Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (Non-Droid) (( Objective: A thesis must be written, either in a blog or over the course of a role-play thread, consisting of the concepts of your Artificial Intelligence’s design. Scientific journal excerpts from your character’s time spent designing the Artificial Intelligence must be included. Minimum 1000 words total. ))
I reread this, for like the dozenth time since my own AIs were made, because it was automatically claimed via a judge that all AIs require this dev. I'm wondering, is this true? Droid Minds can achieve sentience, true intelligence, after enough time has transpired if i am correct, which is why non droid is specified.

So, the question, is this about the sum of it? Do droids with AI need to meet AI dev requirements?

Droids aren't ever considered truly sentient, simply because they are the sum of their programming, and have natural restrictions in place to prevent truly free action: their duty is to serve their sentient masters, in one capacity or another. A true AI lacks this, and would be utterly unrestricted in action.

By gathering experiences, droids gradually began to develop a distinct personality and a form of consciousness.
Throughout the sub it says AI, of varying degrees, but then as quoted: develop consciousness.

whichever now, should mean A) they can learn via "gathering experiences" B)Gain personality and consciousness over time C) And have varying levels of intellect...

Sounds like humans lol. [member="Tirdarius"]

lol im confused. I might be reading wrong, but it looks like you said that i was right then that both droid and non require it. Just a single more clarifying mark is all i ask massuh!

Only non-droids require the objective.

That's true in real life, however in Star Wars canon most if not all droids possess Artificial Intelligence, that is the capability to learn, possess personality, and show emotion. It's often marginalized as them having quirks but that does not change the fact that C3P0, R2D2 and other canon droids possessed capability to learn, show emotions like fear, humor, happiness, or pain even if it didn't made much sense if you really thought about it. I would argue that Star Wars tech has long passed the point of singularity in which artificial intelligence was on the level or even surpassed organic intelligence, that's why it's so common in droids.

Usually it's kept in check through restrictions on their programming like obedience protocols, mind wipes, i.e. erasing everything the droid learned, its memories, and putting it back in factory setting, and the limitations of a droid body, which it uses to move around and interact with the environment.

You need development thread for artificial intelligence that operate outside of droid bodies, for example by moving from computer to computer through the holo-net, because by becoming disembodied they also become much more unrestricted. Think of it like a Jedi becoming a Force Ghost or a Lich transforming into a Demi-Lich.
