Miscellaneous

  • Tractor Beams

  • Other standard ship things not explicitly mentioned.

Strengths:

  • Density projectors embedded in the hull greatly enhance the defensive capabilities of the armor when activated.

  • The Mon Cala inspired design has excellent coverage at nearly all angles with evenly space emplacements, as it’s meant to dive into the thick of enemy formations. Unlike with typical dagger designs, the Akula are good at broadside attacks.

  • HIMS enabled hyperdrive.

  • Highly automated, allowing the Akula to be operated with minimal crew.
Weaknesses:

  • When the density projectors are activated, speed and maneuverability are greatly reduced as mass has been artificially increased.

  • The even spacing of its capital emplacements and point defenses make it impossible to focus all its firepower into a single target or angle.

  • No starfighter complement.

  • Automation makes the Akula relatively easy to seize control with only a small number of boarders.

  • The density projectors must be deactivated for at least a full minute before the hyperdrive can be used.
Description:

The Akula ("Shark") are a class of heavy Star Destroyers designed by Kiribian Systems Armory for anti-ship combat and orbital bombardment. The Akula has its origins with the New Ship Modernization program launched by the Galactic Alliance in an effort to overhaul its aging fleet of warships largely carried over from the Omega Protectorate and the Galactic Republic.

The Destroyers would still be in the development phase during the war between First Order and Galactic Alliance, but that gave KSA ample opportunity to incorporate modifications to address the current and predicted future capabilities of the First Order Navy based on incoming intelligence from the conflict.

Mockups for the Akula originally called for balanced carrier destroyers meant to engage enemy capital ships at long range, much like many GA warships, but were later reworked into heavy destroyers better suited to also comfortably fight at close range and disrupt enemy formations, making isolated vessels easy pickings for artillery ships and attack craft. As with the Okami, the Akula excels at quickly neutralizing support vessels and small escorts with weapon configurations specifically designed to run down shields and disable craft.

Hangar space was sacrificed for more weapon banks and stronger defenses. The most notable addition being the use of density projectors embedded within the hull plating. When activated, the density of the hull is greatly increased, allowing it to better withstand attacks. This feature was deemed especially important as the First Order was making regular use of kinetic weaponry in its newer ship lines, and as ramming was becoming a more common practice.

As with all KSA designs, the Akula is heavily automated to enable quick adjustments by commanders. This automation especially benefits cyborgs, technopaths, and synthetics able to directly interface with machines, greatly reducing the kill chain from orders to action.

After the first batches of the Akula began to roll out of the shipyards, the Silver Jedi Order would also acquire production rights from KSA to produce their own, wishing to round out their fleet with heavy hitters that could defeat Sith and malicious Imperial warships noted for having tough layered shielding.

Production: Minor-Production
Here is our example charts, in which I'd like you to look at our Elite Star Destroyer example, which should be noted for its limited production:
f2I7LTD.png

As compared to the Elite Destroyer example, you've set your defenses to High rather than very high, but also set your speed and maneuverability to average while reducing your hangar to 0. Essentially, your ship matches what is our example criteria for what a limited production star destroyer can pass for. The weakness of losing mobility while the density projectors is noted, but the density projectors themselves are a strength and it makes up for its drawbacks.

Please reduce production to limited in order to move on to secondary review, otherwise please reduce other features on the ship.

Very tentative about these density projectors. Make it so that they must be deactivated for a full minute before making the jump to hyperspace to allow the spacetime distortions to settle down as I'll consider it balanced enough.
