Given the fact that the Force was still wonky, unless the Spirit of Chaos had changed its mind today, Tempest would most likely end up frying herself if she used her shocking powers.
Anyhow, Kaida acknowledged the message. "Understood." There was no need to waste words and so she did not do that. The plan was clear enough. Once the corsairs had reached the clearing the Firemane soldiers would have the task of suppressing their advance, whilst the Eldorai and Nantaris' boys pulled off a pincer movement to hit them in the flanks and envelope them, thereby cutting off any retreat option. Ergo Kaida cut the connection and, having gathered her troops, quickly set about to work.
At this point in time it might be pertinent to note that even the Eldorai army had not been fully closed to progress. Thus there were not only women amongst her soldiers, but men as well! Of course, the Angelii were still an all-female unit, only a few bleeding-heart liberals wanted something as unnecessary as change there. Anyhow, with instructions having been passed on to her battle sisters - yes, we're still using that term, even though it's sexist - Kaida quickly boarded her walker.
Three metres in height, weighing seven tons, with a thoroughly unimpressive speed of twelve kilometres per hour, the walker was made of thick duraplast plating combined with Graphite Mesh Reinforcement, making even the light variant an armoured powerhouse. One massive arm wielded a Heavy Bolter, the other a shattercannon, in other words pretty much the height in wanton, explosive brutality. The earth seemed to shake slightly as the large feet of the walker moved into action and trode upon it, throwing up dirt here and there. Movement was performed rather naturally, that is the wearer used her feet to direct the pedals and her arms to move the weapons.
On the beach itself a brutal battle was being waged as the Eldorai force moved into position. Much to the surprise of the Corsairs, they were not facing a few scattered enemies and terrified rabble that could be cowed with a few shots. Whilst many of the locals lacked experience and training, they were not defenceless and, more to the point, knew what fate awaited them if they faltered.
Upon their speed boats and hovercraft the pirates came racing across the water, coming very close to the beach before suddenly, from cover behind the rocks and in the woods, a hailstorm of fire was opened up upon them. Mortars roared as they thunked out shells, old-fashioned but still serviceable machine guns spat out hails of bullets and blaster fire blew off limbs and burnt tissue. Cries of pain were heard as corsairs suddenly were shot to death or fell off their boats into the water. Here and there, a speedboat was even blown up by mortar fire.
Well, it probably was not this bad, but you get the picture. However, the numbers of the corsairs were great and soon enough several had landed upon the shores, quickly disembarking from their boats. Loud explosions resonated across the beach and clouds of smoke billowed up into the sky when primitive land mines were detonated, tossing pirates into the air...or rather in a number of cases limbs as they were brutally ripped.
However, though caught by surprise the scum were not so easily dissuaded from their quest and, driven to go onto the offence by their Captains, soon rallied. Support fire came from their hovercraft, as gunners there unleashed heavy repeaters and light laser cannons. From high above in the air Gunships came swooping down and with a loud whoosh missiles roared through the air to impact upon the defensive positions of the natives. Though they had heart, many of them were not trained soldiers and they had their orders, and so as they took scores of casualties, with hundreds of more pirates racing towards the beach, the native militia began to retreat into the forest, dragging away their wounded and firing upon the corsairs where they could. Needless to say this encouraged the pirates and, covered by a barrage of hail and shell, they advanced, moving deeper and deeper into the island, amidst the explosions of land mines and the roar of engines as Eldorai and Firemane Gunships swooped down like birds of prey to tear into the scum's air support.
