt about her cousin.

Father had taken an interest in her twin instead, calling him to him. His son, his firstborn male heir. Did it matter if he was male or female anymore? Maybe she was a little bit jealous. She was older between the two and despite the old Lupine tradition favoring the men and Dathomirian tradition favoring the women, their family was a mix of both. She remained quiet though.

A chill ran through her at the moment the throne room doors opened. She had been expecting Pebble, instead, when she turned, she found a woman with light brown hair stepping forward. Lupine, without a doubt. However, she felt the same blank presence in the Force that she felt around Katria. It was odd, to say at least. In complete silence, she'd watched the woman approach the throne and bow before her Father, sparking Katrine's curiosity until she felt Pebble's presence in the room too, standing by the doors. Her hand waved, calling her over. "Father!" Katrine cheerfully called. "This is P... Scherezade deWinter. My sister. She may not be wolf nor Dathomirian but she's been put in my care." Hawks took calling someone as family seriously, so seriously that they installed that same importance into her head and heart. Jart had called Pebble her Ward when she had first been freed from her pebble but it was their relationship that made her love the girl as her sister.
