Classification: Upscale residence
Location: Theed, overlooking the river, a short commute from Theed Hangar (just across Crystal Falls, near the Naboo Center of Cultural Arts, Sciences, and History)
Affiliation: Lady Ajira Cardei
Description: Lady Cardei's home in Theed is a seven-story miniature estate, suitable for a prominent scion of a noble house.
The majority of the house's perimeter includes no ingress/egress routes; sheer stone walls ascend for four stories. The small northeast wing is lower, including a boathouse on the river and a single secured entrance to the street. The northeast wing is only sheer stone for one and a half stories. The house is outfitted with closed-circuit holocams, perimeter sensors, lifesign detectors, and other standard high-end security features. A southeastern landing pad and internal parking space, both on the sixth floor, offer space for a handful of speeders or even small shuttlecraft. This small facility includes limited refuelling capability and mechanic droids.
The house is decorated in the Theed style, which is to say, art deco and chrome, though less ostentatious than the palace.
Lady Cardei's personal suite is on the third floor, two levels below the landing pad and level with the top of the northeast wing. Her balcony is the top of a small turret on the west side of the building. Throughout the building, and especially within the suite, various works of cumbersome, fixed art are actually Force Dispersers attuned to Ajira and her aide [member="Lady Shambleau"]. These help them to conceal their Force abilities and Dark Side orientation from Jedi and Sith visitors, and also to disguise any incidental Force manifestations that would otherwise attract attention.
In all other respects, however, the building is not what you would expect from a closeted Force-sensitive's base of operations. There are no secret passageways, no hidden holocron vaults, no subbasement training rooms, and no shrines behind false walls. Likewise, there is no convenient Dark Side nexus, either preexisting or created after the fact. That would be silly.
History: Lady Ajira Cardei inherited this house and renovated it to her specifications during the early years of her career with Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps (Theed Hangar).
Recently, Lady Cardei experienced some private disturbance or spiritual awakening. She retreated to her family's estate in the Lake Country, and to this house in Theed, for a few months. When she emerged, she seemed somewhat changed -- memory lapses, a more serious and cynical personality. She renovated the house for greater security, including closed-circuit holocams, perimeter sensors, and lifesign detectors, comparable to your average moderate-security corporate facility. She also upgraded the encryption protocols on the long-range communications suite, and added small emergency power generators. Many of these upgrades, admittedly, were overdue; Ajira was not only a noblewoman but occupied a position of trust in the palace itself. The Royal Security Force signed off on the upgrades once completed.
Safe, well-appointed, and convenient, Ajira's home often houses offworld visitors, including prominent businesspersons.
Intent: A home and base of surreptitious operations for Ajira.
