Alchemy workshop?

A couple years back, I did this huge workshop where we went through the ship template point by point and demystified the old starship standards. It got a bunch of traction (something like 75 posts, I think) and really went well. Lately I've been pondering something similar for alchemy and various other kinds of Force crafting. This would absolutely be after the Event and the current rounds of Rebellions -- ain't nobody got time for that -- but we're not talking long-term either. I'd be delving into my personal process for making alchemical whatnots. We might even get [member="Valik"] to guest lecture.

Potential topics include:
  • Research resources and practices - how to find and recognize the good stuff
  • Extrapolating and interpolating - how to turn obscure precedents into internally consistent and creative things
  • Scale - relative to canon and, to a lesser extent, Chaos
  • Escalation - how to start small without tossing out vanilla nonsense
  • Cliches and overdone stuff - how to avoid being known for shield charm/flaming sword #2327245
  • Different crafting arts - the Dark Side has a large and fleshed-out canon to draw from, but the Light Side also has a ton of diverse, obscure, canon crafting traditions
  • Force orientation - Dark, Light, neutral, and why it matters
  • Expectations - what a master alchemist's portfolio actually looks like (both qualitatively and quantitatively), and why to take most 'master alchemists' with a large grain of salt on your own road to gitting gud
  • Production level - why small is key and big is complicated
  • Personal flair and uniqueness - how to find your own style and voice; how to avoid imitating others' creations
  • Degrees of specialization - a rounded skillset versus an alchemy specialist; the tradeoffs that get made in canon
  • How to balance a sub, with reference to both canon and the Factory
By the end of it, ideally, you'd have a complete factory sub that's a cut above in terms of quality, even if you're signing up as an Apprentice. This wouldn't be a fast thread by any means. Heck, if the last one is any indication it could take a couple months, with Q&A stuff and adjusting for new members. It might even be possible to start participating as an Apprentice and wind up with Master by the end.

Anyone interested in something along these lines, for after the Event?

This does sound like an amazing idea!
Especially since i have been tinkering with the idea of making an alchemist. I have put it off because i don't know too much about the alchemy side of things.
Sounds like it could help a lot of people.

I would be eternally grateful. One of my alts is getting into this and I WANT him to be good at it. I want it to be his story line and quest, however I am terrified of not doing it right. Please do. Sign me up.

Still not 100% sure how I'm going to approach this; I'm thinking a sort of IC/OOC blend at the moment. If I need a hand I'll talk with you. You're more than welcome to participate.
