Archon Class Gunship
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
[*]Squadron Count: 6
[*]Manoeuvrability Rating: 6
[*]Speed Rating: 6
[*]Hyperdrive Class: Class 4. Usually starts in hangers.
[*]Special Features:
[*]Strengths:
Description: After the Battle of Kaeshana, Firemane decided to update and reinvigorate their armaments.
One of the tools missing from the arsenal was a gunship, specifically for ground-assault missions. The Archon was thus born in order to provide heavy aerial support for ground troops.
A combination of weapons was decided on. The heavy laser cannon on the nose provided good bombardment against vehicles and infantry alike. The rocket pods and shattercannons were lethal against infantry and light vehicles, whilst the proton missile launchers could break up heavy vehicles and strongpoints.
As it would be going into the heart of the enemy, the Archon has heavy shields and armour to give it the maximum survival chance.
The Archon is not well equipped to deal with enemy aircraft, and so should be escorted and protected. If allowed to though it is capable of unleashing a devastating onslaught against ground targets.

[*]Strengths:
- Ground Pounder. The Archon is heavily armed for ground attack. It is equally adept at hammering infantry, vehicles or structures with its variety of weapons.
- Tough. With heavy shields, plating and missile countermeasures, the Archon can take a beating and keep on coming.
- Weaknesses:
On Your Six. With only shatter cannons for rearward protection, the archon requires escorting to protect against hostile fighters and interceptors. - Lacks Ion. Though heavily armed the Archon lacks ion weapons to disrupt enemy shields and electronics. Thus it relies on brute strength to smash the enemy.
- Slow and Steady. Slower and less agile than other ships of its type, the Archon is best not used in environments where rapid movements are needed.
