Akiva Practice

Akiva is the Jungle planet and home of Norra and Temmin Wexley, and a primary setting in Aftermath.

Mike landed his Scimitar to get some lightsaber practice from [member="Salis"] , a friend and ally. He went out of his ship and started to wait on Mike's friend.

"I wonder what is taken her long?" thought Mike. "I hope that she is ok and Orex has not killed her yet."

Salis arrived quietly in her fighter, taking her time getting down. She had brought some additional weapons with her, a way to practice and further hone the skills of [member="Mike V'Trechen"], and herself if possible. A few practice blasters, various practice sabers, and a large metal ball.

As she landed she leapt out of the ship dropping down with ease. She normally wore armor but now simply wore the robes, with a light veil over her mouth instead of the usual mask she had. Her hood was back and in her hands were a few of the things she had brought with her. Wouldn't want to accidentally chop him to pieces on the first go.

Mike saw [member="Salis"] ' ship. He was happy to be with one of his best friends in the world. He walked up to Salis. He knew that it might be hard, but practice and teaching is always hard.

"What happened to you?" asked Mike. "Are you going to a funeral or something? I did not know that this was going to be a emotional period than a training!"

She cocked her head at the question of going to a funeral, probably the veil over her mouth she imagined. "I was getting practice weapons." she said floating them off to the side on the ground before gesturing to her mouth, "And this is because." she removed the veil, revealing how her mouth had already begun to visibly scar from how much she had dipped herself into the dark side of the force, "Those are going to grow a whole lot more in the next few months. Or weeks, we'll see." she answered.

She really didn't care all that much, it was unfortunate, but it was worth the power she gained from it was plenty worth it.

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

Mike looked at the scar. He was scared of getting one himself. He did not let him be bothered by it. He was ready to do some practice. He removed his hood and ignited his lightsaber.

"Are you ready?" asked Mike. "What do you want to start off first?"

She shook her head gesturing to the side, "Nah nah, if we practice with those I'll have to be too careful." she said pulling a practice saber to each of her hands and holding one out to him, "Use one of these, it'll be painful if you get hit. Plenty. But at least I won't be removing a limb and can let you hit me if necessary." she explained.

She tossed the main robe to the said so she was just in the basic garb, tightening her belt and tossing most of her weapons to the side, "I'm gonna want you to get into a proper stance, what's your preferred fighting style?"

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

Mike was a little happier that he is not going to lose a limb today. He extinguished his lightsaber and grabbed the practice one that [member="Salis"] handed to Mike. When she asked about fighting styles, he got lost as no one has properly trained him with lightsabers. He knew how to pilot ships, shoot guns, and a little bit of the force, but no one has bothered to teach Mike lightsaber stuff.

" [member="Salis"] ," said Mike. "I honestly do not know. No one has ever train me or even taken initative on lightsaber training. I did not even know that there were many styles."

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]
She paused with some surprise at the lack of knowledge, that was very unfortunate. It did explain why he was an acolyte though. She nodded thoughtfully, "Hm, alright, let's see what I can teach you. You've seen me fight now right? Recently, not too many times, but you've seen it. Fast, agile, aggressive, evasive, but not focused on pure power or defense. That's what I do most, it's referred to as Ataru or the fourth form. If I had to guess, it probably wouldn't work well for you. Tire you out far too quickly."

Salis walked over to him, going to set his hands and arms in a stance for form I, "That's Shii-Cho, form one, it's simple and old. And some can master it fully, but it's a good starting point otherwise. There are around seven, I'll explain them as we go. For now, feel the blade, I want you to mimic my movements. They're gonna be the basis of Shii-Cho ok. It may feel clumsy or too simple but it's quite acceptable."

She stepped in front so he could mirror her, going through stances, and then simple attacks or defenses. Not many, just a few, watching to see if he was catching onto them by memory or not.

Salis nodded as he did so, "Good good, incoming overhead" her second words came very quickly and her practice sword spun overhead in a light strike towards his shoulder, hopefully if he remembered one of the motions he'd block it, or at least react to it. She needed to gauge now what he really had learned so far. He was a fascinating person and while Salis was a very talkative person she really didn't call people friend. Still, she'd spent enough time with him so far she'd called him that a few times.

Mike saw the practice lightsaber going at him. He dropped down to the ground and tried to hit [member="Salis"] ' knees. He then crawled to a tree and climbed up. Mike had a idea to beat her if he had to.

Salis leapt back as he ducked and attacked, then raised an eyebrow as he ran up a tree. "You can't do tricks every time Mike." she said simply, she was a schemer herself and of all the things she could do, killing was the easiest. She'd gotten away with it long before she was a Sith.

But now, things were easier. She reached out her left hand and squeezed, attempting to wrench the limbs off the tree and toss them aside whether he was hanging onto them or not, "I've been fighting about all my life because I enjoy it and I'm good at it. And sometimes, you're forced to fight without any tricks. And it comes down to pure physical talent and resolve." Whatever the result of the pull on the tree, she'd reach out with the force to grab Mike and try and yank him towards her, practice blade ready.

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

Mike felt the force yanking him. It was just like he planned. He jumped off the tree and flew on top of [member="Salis"] . He was using his practice lightsaber and tried to wack Salis on the head.

"I was not hiding," said Mike. "As a asassin, I use my surroundings and figure out how to use them to my advantage. Less shadows or cover I have, more they will attack me and less I can use to attack them. More cover, less they will attack me and more I can attack them. I want to have the advantages in the battlefield."

As he flew towards her her and came for an attack she moved instantly, she had prepared for this exactly, moving her hand from a pull to a push to counteract it and try and slow him down, while straight up stabbing towards him with her weapon, a slice or wack would be too short as it had more power behind it, but a stab had more length and less of an area, Ducking down and to the left to avoid the head wack.

"Acceptable strategy, if I didn't expect it." she said calmly, "I've already seen you plan. And more importantly, that move is actually one I'd pull myself, I learn adaptability and malleability. There is no saber style more focused on the battlefield then Ataru is, Mike. Don't expect to surprise me in a fight. You're good at scheming, but so am I."

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

Mike went over to [member="Salis"] . He figured that he might have over done the training. He stopped and went back to [member="Salis"] . He decided to be nice and listen to [member="Salis"] .

"I am sorry!" said Mike. "I guess that I kind of over did things."

Salis shook her head in thought, "A bit. Using the environment is great, but it's a combat strategy. It's not combat skill. There will be people no strategy can overcome, or that requires the skill to preform." she explained, "Let's try that again, don't run. It doesn't work. Just fight me straight on, use the stances, use the moves, keep it simple. I'll keep myself a little slower so you can get into the groove of it before actually trying things."

She said getting into the position for Soresu, it wasn't her preferred style, but it was one she was skilled at enough to use here and teach him properly. She could use the others, and knew their techniques, but didn't preform as well with them.

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

Mike stood in front of [member="Salis"] . He had his practice lightsaber up right in front of him. He was ready for whatever Salis throws at him. He closed his eyes trying to feel the force flow threw him and opened his eyes.

"Give me what you got," said Mike. "I am ready. I do not know if I will do well, but I have the force on my side."

She looked at him for a moment and nodded, after he finished speaking. She went first for a forwards thrust, which would be followed by a stroke to the side, and another right after. Each movement was certainly far slower then she was capable of, but they were still smooth in movement, and due to the swords design to cause pain on contact, it would certainly be best for him to react. Still she wanted him to keep in rhythm. To mimic her own speed for now, slow and steady, easy to pay attention to the motions she was trying to teach him so they'd come more instinctively later.

[member="Mike V'Trechen"]

She nodded as he followed properly, "Good, ok, faster." she said picking up speed in her actions, each one slightly faster then the last so he'd have to constantly adjust to faster and faster speeds but keep the positions and moves properly
