Liin Terallo
Biomolecule Innovator
I do not mind the small celebration on board our transport. I had fulfilled another task given to me by the Board of Directors. Once more I have succeeded in securing another contract for New Cov's biomolecules. At this rate I should be promoted to full membership in a very short time! And that in and of itself is a cause to celebrate.
I finish my champagne and set the flute down on a tray. There is little doubt that my make up needs a bit of a refresher for I can see remnants of my lipstick on the glass. There is not very much, mind you. But I can see it.
I am glad to not be in the middle of a conversation with anyone, for it affords me the perfect moment to slip away to the powder room. I do not know all of the souls on board personally, yet they had been vetted by my security team. So there is little doubt in my mind that I should have any reason to feel cautious. Or perhaps that is the champagne making me feel that way.
The lights are pretty in the way that they flicker when one looks at them from the corner of their eye.
I enter the powder room. It is empty save for my own reflection in the mirror. I walk towards it and place my handbag on the counter. My gaze is transfixed on the lightened tone of my lipstick. Some of it has come off, and a little more than I would like. I open up my handbag's clasp and remove a tube of lipstick.
And just as I am about to apply it to my lips, I am knocked off of my feet. I fall back and hit my head on the hard floor. Without warning the transport feels as though it had been punched or kicked. The lights flicker as an alarm begins to sound off.
Did we hit something?
