Finally the bankers began to drift back to their desks. The storm was dying down; despite the lightning rods atop the buildings it was clear they didn't get a light-show like that frequently. One of them gave a start at seeing Audren simply sitting there, then glanced around to see if anyone had seen his jump. Once he recovered his equanimity though, he simply made his way to the desk.
"You're the Jedi interested in the commercial property?"
"That's me."
With trepidation that didn't show on his face, the banker explained that the bank's policy with Force users was to perform negotiations through a scapedroid and have the banker doing the discussing be in another location. The policy had been made with the resurgence of Force users in the galaxy and was to prevent unscrupulous individuals from using Mind Tricks to gain the upper hand at negotiations. Not that they thought Audren unscrupulous, he hastened to add, but they had to apply the policy equally across the board. When the Knight asked how they would have known him to be a Force user if he'd not told them up front. The man's uneasiness escalated, but he just sidestepped the question completely by apologizing and stating that was how things were.
The banker was very plainly surprised when the Sephi agreed without arguing, though he tried to mask it. Without any further talking, just a nod, he went off to find a couple droids and an office to conduct the negotiations.
Nearly three hours later, all the documents were signed and Audren had his property. The banker had negotiated like a Toydarian, and he'd needed to fight tooth and nail for the price he got. Even so, the Knight deemed the outcome acceptable - he'd paid about what he'd expected, and he'd received ownership of the machines already present that worked. Those that didn't would be hauled away at the bank's expense, and the bank would also pay for the permits for any reconstruction needed. All in all, not a total loss.
