Ron Paul is a great guy. Too bad he didn't win the election.Carden Lorps said:Thats heavy, wow I never thought of the 'what ifs'

A big part was he didn't get his name on the final ballot. He ran as a republican, who generally promote war. So Fox news, who usually gives them media coverage, didn't give Ron Paul any... they wanted a president that would make big business money. So he didn't beat the other republicans at the primary, which decides who would face Obama.Carden Lorps said:I would expect that he did win, with that speech, but I guess the people didnt get it. As Americans we often don't get things and just write it off I guess. This guy had a very good s so eech I can tell you that much.

If it's within the rules, It's within my bounds if that makes sense. Thanks for the heads up thoughValeria Aetani said:Friendly warning time. Politics can become a fraught issue. This is going nicely now, please keep it that way.
Are you making a specific reference by any chance? I don't get it.House Ak'lya said:Inb4flamewar
Oh, politics...
And while this conversation is going, can we scold the media for accusing people of racism for voting for what they believed in? Because calling people racist for not voting for someone is, in and of itself, racist.
It's a friendly warning because in our vast experiences, political/religious discussion typically devolves into someone making some offending comment, and someone else responding vehemently, which then leads into a giant flame war. Most people on the internet cannot seem to carry a respectful, thoughtful, and polite conversation regarding these topics.Lupe Baracka said:If it's within the rules, It's within my bounds if that makes sense. Edit: Unless this is going to be one of those things where I debate, and never break a rule but still get banned for a week because an admin didn't like it. Of course I'm not referring to anyone specifically but forum rules sometimes don't stand

I assume he is referring more to European parties like UKIP and Front Nationale rather than Ron Paul, which got accused of racism, xenophobia, wanting to legalize rape and demanding that voting rights be removed for anybody not bringing in 300k pounds a year and other such silly stuff, rather than just completely ignored like Paul was.
Thanks! Makes a lot more sense.Alice Red said:[member="Lupe Baracka"]

So, it's just a friendly reminder to everyone that these topics are figurative minefields that must be watched carefully. Nothing's happened yet, and we hope nothing will, but just be careful.
I do think many people did vote for him because they were ready for "Change."House Ak'lya said:[member="Lupe Baracka"]
That's a reference to the press during Obama's first election.
