- Troop Transport: The AT-RT can carry up to a total of forty Legionnaires in its body, as well as up to five speeder bikes. Coupled with the walker's size and powerful laser cannons, it serves as an anchor that other Legion assets are grounded around.
- Soft Underbelly: While most of the walker is heavily armored, the only exception lies at the walker's underbelly where the disembarkation of troops generally occurs. Because of the existence of thinner personnel hatches, the walker could suffer serious damage if that area was attacked with anti-vehicle ordnance.
As the Ssi-Ruu struck from the darkness, overran Dosuun, and sent the entirety of the First Order into a death spiral that it could not self-correct, there were many military personnel and officers who found themselves beset on all sides by a foreign reptilian enemy. Many would reorganize themselves into isolated warlord states to stand firm against the tide, but many more would flee to other nations in a tide of refugees from the now galactic crisis.
Some of those exiles would find themselves in the arms of the Sith Empire, bringing with them First Order schematics and assets. These would be appropriated by the Empire and used to build new state-of-the-art ships and vehicles to serve the Empire in future conflicts.
One of these newly designed machines of war was the All-Terrain Rampart Transport, a true successor to the All-Terrain Planetary Assault Transport which had fallen out of service with the advent of larger and more heavily armed walkers. Moving on four powerful legs, the Rampart was meant to serve as mobile artillery with its pair of power laser cannons and carry up to forty Legionnaires into battle. Legionnaires could disembark via rappeling from the walker's underbelly or allowing the walker to come to a rest on its haunches and leave via the boarding ramp located under the walker's head.
