All We Have Is Time

The woman hugged her son back as she smiled and said, "I'm sorry for not being here for you. But now all I have in this world is time to spend with you and your sisters."

For once, she sounded like the normal former her. She was a mother figure, just like she was in the later years of her life -- if we exclude the time as an emotionless monster. And she loved the feeling of knowing she was normal, just like everybody wanted.

"The matter is too difficult to explain right now. When the whole family is together, I shall tell you more about it."

She smiled as she let go of her son.

"But for now, Vitor has promised to make a dinner," she said as she smirked at her husband.

"Of course I have..." He smiled, eyes twinkling as he looked at his wife. "Dinner will be ready soon. Vindi, tell Merikh to come over - at least assuming she isn't already hiding here in the shadow somewhere." She was quite the stealthy woman, Merikh.

Vindi himself gave Lilith another hug. "Thanks, mom... I can't wait to start catching up." Soon he would head outside, looking for Merikh in a likely futile effort. In the meantime, Vitor smiled, looking over at his wife even as he began to prepare a pot of stew.

"That time we had a short while ago - that felt amazing, Lilith. You have no idea how much I thought I'd never feel that again."

"Well, I thought I would remain dead forever as well," Lilith said. "Not that I could think while not being alive, though."

She walked around the little cottage, inspecting everything she could see. The place was so homely, so cosy. She hadn't been there for so long that -- even though she hadn't started to miss this place -- she was still rather happy to be in the house again.

And now she had time. Time to spend in the house, time to relax. Time to live with her family.

She sighed as she moved to the kitchen. She eyed Vitor as he prepared the food. She remembered the time when she was pregnant with the very first child, Lilin. The man had made her meals then. She still remembered the dishes he prepared for her. And after a while, the woman could finally enjoy that once again.

It was a simple thing, but it made her happy.

Soon the food was ready. Vitor laid out a pair of plates on the table, two more ready for whenever Vindi found Merikh and the two of them came in. With a large wooden ladle, he placed some of the stew on her plate before getting himself a scoop. "Only the best for my goddess of a wife."

Sitting down across from her, he smiled before carefully taking the spoon and placing it into the mound of meat and vegetables before him. "I mean that truly. Force or Forceless, Light or Dark, you'll always be divine to me."

"Cute," the woman said with an obviously flattered voice as she looked deep into the man's eyes. For a moment, they remained motionless, but soon they turned to the stew. It looked really nice and smelled even better. Most likely it would taste as amazing.

"Thank you, Vitor," she said. Her mood had changed a lot since the moment she appeared. Maybe she was slowly regaining from her eternal slumber and emotions just needed some time to appear again. Or to function properly. Love was one of the things which she didn't feel yet, though. There was passion, but no serenity, no true pull towards a person.

She took a spoonful of the stew and had to admit it was really good. However, one thing was missing.

"You have wine, don't you?" she asked. Just like a true Lancaster, she preferred wine over everything.

"But of course." He smiled, standing back up and reaching for the bottle. Pouring a glass for Lilith, he smiled before handing it carefully to his wife and getting himself a drink. Soon he sat down across from his wife, smiling at the first sip.

"Why do you have to be so perfect for me?" It almost seemed like the inebriation had gotten to him with even the slightest taste. "You make me quite hot under the collar."
