Private An Unexpected Disaster

I do not mind the small celebration on board our transport. I had fulfilled another task given to me by the Board of Directors. Once more I have succeeded in securing another contract for New Cov's biomolecules. At this rate I should be promoted to full membership in a very short time! And that in and of itself is a cause to celebrate.

I finish my champagne and set the flute down on a tray. There is little doubt that my make up needs a bit of a refresher for I can see remnants of my lipstick on the glass. There is not very much, mind you. But I can see it.

I am glad to not be in the middle of a conversation with anyone, for it affords me the perfect moment to slip away to the powder room. I do not know all of the souls on board personally, yet they had been vetted by my security team. So there is little doubt in my mind that I should have any reason to feel cautious. Or perhaps that is the champagne making me feel that way.

The lights are pretty in the way that they flicker when one looks at them from the corner of their eye.

I enter the powder room. It is empty save for my own reflection in the mirror. I walk towards it and place my handbag on the counter. My gaze is transfixed on the lightened tone of my lipstick. Some of it has come off, and a little more than I would like. I open up my handbag's clasp and remove a tube of lipstick.

And just as I am about to apply it to my lips, I am knocked off of my feet. I fall back and hit my head on the hard floor. Without warning the transport feels as though it had been punched or kicked. The lights flicker as an alarm begins to sound off.

Did we hit something?

Location: The Eggman

"WE GOT A LIVE ONE!" Velran Kilran eagerly funneled some Butter Popcorn he 10 minutes ago. Who knew New Alderaan despite their "sophisticated" culture, they surprisingly make great Popcorn machines. When Velran first took over New Alderaan, he found a Popcorn Machine inside of a noble's home shortly after he decapitated that said noble for speaking out against him. The man didn't need that Popcorn machine and besides one can never rule a planet on an empty stomach so Velran helped himself to it. It's not like the noble was going to use it anyway.

Velran's victory over the Galactic Alliance on New Alderaan felt like it was so long ago. His takeover of New Alderaan was swift and it made Velran's already enormous ego grow even larger. But just when things were looking up for the Admiral, the Empire crumbled due to their stupid squabbling. It was predictable, a bunch of pompous pricks more concerned about sitting still and clinging on to the little power they've attained rather than looking ahead annihilating everything that was in front of them. It had happened so fast..... and Velran and his soldiers were now a fleet without a flag to rally behind. Those fracking frackers and their hubris, though many of his men gave into degeneracy, Velran took charge and decided to start his own faction. A faction where he will be the heir to the Empire. Velran pressed the button on arm of his chair and began to speak into it.

"Admiral's Log! Stardate...... I don't know but honestly I don't give a chit." Velran said as his men began to use the tractor beam to pull the nearby luxury ship in. "Though the Empire's incompetence damned us in this.... uncomfortable purgatory, I've made my men understand that as I long as I live and breathe, I will be head honcho and anyone who acts out of turn well..... let's just say there's a hell of lot less mouths to feed. But those are loyal to me have making sure that New Alderaan has become a planet where I will begin my conquest. We've taken over the moons and created freaking laser beams and nice coffee houses!"

While Velran continued eating, two squads of Stormtroopers began to run towards the main hangar. A smirk formed on his face. "We've raided many ships ranging from military to pizza delivery services. It was thanks to my intellect that I was able to expand fleet and force the New Alderaanians to join my army. My personal ISB made sure to..... persuade them to be loyal to me but now we have a luxury ship on tow. That means hostages! Lots of hostages!"

Velran turned off the recorder leaning against his chair. "I want to check them out for myself!" Velran said cheerfully. "Aaran! You have the deck until I come back!"

The Imperial Knight gave Velran a bow. "Would you like me to make you an expresso while you are gone?" He asked.

"Yes! And none of that little teacup stuff! GIMMIE THE JUMBO SIZE!" Velran yelled before running out of the bridge. As soon as he arrived at the hangar, Velran saw the ship with 5 Squads of Stormtroopers surrounding it. "All right people! Scanning crew go first!" Velran said. "Anyone who resists take them down but minimize the casualties! Based on the scans there are some important people in this ship!"

Oh my head hurts. I lightly touch the back of it that had struck the floor and I am not surprised to discover a lump forming. That is a bit concerning. I feel no wetness and looking at my hand confirms it. I am not bleeding. That is at least a bit of good news.

I pull myself to my feet using the counter to help me regain my balance as the transport lurges again. At least this time it was not as bad and I was not thrown from my feet. Still the alarms are sounding. This is also concerning.

I grab a hand towel and soak it with water in a sink. As the towel gets wet I reapply my lipstick and replace the stick of make up into my handbag. Then I fold up towel and press it against the lump on my head before walking out of the powder room.

What I see as I emerge is not what I expected. Nearly everyone has their faces pressed up against the transparasteel windows. "What has happened?" I ask one of the servers. "What did we hit?"

"Nothing, m'Lady. We've been taken out of hyperspace and caught in a tractor beam."

"Are they pirates?" New Cov has a history of being attacked by pirates for access to our biomolecules, so they are my first guess.

"No, my'Lady. The vessel appears to be Imperial."

Imperial? My brows furrow in thought. Why would they commandeer this transport? I do not have much time to ponder on that thought before the transport has been brought into the hanger. Word quickly spreads about Imperial soldiers surrounding the transport. I let out a small huff. "There has to be some mistake. We are not their enemies. Do not put up a fuss. I will ask to speak with their Commander and have this all cleared up. Then we will be on our way back to New Cov."

I hand over the wet towel to one of the servers and patiently watch as the hatch is forced open. Armed troopers pour in like a white wave. And still I just stand there like the others do. Although within me is a hint of defiance as I speak up to the one that approaches me. I am unphased by the barrel of a gun pointed at me. "This is a diplomatic vessel of the neutral planet New Cov. Take me to your Commander at once."

DEAD! BUT STILL A GENIUS!!!!!!!

The scanning team entered the main room of the ship not saying a word at the hostages. "Get down on the ground now!" A commander wearing a red kama dual wielded Blaster Pistols and pointed them towards the people. The other Stormtroopers did the same and swiftly moved to the ship examining the area and picking items of interest.

"So, you're the leader of this vessel?" The commander inquired the blonde woman. "Mera! Take her to the Moff!" A female Stormtrooper wielding a TL-50 gripped the woman's arm pulling her away from the Stormtroopers who were now ransacking the place throwing tables over ande\ taking out drawers searching for anything of value.

Velran as well as the numerous Stormtroopers behind him watched as two figures emerged from the ramp. "Sooo," Velran chuckled wringing his hands vigorously. "Is this an Alliance ship?"

"We're still scanning the area Moff Kilran," Mera replied. "But based on our impressions this is a luxury ship and there are nobles aboard. According to this one, she says this is a diplomatic ship to New Cov."

"Diplomatic you say?" Velran took a step closer to the woman invading her personal space. "So, you're charge?" Velran gave a devious smile to her.

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

I watch as my fellow Covie follow the orders being spouted at them, kneeling on the floor. Some of them draw up their hands as though they were surrendering. My jaw drops ever so slightly as the storm troopers begin their search of our property. Clearly they were looking for something specific that they believe to be hidden here.

My attention is redrawn to the troopers in front of me and I am soon pulled down the ramp and away from my fellow Covie.

I am brought over to whom I can only assume is the Moff to this particular ship. As expected he assumes that we are an enemy vessel. One of the troopers corrects him for me, however whether or not he believes the soldier I am uncertain, for he steps far too close to me than I am comfortable with. I cannot step back due to my arm still being held, so I remain solid in my stance. "New Cov is a neutral planet. We are not at war. What exactly is it that you are looking for? Perhaps I could direct your troopers to it."

She's defiant! Didn't twitch as soon as Velran invaded her personal space. But of course, one can't assume too much and everyone has a weak point. "No, no, no." Velran whispered. "I'm in charge! ME!" He leaned towards her. "I'm in charge!"

He motioned Mera to let go of the woman's arm. "Private!" Velran said. "Tell the Commander to tear ship apart and have the passengers prepped for questioning!"

"Yes sir!" Mera pushed the woman to her knees and saluted running back to the ship.

"Here's the thing," Velran said forming a sinister grin. "I'm the head honcho of New Alderaan and right now I'm in world full of hungry little Monkeys!"

Velran snorted in front of her. "So, I'll ask again," he said. "What's your name?"

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

This Moff is highly unorthadox! I am not sure if it is all some kind of a prank, or if it is indeed real. He goes from whispering to shouting in my face and I am quite certain that he is looking to get a particular reaction from me. Just as he is looking for something in the ship.

Or maybe someone?

I am pushed down to my knees and my only concern is my dress and how unlady-like this is! So I sit myself down and fold my hands upon my lap as though I were at a picnic of sorts instead of in the hanger of a massive warship surrounded by soldiers.

I look up at the strange Moff that addresses me, taking in that little bit of information that he gives me at a time. "I am Liin Terallo, junior member of the Board of Directors for the New Cov Biomolecule Company. Who or what are you looking for? We are not hiding anyone, I assure you. There is no reason at all for this outlandish behaviour. Now who may I ask are you?"

The moment Liin said who she was, Velran held his hand against her face. "NOBODY CARES!" Velran shouted in a mocking tone before whispering. "Nobody cares."

It was really awkward talking to Liin while she was sitting down as if she was on the grassy hills looking up at the stars. But people have their quirks and besides it'll be the last time Liin will get a chance relax like this. "Listen here junior member nobody cares," Velran continued. "You know why nobody cares who you are? Because nobody in here cares about your feeble accomplishments and nobody cares about how you managed to become a JUNIOR MEMBER! As if that's something to be proud of!"

There were two people in life, those lead and those who follow. There was no half assing like Liin did people like her get kicked to the edge of the Galaxy pretty quickly. "So get up!" Velran grabbed Liin's arm forcing her to her feet. "And YOU will do as your told." Velran said. "Stand over next to Corporal Chitster."

"It's Chonster sir." The Stormtrooper said.

"NOBODY CARES!" Velran shouted pushing Liin to the Stormtrooper before pointing his finger to Liin. "Watch me work my magic, we have a lovely assortment of hostages and I definitely wonder how much New Cov will fetch for you!"

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

His behavior is rather unorthadox. And very, very odd. He is for sure a madman and I cannot imagine how it came to be that he is leading those on this vessel, let alone how they do not attempt a mutiny. It is very clear, however that I am in the presence of pirates merely pretending to be Imperials. That in and of itself is disappointing. For outside of their uniforms and their ship, there is nothing Imperial about them.

He mocks my position in NCBC, having no clue in regards to what it takes to get to that place on the corporate ladder. It is just two away from the very top and running New Cov.

He manhandles me, pulling me to my feet and I do my best not to trip over my own feet as I am pushed towards one of the soldiers. I am given another point of evidence that I am in the presence of pirates, for he speaks about hostages.

"There will be nothing for you to gain. For as you say, we are nothing and in that regard we are easily replaced. New Cov has a history of being attacked by pirates and raiders. There is an order in place whereas ransoms are never paid. It may seem cold to some, but it is what it is." And it maintains our control over our resources.

"Nothing?" Ms Nobody cares is genuinely trying to downplay her worth how little it is. A woman like her is definitely has her uses and right now Velran needs somebody to serve at his council: Willingly or not. Velran imprisoned all of the New Alderaanian politicians for speaking out against him rumored or not. Yet none of his people were experienced enough to run a planet, they like Velran were more suited for fighting the Empire's enemies. Yet with the Empire gone, there was no order, no structure, no purpose. But Velran made sure to pick up where the Empire left off, which was to rule and dominate something the Empire should've done.

"Oh my dear!" Velran said as screams were heard from luxury ship. "You may be some junior businesswoman but you do have a use even if you won't fetch a ransom!"

He reached out and grabbed Liin's arm. "You work for me now," Velran growled. "And you will be my permanent hostage! You will do what you're told!"

Liin's people began to slowly walk down the ramp single file with two Stormtroopers aggressively urging them to move. Liin could see their frightened and panicked faces. "Don't worry about your people," Velran smiled. "They'll have a nice date with the ISB, just want to make sure that they have some useful information. It's been soooo long since we've made contact anyone who wasn't Alderaanian!"

My attention is diverted to the ship as I hear the screams within. It is fortunate that it is not followed with blasterfire. The last thing that I need to be witnessed to is a slaughter.

Once more my arm is grabbed, distracting me from the goings on inside of the ship. I look to the man that growls as he speaks. With his bold statement I am unsure if I should be frightened or worried or both! I am hoping that my eyes do not betray my attempt at putting on a brave face. "Permanent hostage? You mean prisoner, do you not?" Although I have not commited a crime. Most especially against these people.

Once more my attention is redirected to my fellow Covie as they are marched out of our ship. I tighten my jaw. My imagination runs wild as I worry about just what they will face during their questioning. I do hope that torture will not be involved. But that seems highly unlikely.

"And what is to happen to them afterwards? Are they to remain as prisoners as well?"

"Prisoner is a term reserved for people who cross me," Velran responded smiling gripping Liin's arm. "You work for me now! And depending on the information that your people divulge either they're welcome to the family or..... there's less to feed!"

Just then Velran hoisted Liin up throwing her over his shoulder. "RIGHT NOW JUNIOR BUSINESSWOMAN!" Velran yelled. "IT IS TIME FOR US TO EXPAND MY KINGDOM! NOOOOOO! MY EMPIRE! FOR TOO LONG I HAVE VEGETATED ON MY THRONE AND ALLOWED MYSELF TO BE OPEN FOR ATTACKS! NO MORE!"

He looked at Liin. "It's time for us to go home!" Velran said. "I want to know everything about your job and what kind of connections you've got!"

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

I raise my eyebrows in surprise as he informs me that I will be working for him. How absurd! I am not some freelance employee! Plus I highly doubt that he would ever pay me. I am certain that my salary is far too high for his tastes.

I do my best to keep my gaze away from my fellow Covie, most especially as he threatens their lives. For I highly doubt that he would let them go back to New Cov. Surely he means to kill them if they do not decide to stay. I know that I, myself would not wish to stay in the company of this man.

Quite quickly my thoughts are disrupted as I am flung over his shoulder like some sack! "Hey! This is not very dignified! Put me down at once!" My parents would be appalled to see me treated in such a manner! I am glad that they could not see me. The humiliation would just be too much.

I cannot yet fathom what his home will be. No doubt it will be quite a mess! I look to the soldiers that we pass by as I am carried. Could I trust any of them at all? I suppose that it will not be long before I can find out. At this point I am glad to not be wed or have any children to worry about. For if I am to be killed on a whim, it will not matter. Only my parents would grieve.

"This is not very dignified!" Velran mocked Liin's tone as she demanded him to put her down. "You sound like the many Moffs who were content to sit around and throw fancy parties while people like me actually did all the hard work and expand the Empire!"

From what Velran heard, all of those Moffs were killed either by their own soldiers, or Silver Jedi Order. Those Moffs who coasted by were easily torn down when the thick walls of corruption and bureaucracy were destroyed, and their incompetence exposed. "You would love those kinds of incompetent buffoons!" Velran laughed as he headed back to the bridge being accompanied by a squad of Stormtroopers. "But you're with me little lady! The Moff who transformed New Alderaan from a plain and boring planet to a powerhouse!"

It felt good to be the Emperor of a planet but Velran wanted more, capturing a ship and interrogating its leader was the most fun he had in a long time. "So let's discuss negotiations!" Velran announced still carrying Liin. "I'm sure you're wondering what your benefits are and your pay?"

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

I do what I can to maintain the posture of a lady while being carried in such a loathful manner. He is lucky that I carry no weapons on me, otherwise he may very well lose his life. So readily available is his back that all that I would have to do is stab it. Perhaps now all that I am left with is to do that figuratively. That is something for me to think about in the future. Although I have never hurt anyone; let alone killed someone. My hands are clean.

I hold in the huff that threatened to leave me as he dared to presume who I would like or dislike. It is not his place to make any kind of assumptions. But I have the feeling that he will either disagree or not care. It makes me wonder if anything that anyone says ever gets through that thick head of his.

"I can hazard a guess as to what my benefits and pay will be; but please enlighten me." Rarely do I ever dread anything, yet now I find myself dreading every word and movement that this vile man makes. I can only hope that he soon gets bored of me and moves on to turn his focus onto someone else.

"Now come on!" Velran said continuing to carry Liin over his shoulder. "Right now we're in the final stages of the interview! You have the job in the palm of your hand! We just need to hash out a few more details!" As soon as they arrived at the bridge, all of the crewmen and guards gave Velran a salute before returning to their posts. Aaran gave Velran a respectful bow before pointing at the large cup of Expresso sitting on the Admiral's chair.

"All right people! We've got a live one here!" Velran casually dropped Liin on to the ground while he sat on the Admiral's chair. "This will be Liin Terallo! She's from New Cov and she'll be proudly serving as our representative!"

"Hi Liin!" The crewmen all shouted in unison. "Righto!" Velran said clapping his hands while rubbing them gleefully. "Let's go home! We have to dismantle the ship, interrogate a couple of New Covians, and make it on time for Bingo!"

The crewmen punched in the coordinates and they began to jump into Hyperspace, the blackness of space began to distort into a light blue tunnel. "Ooookay!" Velran said looking down at Linn while leaning on his chair. "How much did you get paid on your last job? And what were your benefits?"

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

To my surprise I am dropped down to the floor instead of properly being situated in a chair. This man has no respect whatsoever! And yet somehow he is leading these people. It must be a part of some Force wizard's spell. That is the only explanation that I can think of.

This whole situation is absurd and I wonder if I am dreaming. I pinch myself to be certain. Much to my dismay I do not find myself in my bed. Here I am on the floor of some 'Imperial' vessel.

I get to my feet and dust myself off, flattening off any creases that might have formed on my dress. Without so much as a huff, I dip my head ever so slightly to the crew on board. It takes me aback to think that I am supposed to represent them. Most especially given that I have been among them for a very, very short time.

"I am paid ten thousand credits per week, plus a living allowance. My benefits include everything such as health, dental, cosmetics, clothing and travel." As far as I sm concerned, I am still very much an employee of NCBC. I only meed to somehow get word to them of our whereabouts.

Velran took a small sip of his Expresso smacking his thin lips while Liin explained her position and benefits. It was all white noise to him she might as well be speaking Wookie at the moment. Liin will do what he tells him to do but it'll be nice to humor her especially on their way back to New Alderaan. "10k a week," Velran said taking another sip. "That's like 40k a month which totals to be...... 480k a year but that's without taxes so New Cov is located in the Mid Rim which is notorious for having ridiculous tax income."

He was deep in thought now drinking more of the large cup expresso while Aaraan stared at Velran with a proud smile on his face. "How do you like the Expresso boss?" He asked.

"Oh, it's great as always," Velran replied. "I tried to have some Alderaanians recreate your Coffee, but they failed miserably. So, I had them sent to the hard labor camps."

Velran then turned to Liin. "OKAY BACK TO MY CALCULATIONS!" He yelled at Liin. "So the Mid Rim has a 15 percent tax rate sooooo 15 percent of 480k is 72,000 plus planetary tax..... you'll have around 315k left."

He gave a long whistle before sipping his Expresso. "Not a bad in the office plus a little bit of insurance! I think I can not only match but exceed what you had back New Cov."

Velran placed his cup of Expresso on the arm of his chair interlocking his fingers against one another a smile slowly forming on his lips.
OIP.Y5Ies8fJFTjpwKe9HuIF7AHaEK

"Here's a trade offer Terallo!" Velran said. "I receive undying loyalty from you, guarantee that you'll represent my interests, and you'll work tirelessly to cut deals to bolster my fleet. And you receive.......

He took a deep breath. "NOTHING!" He roared into her face.

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

I can tell that everything that I say goes in one ear and out the other. Does he even have a brain to fill that space between his ears? Or is it all just ego? More than likely it's the latter.

And as expected, he is clearly more focused on his expresso than whatever it is that I have to say. The man has plenty of issues that any pychologist would enjoy diagnosing. But I do not share in that joy. Not in the slightest.

His calculations are laughable. Is the man even educated at all? Yet as he rambles on it becomes clear to me that there are no benefits or payments to be to be made at all. This is all just a part of some silly game. It almost makes me want to smack him. But I refrain for that is not what a lady would do.

And after he screams his offer to me which of course is nothing, I raise an eyebrow and give a moment's pause before I reply; "Your petty offer is declined. Goid day to you." Abruptly I turn on my heel and walk away from him. I am not entirely sure of where I could go, but the further away from him that I am, the more relief that I will feel.

"Yeah ummm where do you think you're going?" Velran questioned. "You're not done until I say you're done because I don't think you understand when I say that you work for me now."

As Liin walked away from Velran, two Immortals stepped in front of her raising their rifles to in front of her face and motioning her to turn back to Velran. "I've given you a generous offer," Velran said taking another sip of his Expresso. "The other option is that I kill you and your people and space your bodies so you can be fed to an Exogorth!"

Alaan nodded in agreement. "Not a very good move my lady," he said.

"SHUT ALAAN!" Velran shouted. "I'M TRYING TO TALK!"

"Sorry sir!" Alaan said springing to attention.

"Now allow me to continue......" Velran cleared his throat. "That wasn't a very good move my lady," he said before Alaan looked at him flabbergasted.

"Now I really want you to think about the offer," Velran continued. "Pretty please?"
