Ylva Heavenshield

"I grew up on a world called Nirauan..." Ylva replied to [member="Drystan Marakos"], watching as she stepped around the fallen branch and then curiously pushing it aside with her boot; The Red-head having to assume this was done so that others might not step on it, or otherwise trip and fall. It was a subtle yet considerate gesture if that were to be the case. "Though my Parents are of Valkyri blood and once called this world home before my time" she added shortly there-after, almost as if it was a point that she had to be connected to Midvinter in name and reputation. The words that she didn't say, forever keeping the tragedies of her past from gnawing at her pride.

"They aren't so much a group like your people but a Race...-Alongside the Aelvar, the Valkyri are the descendants of Midvinter..." She reached out with her free hand to gesture towards the Lady [member="Coci Heavenshield"] as well as her Husband, Thurion as they passed; "The Heavenshields are related to the High-King and Lord of Midvinter, [member="Thyrian Hearthfire"] whom lives to the west of the Tháinbroek" she spoke with a sense of admiration towards the Valkyri, for all the things she had come to learn and bare witness too, since her return.

"The DawnGuard are a group though...-And I'm guessing Lady Coci has shaped them around the Jedi, for how she admires your people so" Ylva smiled a little, albeit uncertainly for she did not hold all the answers; "I have not been with them for long but it was [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] who brought me here to Midvinter and helped me to discover the Force and my Kin".

With a content smile, she let Theo lead her over to [member="Audren Sykes"] and [member="Joza Perl"]. Valae couldn't help but smile at the sight of the Sephi and the Zeltron, she had fond memories of both. She waited until Theodred had made his greetings before offering any of her own. She made note of the name Ylva, spoken by Audren – her eyes tracked in the direction of the flame-haired woman from before, one she had yet to meet. Valae fixed Theo in a sidelong glance, a crafty grin on her face.

“Thank you very much, Master Sykes.” Valae said, offering a bow. “It's very good to see you, it's been quite a long time. I hope you've been well.” Though the two had not been terribly close, she was touched that he had come to welcome her to Midvinter.

She chuckled as Joza teased [member="Théodred Heavenshield"], Valae still remembered her first outing with him – he'd been a small boy then... the only time that Val had ever been taller than him, even if only just so. Now, he did stand to a towering height. As Joza pulled her into a quick hug, she gave the other woman a squeeze and a pat on the back.

“It's great to see you, finally!” She waved away the Zeltron's apology, blushing slightly at the kind words. “Tropical?” She asked, eyes growing wide. “I grew up in the desert, I've had quite enough of the sand and the heat.” Valae laughed.

“And what's this I hear about children?” She asked, eyeing Joza.

Drystan listened intently as Ylva briefly explained her history. The two of them were walking closer to one-another now, almost in step, as she shared a few moments together in companionship - it was good for both women, indeed, for Drystan was not the most social under the best of circumstances. However, she reminded herself in passing, this was no mission with an objective; nothing to be won or lost. Drystan simply enjoyed the moment, finding herself in love with the planet and its' people already.

"That is... fascinating." She said, eyebrows heightened in a sense of awe and surprise. Ylva's explanation about the Valkyri and the Dawnguard had intrigued her. "Is there anything you can tell me about either group...? What their purposes are? I'm afraid I've never met anyone like your people before, and I'm absolutely fascinated."

And it was true.

"It sounds like quite the journey, coming to this planet to learn of The Force..." Drystan trailed off for a moment as they trudged through the snow, passing an old tree long-fallen and slowly decaying, returning to Terra Firma as all living things did. "How did you learn of your... gift?" She asked with a sideways glance at her new-found friend, offering a sly grin which just barely turned the corners of her lip toward the sky.

How did she come to learn of her gift? That was a strange story to tell, in truth. One with many a circumstance you would think ridiculous if not for share coincidence in the frequency of hers and Théodred's consistent meeting.

"It was shown to me by another" Ylva smiled, glancing to the snow-laiden floor they walked in stride, a hint of warmth to her cheeks as she thought of him; "[member="Théodred Heavenshield"], I first met on Nirauan and then again on a world that belonged to the Iron Empire. He was the Commander of the Iron Legion and there was a dispute between them and the Chiss...-My...-Ride" she called it, though she had really been a stowaway, "Crashed in the sector and he pulled me from the wreckage".

The way she heard herself speak about it, it near sounded romantic and forced a glance sideways back to [member="Drystan Marakos"], noting that peculiar little smirk of hers and frowning to herself as embarrassment began to set in. "Over the next season or so, I suppose he caught on...-But I never believed in such things until I saw the way he fought" Now she smirked, thinking back to the battles they had shared, some few during their time with the Iron Empire and certainly more to come there on Midvinter but to say his fighting had impressed her was not to do him credit. "...-Don't get me wrong, I'm good with an Axe but...-Well, I'm sure you know better than I, being a Jedi...".

Ylva didn't notice she'd failed to elaborate about the Dawnguard nor the Valkyri, seemingly encouraged to talk at the thought of her Man. Truth be told, she didn't often speak to other women outside of Coci herself. Ylva's social circle consisted of she and Théodred both, the rest she left to the wilds and her great and closest companion, Bjomolf.

The blonde Jedi listened as Ylva explained, finding her story of a crash-landing and being rescued fascinating. She'd had a similar experience once before - except the man who'd rescued her had been doomed from the start; Drystan's target, and destined for a prison ship. She noted Ylva's emotional pitch and felt the woman's embarassment rise, questioning for a moment if she'd had something to do with it. Ylva's further humble explanation of her abilities in battle, as well as the feeling of affection she shared for who was obviously her lover, made the Jedi smile.

"He seems like quite the catch... I would see these men of Midvinter in battle." Intrigued by these people, Drystan found herself almost feeling at home - though she'd never visited before. Drystan bumped slightly into Ylva, a playful nudge, seeking to break any tension which might have arisen. The Jedi Sentinel grinned at her. "It is not the mind or body which fights, but The Spirit. And your spirit is strong... Jedi or no."

"I daresay the women of Midvinter, without help from their men or The Force, would give even the fiercest of us pause in battle. Isn't that right, Battlemaster?"

Drystan turned, casting an amused look at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] as he walked close-by with his son.

They were now quite close. The smell of woodsmoke was stronger now, and Drystan's mouth had begun to water. She stayed beside her newfound companion, [member="Ylva Solveig"], looking forward to the promised meal and doubtless heavy drinking - something so few Jedi indulged in. Perhaps, once everyone was joyful and free, she would ask to attempt a shot with a bow - tests of skill; a friendly competition.

"Hmm?"

Josh hadn't been paying attention all that much when he would find himself suddenly being interrogated by [member="Drystan Marakos"] while watching the proceedings. He'd been busy with keeping Jason from fussing so much about the change in temperature. This was the first time he'd been taken to a cold planet like this. Kashyyyk and Naboo tended to range from warm to hot, with minor chill at worst. This was flat out a snow planet and Jason was both irritated by the unfamiliar temperature and the unfamiliar large, bulky clothes that he was in.

He looked toward the source of the voice, who's mouth was watering all of a sudden. She had been talking about Midvinter women and battle, right? Something like that? Her mouth watering made Josh assume that maybe she wasn't after all. Not that he would judge. If she lusted for the women of Midvinter, that was her personal preference.

"Yes, they appear to be fairly battle capable" He spoke as he would look toward where the other Master was looking toward, examining them for a moment.
