- Description: While capable of shapeshifting, the Avansas’s bodies inherently tend to express their crystals outside of the body, typically causing green patterns to become apparent in a variety of potential ways. However, apart from chosen shifts, apparent variations from their original species are minimal. The body may be prone to odd colorations.

- The Avansas version of the Vo is much stronger than their Vran counterparts, and also more durable. These Vo provide very limited shapeshifting (A slow and sometimes painful process. Bones or dense materials and complicated survival processes like digestion can take the longest.). When not being used for shapeshifting, they can be used for telekinetic efforts and something akin to Enhance Attribute. (Unlike the Vran, shapeshifting and telekinesis are often learned skills, rather than just further trained while natural. They do come more naturally, but are harder to master without pre-existing experience. Semi-Sentients are unlikely to understand this)
- Can come from almost any semi-sentient or fully sentient race.
- Stronger healing rate, more akin to Trandoshans. (Malformations are possible, especially if there were pre-existing ones. Avansas must pay attention to avoid this problem, just as with shapeshifting)
- Force sensitivity: Due to a wide range of changes including further connections and infusion of magic and alchemically altered Tainted Nightsister Crystals and Nightsister Force crystals the Avansas do possess force sensitivity, this is typically fairly strong and is most effective at self enhancement or self alteration powers like enhanced senses and physicals (while these are most natural, they are not inherent and may still need to be learned). Those with this have an inherent lean to the dark side but technically are not forced into it. (This trait does not pass to offspring by birth.)
- Consumption: Both born and created Avansas are able to ‘absorb’ nightsister crystals. This is not a fast process and can be quite painful. But, if they have access to them, it can help re-gain lost crystals or gain them (for those born, since they lack them inherently).
- May cause feelings of unease or unusual emotions to those around them. This can be advantageous or disadvantageous. It is somewhat possible to hide this but may be difficult or require a lot of practice. The exact results also vary. Those who are prone to the dark side or strong resistance to changes tend to have little notice. Those with inherent force resistance may not notice.
- Can use the tainted nightsister crystals to create a noxious green smoke, the Avansas have a resistance to this. Not generally very fast, nor dense enough to provide great obscurity.
- The Avansas can, with use of the shapeshifting, sometimes hide the crystals that tend to display in a variety of patterns in and outside the body. This is not permanent however, and the body will naturally push the crystals around.
- Alteration/birth has a chance to increase lifespan by 10-15% (this is not easily predictable)

- The Avansas have an even harder time than the Vran hiding their presence in the force, even if they learn the skill. This is due to the disconnect between their own genuine control over the force, and their control over their body which does more of the work.
- Offspring results are uncertain, level of comparison to parent(s) could vary drastically, even if they aren’t malformed which is a risk. Typically to the same species as when they were made into Avansas
- Will likely prevent further alterations, risky situations. This makes an Avansas a poor candidate for further changes, including cybernetics or sith alchemy. Their body may reject it, fight it, or move its location in a bad way.
- Being in the presence of force nullification can be considered extremely unpleasant, even aside from the same limitations other force users have. This is due to how ingrained the force is in their body, acting constantly and actively instead of according to the person.
- Body cannot inherently grow the crystals, this means enough damage could potentially remove the sensitivity to the force gained through them. The same applies to the Vo organ as it is also enhanced by use of the crystals. Removal of both the crystals and vo would mostly return an Avansas to the same as what they were before the procedure, perhaps with enhanced regeneration, and any alterations they'd made before the result.
- Prone to dark side. Both those born and made may be more inclined to feelings of unease for a time. This is not usually permanent.
- May feel a need to be warm in spite of not actually needing a higher temperature than their main species. Much like a sense of unease, usually goes away over time.
- Due to being able to be made via multiple species, results can vary. Semi-sentients are prone to far less impressive results, and while they show enhanced physicals, awareness, and effectiveness, rarely are able to make things like telekinesis work. And are far more prone to mutations and malformed regeneration.

- The crystals may show up in a variety of patterns on the Avansas’s flesh, both inside and out. Sometimes this can be hidden. They often glow, and can give away the Avansas.
- Even though the Avansas have shapeshifting, there is some inherent nature of the body to do things. As a result, it may try and reform malformations if they existed from birth or were genetic. This may require regular attention to fix. For those born with it, such efforts may be futile. Likewise it almost instinctively follows patterns with the crystals, some of which almost inevitably come near the surface of the skin.
- May have trouble disobeying Vash Walker or trying to displease him. (Not universal or passed on to offspring)
- Such a procedure on larger creatures is not often done due to the loss of crystals. It is typically restricted to closer to human sized species. Wookie sizes may be accepted, however it’s unlikely there would be much difference in the enhancements.
- Small species may not be able to be made into Avansas. A member of Yoda’s species is extremely unlikely to work and might even die in an attempt, and ugnauts sizes are ill advised.
- Alteration has a chance to decrease lifespan by 10-15%, this is not easily predictable.
- The telekinesis and production of noxious gas are the hardest of the abilities to learn, as the Vo is already designed for shapeshifting and the body is designed to work well with enhance attribute. However, the only ability that requires little or no learning is enhance attribute and the passive regeneration, as even enhance attribute does require some pre-existing knowledge or minor testing/practice.

- Religion/Beliefs: Although most created will be given an inherent desire to obey Vash Walker, they have little else. (This is not genetic or large enough to have an institution)

The Avansas are not your typical species, being almost exclusively limited to being altered pre-existing species. Unlike most of Vash Walker’s creations, these are not meant as a purely reproductive species, and almost as a form of modification like a biological form of a stim or adrenal. Technically, it is usually possible for a Avansas to reproduce, but this is typically limited only to whatever species they could with before. The offspring also do not always obtain all of the same attributes as the parent(s). They will obtain the altered Vo, but since the crystals can’t be organically replicated they would be lacking. However, offspring are easier to transform closer to full Avansas afterwards, if they can get access to the right crystals.
The Avansas possess a Vo based much on the vran. However this Vo does not replicate in exactly the same way. The Vo is greatly enhanced using a variety of methods of both the force and science, in order to connect them to Nightsister Force crystal and Tainted Nightsister Crystals combined into their flesh and Vo during surgery. However as a result of being more surgically implanted/altered in rather than being perfectly fit into the genetics like with the Vran, it is not able to be passed to offspring to the same extent, they will get the Vo, but the crystals remain out of reach. However, a Avansas offspring will inherently be able to more naturally merge the crystals into their bodies.
Unlike most species Vash made, these were not actually made for others or to be quite as lasting, though he would document how to create them. Instead he made them with the intent to make himself into one, this was due to several situations where he was put in a disadvantageous scenario, and greater combative capabilities would prove very useful. While the shapeshifting didn’t quite live up to his desires, it was also a part of his intention. His original hope was to replicate the best parts of both types of Vran, the ven and the shi, and then produce greater effects on top of that. However, likely due to the addition of the crystals interfering, he was not able to replicate them all the way. He did however find semi-sentients could technically undergo the procedure. These as well could be less than ideal, and more common enhancements like cybernetics would be a far less costly way to enhance a non or semi-sentient by comparison. However the procedure does still technically work, just not as well.
Due to being made for himself, not as many efforts were made into insuring the species would survive without him and as a result test subjects were not always perfected, and plenty died during his original tests only for him to harvest the crystals back from them and study where he went wrong. Whoever survived were either left to their own devises or intended, recycled, or intended for convenience. In spite of the foreseen risks of lack of force sensitivity, this was taken into account, it was the purpose of the shapeshifting, as the shifts will last even if the force were taken away, though it would prevent any further shifting. The expectation was that eventually the force would be regained.
The Avansas are actually named after the sith word for advanced, this was more due to Vash's arrogance in considering himself a superior creator in his designs as compared to sithspawn.
