Ahead of the Wheel

"Thank you." The blonde smiled, accepting the card before placing it atop a small tray off to the side of her desk, for the time being. Without a doubt the man's services would likely be required again in the future. He had proven incredibly reliable, at least in terms of bounty hunters reliability was concerned. Certainly if there was a need for one again in the future, he would be at the top of the woman's list. "Someone may come looking" That was almost a certainty. "Though they'll find reaching him to be nothing short of difficult." A warm smile passed over her features. "He'll be serving his time within stasis in our maximum security prison."

Deep underwater, beneath the oceans of the planet sat the maximum security prison. Built for only the harshest of criminals, each isolated chamber was separated from the central security wing. Those chambers were linked individually away from the central tower, each one pressurized to withstand the forces of the depths the prison sat at. A single hatch beneath the floor was controlled by a release valve that, if activated, would destabilize the pressure in the chamber, immediately flooding, as well as apply crushing weight against any occupant within. For this reason no guards were ever required to visit individual prisoners.

"If he escapes, I suspect word of it will spread faster than I am capable of communicating it." She scrunched her nose. "I also suspect he will start his path with me. So let us hope it does not come to that."

Maximum security? Stasis? Maybe the Naboo didn't have soft hearts after all. Not as soft, anyway. They were keeping him alive, after all. Maleagant could understand the sentiments behind the pursuit of justice and the insistence of a fair trial. That wasn't to say he necessarily respected them, of course. Still, as long as Nashar wasn't going to be sprung out from a rehabilitation clinic staffed by some hippie AgriCorps washouts a week from today, Maleagant could rest more easily. This was a Galactic Alliance world, after all, and he had heard the rumors about their apocalyptic magma prisons. It reminded him to keep his stay here somewhat... Short.

He nodded along. "Good to know."

The corners of the Acolyte's mouth twitched as the resisted a frown. That she would suspect word would get out faster than she could alert him would be mistaken. His networks did not extend this far out, only a few strands straying towards the Core Worlds and sectors of the Outer Rim West of Naboo. Mostly Hutt and Sith Space. Sorting exaggerated rumors and hearsay from the truth was a difficulty as it was. If there was no need for a direct line, he wouldn't be handing out business cards. "I respectfully disagree," he said, then quickly added: "But it is as you wish."

If he did start with Pyne, unfortunate as that would be for her, it would at least give Maleagant some time to prepare. In theory. How was he to know how deep Nashar's grudge with this woman ran? Did he hate him more now that he had facilitated her capture of him? Who would he strike first, given the opportunity? Yet this was if he escaped at all, anyway, which Maleagant hoped was as unlikely as the word "stasis" implied it would be. He shouldn't give more credence to the possibility than it deserved.

Still.

The Acolyte rose gingerly from his seat. "I should take my leave now, if you'll permit me."

The blonde nodded, standing in tandem with Maleagant. Her hand extended once more and a warm smile graced her face.

"Very well." She said, "If some unfortunate act of the Force should free him, I will see to it you are alerted."

Circling around the other side of the desk she made for the door, opening it politely for the man to see him out.

"I appreciate beyond words what you've done for the people of Naboo, myself included. I've asked that your ship be refueled as well, for your trouble of delivering the man."

The guard escort that had brought him to her would once again see to delivering the acolyte to the landing pad where his ship awaited.

"Thank you for your services." She said with a nod.

He almost smiled weakly, shaking her hand with due reverence once again, clearly unused to this kind of pleasantry being afforded to him. His last few meetings with government officials in the Pentastar Alignment had not gone over well for them, largely because it was to reveal the substantial amount of blackmail the Helix Syndicate had amassed. The fact that there was no kicking, screaming, gnashing of teeth, whimpering, weeping, or nervous begging this time around was a change of pace that would have been refreshing if Lady Pyne had not then opened the door for him. He looked confounded. Like some sort of profound social law had just been violated.

This was not treatment he had been taught to expect from nobility, or had received from nobility, in the past. Things must have been different here on Naboo. Either that or she was actually just a peasant who had married into her current status. Maleagant was not willing to rule out either option just yet. Despite his disquietude, Maleagant managed the proper thanks.

"You are most generous, your grace. Thank you." He bowed a bit stiffly, skin burning in protest, before quickly shuffling out along with the guard.

With any luck, it would be quite some time before Maleagant had to return to Naboo. But no one who ever crossed Nashar could consider themselves lucky for very long afterwards, could they?
