Are all Jedi this reckless? Just the good ones…

“Dorin,” Corvus echoed. The twin attacks on the Jedi Enclaves were not a high point. Corvus had been left alone with a friend who had lost her life to a particularly spiteful Sith. Memories of the funeral still haunted her — it was one of the things she missed on Ossus, the ability to visit the grave.

“The Force is indeed an enigma. I reconciled with Connor recently. I’m sure the Force played its part there too. We had fallen out over something….something we shouldn’t have. But I’m glad we’re friends again. And he seems happy with that arrangement.”

“But I tell you who I haven’t seen for a long while and miss. Kian. Went off on a Shadow mission and never returned. Like Kiskla, I hold out hope that no news might turn to good news. But every day that passes reduces the likelihood sadly.”

A deep frown cast its' ugly shade on Sera's face the moment Corvus mentioned that Kian had disappeared. He had been, like Corvus, a sort of family to her. Both Jedi Masters were friends of hers, and mentors, having bestowed a great many talents in her that she otherwise may have never learned. For that she was eternally grateful to the both of them.

Her mind wandered for a moment, having stood aboard Kian's shadow vessel numerous times, having trained alongside him in some ways, and always learning more from his unique personality and kind demeanor. Hearing of his disappearance stood to put a crack in her heart. "I've not heard, nor seen him since my own departure." She sighed, wishing she had better news to share. "Not even a rumor here or there. I truly hope he is alright."

There were many who had perished, disappeared, or turned on the Order during her time, even more so for Corvus. She wondered exactly how the woman coped with all of the hardship, given that she had been thrust into the thick of things after Kiskla's own abduction on Manaan. Things were bleak, but she hoped everything would balance out in time. They had to, right?

Corvus shrugged and then smiled. ”We’re Jedi. This isn’t something we picked because the pay is good. Not even the dental care plan compensates for the risks. No…we do it because it’s the right thing. Sadly that means the loss of friends. Good friends. But I’ve learned not to become so attached that I can’t bear to lose someone. The death of my first Master taught me that.”

But there was a faraway look in her eyes. One day it might be Braith under discussion, and she wondered if she’d be so calm and collected then. In truth? She’d been thinking about it a lot. There was a reason Jedi had rules about attachments. And she suspected every one believed they were strong enough to cope. Was she any different?

”We’ll say our good-byes then,” she said as they reached Sera’s ship. Corvus’ was oddly in the same hangar, a few craft along. And she hugged Sera once more. ”Let’s not leave it to the Force to bring us together next time…eh?”

Seraphina nodded, embracing Corvus again. She liked this Corvus. Not to say she didn't love her before she discovered her feelings, but there was something genuinely nice about the feeling a hug of a true friend presented. "Not good-bye. Never good-bye." The pink Twi'lek mused for a moment. Perhaps it was cliche, but it was appropriate all the same. "Until next we meet." She squeezed a bit tighter, for if it were the last time, she wanted to make it count.

"No. We will keep in better contact. Let's make plans to see one another soon. Perhaps I can meet the one who cracked the shell of Grandmaster Raaf." She winked at the woman as she released her.

"I will miss you until then."

Corvus smiled. "I'd like that. All of it." She turned to face her own ship and started a slow walk towards Raven. "May the Force be with you...always," she said, loud enough to hear.

It was a slow pace but there was a spring in her step. Departing meant the next meeting would come sooner. Corvus the optimist. Corvus the Jedi. Corvus the friend. Corvus the 'one half of a partnership.' Life was getting more and more complicated.

And she loved it.

All of it.
