SPECIAL FEATURES
The armour has a Biorestorative Underlay. This, along with injection ports on the arm and leg, a Bio-Support Dispenser and a small field kit increases Elpsis' chance to survive in combat. The suit shifts its colour from its 'parade colour' to a camouflage pattern that matches the terrain. This makes it harder to spot Elpsis in the field. The suit is outfitted with a Bodo Baas Gunbelt (purchase request here, permission here), which is worn in bandolier form, and a J1 Utility Belt. A Sky Strike Jetpack (purchase request here, permission here) is commonly mounted on the armour, but this can be removed or replaced by a different model.

There is a Kasha crystal in the forehead of the helmet. Elpsis uses Force Sight to see and the crystal is imbued with her power. It enhances her perception, augments her Sense abilities and grants a degree of enhanced mental resilience. The passive protection is limited, and any significant protection requires concentration from the wearer. But it helps Elpsis maintain her focus, increases her awareness and clears her mind from distractions. If she finds herself engaged in a mental duel with a master, Elpsis will still have to do the work herself, but the crystal makes it easier. One side-effect is that she has better control over her empathic abilities. This is helpful when people are dying around her on a battlefield.

Beyond these, the armor features comparable technology to other similar line models produced by other governments in the galaxy up to galactic standard and codes in terms of software, uses, and durability. However, there is one feature that differs from the typical suit of armour. Or rather it is the absence of a feature. While the helmet has all the usual features to protect the wearer's head from attacks, pollutants, and chemicals, it lacks an HUD, special vision or targeting systems. This is deliberate instead of being an embarrassing oversight on the part of the designer. Elpsis is physically blind and relies on the Force to see, so she decided to forego a HUD entirely since she would be unable to use it anyway. Thus she does not have access to the different vision modes and tracking systems that are common for modern armour these days.

Strengths:
  • Tough and versatile. The suit offers good to very good protection against blasters, slugs and lightsabres. It also protects the wearer from environmental hazards and elemental threats.
  • Elpsis is more of a mobile fighter than her adoptive mother Siobhan and the suit's design reflects that. It offers a solid compromise between mobility and protection, allowing a notable amount of agility, endurance and range of movement.
  • Force crystal boost the wearer. The helmet features a crystal that is imbued with Elpsis' power. It enhances her Force Sense abilities, improves her mental resilience and boosts her awareness, allowing her to anticipate threats better and react faster.
Weaknesses:
  • Lack of HUD/special vision or targeting equipment. The helmet also has no visor. Therefore it is bad against sneaking enemies who are not visible in the Force. Elpsis is physically blind and has to use Force Sight to see.
  • Emphasis on mobility, so it is has less heavy plating that would give special protection against heavy impacts or blasts especially. Being hit by an anti-armour weapon such as a war hammer will still hurt the squishy body inside a lot.
  • Joints. Phrik is very tough, but the joints between the armour plates in the armpits, neck, groin and shoulder are weaker as they lack the heavy plates. This leaves them more vulnerable and makes them good areas for a precise attack, though the neck is more protected due to a gorget.
  • The crystal is imbued and has a minor Force aura about it. As a result, it is easier to sense through the Force. This makes it more difficult for Elpsis to hide from other Force-users. The armour has no special stealthy features other than adaptable camo paint and is thus not designed for sneaking around or covert infiltration.
DESCRIPTION

After she became associated with Firemane Industries, Elpsis tended to wear standard duraplast armour. Eventually, she was gifted Siobhan Kerrigan's old suit of beskar'gam, after her aunt moved on to a more advanced and, depending on perspective, moderately theatrical suit. The hardy, rugged Mandalorian suit served Elpsis well during many battles, such as the Omega War, Atrisia, Kaeshana and Mustafar.

The suit was of high quality, but Elpsis considered it too confining and restrictive, as it was a good deal heavier than she was used to. Moreover, she wanted something more personalised. Thus she built a new suit, the Knight Errant Armour, with assistance from Firemane armourers and her companion Taryc Ap'Irae. Made out of Phrik as opposed to Beskar, the appropriately named armour had a somewhat archaic look, but it was a good reflection of the wearer.

She fought many battles in it. Among other things, she duelled the Witch-Necromancer Matsu Xiangu on Ession and aboard the Acerbitas, a Rebel Alliance warship at the time. The Knight Errant armour was seriously damaged during the second duel when the Sith Lady unleashed her sorcerous powers, but served Elpsis well during the brutal duel.

Sadly, Elpsis was not wearing it when she and a Firemane delegation were ambushed by extremist elements in the Dominion of Light, a Jedi-led theocracy Firemane had been trying to negotiate with. Perhaps if she had, things might have taken a better turn for her, or not. Regardless, Elpsis stayed behind to hold off the Dominion attackers and cover the retreat of her comrades. Captured by the Inquisition, she was brought to a black site, where she was subjected to torture and brainwashing.

For a while she succumbed and was reborn as 'Jedi Roxane', a brainwashed drone devoted to the Dominion. However, she was able to overcome her conditioning and slay the Grand Inquisitor. Her actions sparked a prison revolt. When she was reunited with the Firemane task force that had come to rescue, Elpsis had defeated her tormentors, but the ordeal had left her with deep physical and mental scars. The new Elpsis was more goal-orientated and focused, but also more grim and haunted by what she had endured and done while under the thumb of the Inquisition. It took a while until she had recovered physically and even longer until she was ready mentally to return to active service. Fittingly, she decided it was time for a new suit, so she took her old armour and forged it anew.

The somewhat melodramatically named Armour of the Shining Flame is the fruit of her labours. Like her old suit, it uses Phrik plating to provide the utmost protection for its wearer without being unduly heavy and cumbersome. A variety of support systems are incorporated in the suit, enabling it to be used in any environment. Combined with an internal air supply, hermetic sealing allows the wearer to survive decompression, while the inclusion of a temperature regulator means Elpsis can be active in almost any climate. A thin layer of thermal gel mixed with foam sealant provide further protection against slugthrower and energy weapons. Moreover, this ensures that holes in the suit will automatically reseal, as long as they are not overly large.

A biorestorative underlay and other items hasten the healing process and increase Elpsis' chance to survive a fight. The power armour liner provides increased resilience against heat, fire, cold, corrosives, and poisons. Electromagnetic soles give Elpsis an improved ability to manoeuvre in zero or light gravity. Magno-grips allow her to lock herself onto metallic surfaces. The suit has a combat de-ionizer, as is standard even for Stormtrooper armour. The armour has earthing rods to dissipate electrical discharge, and is interior coated with heat retardant material and interior cooling to resist anything but the most extreme temperatures. The suit also allows heating to resist extreme cold. The gauntlets can retract enough to show her palms, in case it is necessary for Elpsis to do show to use her elemental Force abilities.

Although the Phrik armour provides very good protection against a variety of weapons, it lacks the bulk and plate thickness of heavier models. This makes it slightly more vulnerable. Heavy blaster and explosive weapons are particularly dangerous in this situation. The smaller frame and reduced bulk also ensures that impacts are less padded. The suit’s greatest weakness is heavy impacts such as telekinesis, falling or bludgeoning damage from hammers or heavy impacts.

The combat helmet features a rebreather, independent air filter, air supply and sonic dampeners. It is really enclosed and protective. This does not bother Elpsis because she can see through it. But as mentioned above she must do without an HUD. Elpsis also foregoes a visor. As a result, she must do without any of the vision modes, targeting systems, scanners and so on that are standard for most suits of modern armour. The helmet contains a Kasha crystal that has been bonded to Elpsis by being imbued with her power. It grants a boost to her Sense abilities, particularly her Force Sight, and grants a minor boost to her mental defences.
