As soon as she caught sight of her mommy Vera jumped to her feet and ran straight to her legs, wrapping herself around them to hold onto the person she loved most once more. Everything could have been so much worse, but somehow he had managed to keep not only Vera safe but himself. Even after all that, he felt guilty for not doing more to avoid the situation. If Valery shouted him down he wasn't going to blame her, he deserved it for not reading the situation better.

However, instead of an angry onslaught, he was met with a relieved and thankful Valery who thought he couldn't have done better. When she pulled him in, Silas wrapped his arms around her tightly and stayed there for what felt like forever. The wave of shame that was over him soon turned into pride. In reality, Silas had gone above and beyond, keeping cool and acting like an individual way beyond his years of experience.

In the end, he was his own worst judge

"Thank you master..." he said with tears in his eyes, a smile going back up to Vera who was still hugging Valery pretty tightly "I just did what I could to keep her safe, thankfully I did enough before you came" he didn't care what happened to himself, all that mattered was the fact Vera was unharmed "You don't owe me, anything Master. It was about time I repaid you for all the times you helped me get through," Silas said before he was pulled back to check if he was hurt.

All together Silas didn't look too bad, the only noticeable injury was the bruised and blooded hand that was hard for him to close "I'm fine, a few of them managed to get some good cheap shots through" he said with a slight smile up to Valery, a hand going to the back of his head to scratch it for a few moments "Although, you may want to talk with Vera later. She has seen some things a child her age shouldn't have witnessed" the teen said with concern. Silas had an experience of such sights from when he was younger, he just hoped Vera wouldn't think about it too much. Seeing that Vera was looking at him again, he decided to change the subject to something he had been waiting to say.

"I see you kept that fluffy plushie safe huh?" Silas said with a positive tone of praise "Your daughter is a tough cookie master, not only did she get through like a soldier but she also kept her little buddy safe too. Believe it or not she also helped me with some of the bad guys" the words he said told no lie, Silas was impressed with how far she had come.

"But you have to promise me something. Only take away the positives from this day, do not ponder on the negatives. Is that clear, Vera?" he said with a caring tone to the girl, the least he could do was make it into a learning experience for her development as a Jedi.

Even though Silas didn't feel like she owed him, Valery still felt like she did. Vera's life mattered far more to her than her own, so for him to have protected the little girl meant everything to her. If it wasn't for Silas, she wouldn't have the little Noble tightly hugged against her now, and even after a long hug with Silas included, Vera just wouldn't let go either. She was sobbing and taking comfort in her mother's embrace.

"I'll be at home a lot the next few days, so we'll talk and spend some time together," she assured Silas. Valery then began to sway in position a little, creating a comforting rhythm that was joined by her hand going up and down Vera's back. It slowly helped turn the sobbing into sniffing, and eventually, there was just an exhausted little girl wrapped around her.

"I see you kept that fluffy plushie safe huh?"

His voice finally drew Vera's eyes back to him, and she nodded a few times. Valery watched it happen and looked at Silas when he talked about how strong Vera had been. It wasn't too surprising, given how much she had already been through. But it was nice to hear nonetheless, "Well, then I think you've earned the plushie and I'll make your favorite dessert tonight, okay?" Valery asked and that really seemed to help her brighten up.

"Can I have it with extra chocolate...?" she asked and Valery began to chuckle, "Of course. Anything you want, my little star." Valery pressed a kiss against her cheek and looked at Silas again, who wanted to say a few more things to Vera. The little Noble listened and nodded again, this time with the plushie tightly hugged against herself. "Okay, I promise," she said, and while it wasn't an empty one, she was definitely going to have it tough.

"Do you want to stay with us this evening and join us for dinner, Silas? You've earned something better than Temple meals."

After everything they had gone through, Vera deserved to have all the sweets in the galaxy. For a little girl, she had done better than most adults would have. If that didn't say anything about what she was going to become, he didn't know what else would "That's good to hear, she'll need all the attention you can give her in the coming days." Valery was a good mother, he was confident she'd be able to settle down Vera soon enough.

Silas smiled when Valery was promised some extra chocolate for later, a treat she more than deserved. In a way, he was happy his master was giving her time to be a child before she was properly thrown into the roller coaster ride of being a Jedi. All kids deserved a childhood, it was just a shame some were cut short like his. There was also one thing Silas wanted to take with her though, a learning experience she'd use later in life. Vera promised she would, and with that Silas hoped she'd remember it that way.

Looking back to Valery with a glimmer in his eyes he couldn't help but nod without even thinking about it "Of course Master, I can't say no to some more time with you guys" the teen said warmly as the group of them began to walk out of the arcade together. He also couldn't resist a home cooked meal, one of the things he missed when he was only a kid.

Thankfully, his new family helped him relive those moments...
