An Odyssey No More

She struggled to stop falling, she couldn't stop falling, because she was in the emptiness; the void.

Wait!

She screamed to herself inside her mind.

"Where is this? Where are you!" She finally wrapped her head around the concept that she was where she had always sought to be. The entire purpose of her people.

Unbelievable.

"I am everywhere, child." the voice would come to her, the steady feeling of detachment was dissipating as the entity was slowly putting back his attention at her.

Suddenly she would stop falling, instead hanging suspended in the voidless ether. The space was empty, a darkness filled every corner of it and yet there was the suggestion of more. If only she would be able to truly open her eyes and wrap her mind around the sheer encompassing matter that made up this realm.

Was this what it meant to be a God?

And so the ancient entity simply waited, pondered and analyzing his most zealous of followers.

Suddenly she stopped falling. It didn't feel as if she was being lifted nor held, it was almost as if momentum itself did not exist. There was no feeling of heaviness, lightness, or touch; it was static.

All around her the darkness felt like a wall meant to contain whatever it was she was inside or maybe it was the outside she was in and this being, is the inside of that... Relativity is nonsense when you think of it. Regardless of ones perspective it does not change the most basic fact. She's here, right now, and no level of analysis is going to change any factor; just perspective. Really though -- what has perspective offered her thus far?

No, alas she had to forget her suspicions and ignore her doubts in order to ask the most fundamental question.

"Who are you?" She couldn't be entirely certain and depending on their answer she might not even believe.

That was the nature of Sargon's most humble. The leader of zealots is a cynic.

And the nature of a, or even the God was that he was easily distracted and prone to boredom. Such was the fact when she kept asking the question that she already knew the answer of, deep within the clutches of her essence.

"You know."

Slowly the presence was fading away, already everytime she blinked she would feel a slight little pull back towards that infernal place that was her ship.

"And what do you want with me? I'm supposed to find this place, and bring my people here.... So why am I alone?" She couldn't help but wonder what the purpose was.

Was this some grand scheme? She couldn't help but feel there was something else at foot but to ignore the call of a God, no matter how uncertain she was could not be done.

That was the flaw of zeal.

Of course that did make some sense but he -- like her -- was the voice of God. Everything she said was law; just as he.

So what did they mean?

"What do you want of me then? Is that why you brought me here?"

"Anja Aj'Rou, Daughter of Azaran Aj'Rou and Junea. Host Lord... my Harbinger. The Prophet has reached too far and it is time for his corrupted ways to end."

No... She couldn't help but not believe. But how did he know her father's name? How could he know the name of a mother she did not know.

There were many secrets in her life but these were not facts know to anyone but herself.

"Tell .. Tell me what to do." She stuttered for the first time in her life.

Truly, was she in the presence of God?

"You will travel back to the Beginning, none shall stand in your way for you will hold my mark." and as the entity's words filled her mind, she would experience liberating and clean pain emanating from her forehead, light radiated and something was burned into her skin. "You will travel to his new court, and I will speak through you. In the end they will know him for a Pretender and I shall lend you my strength to end his decadent ways."
