Back in my day!

Miss Blonde

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
The low pulses of a bass drum played away while an overrated overpaid DJ changed tracks upon a stage above a dance floor. This was a very familiar sight to the crime lord who sat in the private VIP table that cost her about a grand to book, and another two grand on top of that for bottle service for overpaid alcohol. Now back in her youth Miss Blonde would of had to do some rather inappropriate things to get in this position where she was sitting in the VIP section, now all she had to do was take out her wallet and buy whatever. She was taking out what she considered to be her adopted daughter [member="The Black Hat"] to enjoy her youth in the club scene, really she was hoping the girl would grow to dislike it due to the many problems being a former party girl gave Patricia in her own life.

"The hell is that girl?" Blonde said waiting for Black Hat to return from the bar.

The woman was a bit too old for this lifestyle despite her youthful looks. She came off as twenty five at the list and appeared to be not that much older than Nyx, but that was the advanced anti aging technology at work and in reality the woman was pushing thirty seven. She'd past this moment in her life but it did make her feel nostalgic, and she was excited to see how Black Hat would react to all of it.

But the sooner the girl returned with the drinks the sooner she could go back to not using the bottle service she had paid for. After all that's how she had to do things in her day, running to get drinks for some hot rich guy that would stuff hundreds down her bra. Good times, good times.

"Sorry, but we don't take holocoin here."
Nyx glared at the bartender, crossing her arms in frustration. She's spent good credits investing in those holocoin mining operations, and had gathered a rather size able amount of the virtual currency. But as always with such ventures, the value fluctuated depending on who you were attempting to purchase goods and services from.
"Come on. This is the way of the future. Just get with the times, old man."
When she was met only with his continued glare, she sighed and forked over some credits, taking the two drinks from him.
"Ass hat." She muttered under her breath as she walked over to where [member="Miss Blonde"] waited. Nyx loved places like this. Not for the drinks, or drugs, or company, but because of the opportunities. While she did not partake in such activities herself, ones that did made themselves rather easy targets for the thief.

She slid into her seat at the table, handing her adopted mother a drink.
"Here's that drivel you wanted, you uncultured relic." She said with a smile and a twinkle in her brown eyes.
She herself sipped at the aged wine she had ordered, relishing the sharp taste, and the knowledge that this drink cost more than her entire orphanage growing up.
The feeling was exquisite.
"Nice choice of scenery, by the way. I love the 'desperate and drugged out of my karking mind' atmosphere this place has."

Patricia let out a small laugh at the girl's comments as she took her piña colada and took a sip, the atmosphere of the club may have been so but it was at least familiar to the woman and she could navigate it well enough to know whenever something would go down. Be it an awesome song or some nice pieces of trim walking by.

"I'll have you know that back in my day places like these were all the rage on my homeworld. And we both know the classics are better than the new constantly outdating antiquities of the galaxy." Miss Blonde said with another little sip.

"You know I used to be like all those girls on the dance floor believe it or not. Grinding on any man I could to take him home to my apartment then kindly ask him to get the kark out the next morning." Miss Blonde said as she stared out at the dance floor.

"But I was hoping bringing you here would help you come out of your total nerd shell. You're like a nerdy little turtle, that should be your code name actually." Miss Blonde chuckled again then looked back to the black hat.

She smiled gently and the older woman was happy to see how the girl had grown since she was sixteen. It had been a long way since Dredd and she was pleased that she was progressing well without having to kill anyone yet.

Nyx's eyes twinkled with amusement as she watched [member="Miss Blonde"], and listened to her.
"I'll have you know I find the constantly devolving culture of my generation fascinating to view from an outsider's perspective."
As they spoke, Nyx accessed her neural implant, sending a request to the DJ's terminal along with twenty credits.
After a moment, her song of choice began blaring over the speakers, accompanying a smirk on the thief's face.

Nyx tried to imagine the woman like the junkies on the dance floor. Physically, it would work fine, but she still just couldn't see it. The very thought made her shudder, and she mimed vomiting.
"Gross. I really didn't need that mental image."
And then finally, she stuck her tongue out at the woman.
"I'll have you know I've designed at least three worms capable of cracking the Republic database since the last time we did this, each doing it a unique way. I'm a viper, not a damned turtle."
She snorted, sipping at her wine.
"I dare you to even try to comprehend the chit in my head right now, grandma."

Miss Blonde shook her head in slight embarrassment and humor for the song choice, it wasn't really the type of music played in a club like this and Miss Blonde knew it would be changed quickly and the DJ was about to get plenty of tips to do so. So as different request came flooding in so the dancing could commence Miss Blonde chuckled when the song changed over to some form of EDM so the people could get their dance on like the end was upon them.

"And I'll have you know as someone who has a PH.D and a few masters that you my girl are a total nerd. Most people don't spend their time designing Trojans and viruses to break open databases, and believe me when I say this that there ain't nothing worth looking at in those things. Just a lot of dead people and financial reports." Miss Blonde took another sip from her fruity drink then continued the conversation.

"But as for what you're thinking or what's going on in your head I wouldn't need to take a stab when I could simply reach in there with space magic. Ooooohh~" the woman said making a mock ghost noise as she wiggled her fingers.

"But let me tell you, when I was your age I was doing all kinds of dumb crap. Spice parties, sex parties, dance parties, adult film parties, if it had party in it I was pretty much there. And just for the record in changing your name in my contacts to the nerdy turtle." Blonde raised her drink and performed an imaginary toast as she stuck her tongue back out to the girl.

Nyx raised her eyebrow at the description of [member="Miss Blonde"]'s activities as a younger woman, leaning back in her seat.
"I hope you at least had a fun screen name. Was it Candy? How about Scarlet Van Love? It sounds like a pretty good stage name for that sort of thing, I think."
"In fact, I'm changing your name in my contacts to Scarlet Van Love, grandma."
A quick thought cemented her threat, though she was a bit peeved about the 'nerd turtle' thing. She was so not a turtle.
"Sounds like you had a rather interesting young adulthood. Though I have no doubt I would've hated you."
She chuckled as she shook her head.
"I remember girls like that back on Coruscant. They'd pass by the orphanage on their way to some club or another. Me and Nikole used to make fun of their glittery party dresses. Those were the days."
Nyx had said the name 'Nikole' without quite realizing it, though now that she had, her eyes widened. Chit.
"Anyways, have I ever told you about the time I hacked the First Order? That was a blast, I tell ya."
She said quickly, hoping she had moved on quick enough for her adopted mother to not notice the name she had dropped.

"My stage name was my real name, my dress never sparkled, who the &$@# is Nicole, and I would of hated you as well because I used to smash nerdy turtles like you for fun. I was kind of the stereotypical pretty girl in High school bully with the jock on her arm and you knew put out all the time. They were dark days, we don't speak of them." Miss Blonde chuckled again and kept sipping at her drink.

"And no I don't believe you have passed that information along, but now that I know prepare yourself for a lecture missy." Miss Blonde said as she set her drink down.

She cared about Black Hat and even if they weren't on a first name basis Miss Blonde still loved the kid like a daughter and wanted her to be safe, and hacking people like the first order wasn't very safe, yes they were a second rate organization but where the republic would fine you or throw you in a luxury jail cell the first order would put a blaster in your back and dump you in a ditch if they were feeling generous.

"I've faced off against the First Order, and let me tell you they are not ones to be taken entirely lightly. Miss Nothing and I were on Lothal doing this job and they just show up with legions looking for Jedi to purge or whatever it is they do. Luckily we had a crew with us and everything turned into this big firefight. Lost a lot of people trying to defend the capital, when the first order wants something off the map they may not have the resources to do it but they will throw plenty of lives at it and get pet people killed in the crossfire. I know you got the whole teenage rebel thing and believe me I was there." Miss Blonde picked up her drink and took a sip.

"All I ask is that you be careful with everything. I've lost a lot of people over the years and I don't intend on losing anymore if I can help it." Words from the heart.

Nyx's eyes narrowed a bit at the lecture.
She was friendly with [member="Miss Blonde"], but she still didn't like being told what to do, especially from someone who frequently put her in dangerous situations.
"You're not really someone to talk to me about messing with dangerous people. I happen to remember a certain someone dragging a sixteen year old girl to a backwater called Dredd two years ago."
What she had seen and experienced that day still haunted her sleep. The corpses, the horrible things in the shadows, pulling the trigger of a blaster she thought was real, and nearly pissing herself in terror when the lights went out after Blonde killed that Sith.
"And believe me, I know the First Order. I've been with the Resistance before I knew you. And I know what they do to people."
She took a deep breath.
"Sorry, I didn't come to argue with you. I just don't like bullies, and the First Order are some of the worst examples of a bully."
Not to mention the Sith, but Blonde didn't need to know about her little war with the One Sith on Coruscant.

"It's alright, kid. I know there's the whole teenage rebellion thing going on. Just be careful is all." Miss Blonde said with concerned eyes.

"And for the record I totally had the Dredd situation under control, never a moment when I didn't." The woman laughed and polished off her drink finishing the tropical drink.

Miss Blonde cared for the Black Hat quite a bit and she knew that her age she thought she could take on the galaxy and come out on top. The truth was Miss Blonde was only alive because she buried her friends who died for her, and while she didn't doubt the orphan didn't know tragedy it was one thing to grow up poor and kick it with the resistance. But it was another to bury your fiancé and your friends, and to have the men you were responsible for die in your arms. It was a violent galaxy and Miss Blonde didn't want the girl to end up like her, but the life she was choosing to live one day you had to decide to kill or be killed.

The thought made Miss Blonde frown for a moment before the sound of an upbeat server clashed against the dark thought. Looking up at the server Miss Blonde smiled and spoke.

"Let's get some shots going! Six tequilas and a rum and cola please." Miss Blonde tipped the waitress then looked over to the kid with a smile.

"Tell me though, Hat. What made you want to join this merry band of thieves and killers?" Miss Blonde asked the young woman trying to divert the unpleasant thought she had of holding a young Republic marine as he bled out.

"Shots? So uncultured, [member="Miss Blonde"]."
The young woman was not one known for being able to hold her liquor, but she supposed it was alright. It was a time to relax. Accordingly, she did something she didn't do often: she pulled her hood down, letting down her shoulder length black hair, it's violet streak reflecting the club's lights above, her brown eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Guess it was about time I let my hair down."
She swept her hair behind her head, somewhat uncomfortable without the safety of her hood. She could be recognized, now, but she didn't really care. She couldn't remember the last time she had truly relaxed. There was always some corporation needing to be cut down a notch, a government oppressing it's people, and sometimes she was the only thing giving those people a sense of hope.

"A natural fit, to be honest. I'm a slicer and a thief, you guys like stealing things, it was destiny really." It was mostly true. Honestly, she'd been using the Syndicate's resources to find someone, with no success as of yet.
"By the way. . . my name is Nyx. Technically Anixya, but I'll hurt you if you call me that."
It was probably about time Blonde knew.

Miss Blonde was happy that after two years she could at least be on a first name basis with her adopted daughter apprentice person thing, whatever their relationship was. And Miss Blonde wanted to tell Nyx who she was, where she came from and how she got to where she was. But there was some shame in that, she had been the one to hand power over to crazed nationalist dictator and have kids killed. She was the type of person that Nyx would of tried to stop, but all those acts she did in the line of duty, right? Regardless though of the circumstances Miss Blonde could at least share her first name with the kid, wasn't too much harm in it.

"My name is Patricia, and you look good with your hair down and out of that old hood. You should wear it less." Miss Blonde said with a chuckle.

Looking over to her right the waiter returned with the drinks and lined up the shots for the two women before setting the rum and coke down for Miss Blonde. Taking out a few bills of the local currency miss blonde tipped the woman a few hundred credits then sent her on her way. But seeing Nyx's youth reminded her of her younger days and made her want to play a game for nostalgia's sake.

"You ever play a game called Never Have I Ever?" Miss Blonde said with a smile as she sipped at her rum based drink.

Hopefully Nyx would take up the game and they could have a little fun.

When the shots came, Nyx eyed them with apprehension. She'd only gotten drunk once, back at Honorhall, when she was thirteen. One of the other girls had gotten a hold of a bottle, and it got passed around the dorm. It was one of the few happy memories she had of her time at the orphanage, one of the few times she had laughed and smiled with her fellow wards. Though the headache the next day was not as much fun, which was why she was apprehensive.
Nyx had a very rigid schedule, and didn't like to deviate from it, but she supposed it had been much too long since the last time she relaxed. Despite her cheery exterior, the stress was getting to her. The things she saw slicing into databases were horrifying at the best of times.

She blushed at [member="Miss Blonde"]'s compliment, rubbing the back of her neck. She wasn't used to receiving compliments, ever. She didn't spend enough time with people for that.
"I played it once, when I was thirteen. Wasn't very saucy, but it was fun. I'll go ahead and go."
She thought for a moment, before smirking.
"Never have I ever lost my virginity."
It was an embarrassing admission, but she knew for a fact it would make Patricia take a drink. Besides, this was all about getting to know each other, right?
