Strengths:

- Use of a tourniquet is always a last resort. Cutting off bloodflow to a limb for extended periods of time will result in necrosis, which may require amputation.
Description: The Auto Tourniquet is an update of one of the oldest and most effective lifesaving devices available to soldiers on the battlefield. Hemorrhaging is still the number one preventable cause of death on the battlefield, and an effective, easy to use tourniquet can often mean the difference between life and death.
Application is simple. In the event of a hemorrhage that cannot be stopped through pressure or hemostatic agents, remove Auto Tourniquet from sterile packaging. Place the durable nylon strap around the limb, roughly two inches above the injury. If a joint such as a knee or elbow is in the way, place two inches about the joint. Pull safety pin and press start button. Auto-windlass will engage and cinch the tourniquet down until the heartbeat sensor can no longer detect a pulse distal to the tourniquet. Once the bloodflow to the injury has ceased, the windless's motor will lock, preventing it from loosening up. The integrated timer will then start counting off the minutes and hours since the tourniquet was applied. The elapsed time will be displayed via a simple unlit digital display, allowing medics to know exactly how long it has been in place.
WARNING: For use on limbs only. Do not apply to torso or genitals. Do not apply around neck, as strangulation will occur.
WARNING: Extended use may result in loss of limb. Only apply as a last resort. Most useful in cases of arterial hemorrhaging or traumatic amputation. Tourniquet cannot be manually loosened, so don't use it unless you really need to.
WARNING: Tourniquet should only be removed by qualified medical personnel. If tourniquet is removed before the cause of bleeding has been addressed, removal may cause patient to bleed out.
WARNING: Do not cover tourniquet. Covering the tourniquet may prevent medical personnel from noticing it, which may result in unnecessary loss of limb.
