Watching him stare at her from within the shield was maybe the best thing she had seen in a while, except for, well... ahem. But the moment she felt him connect through their bond, and an arm settled around her shoulder seconds later, she sighed. Her shoulders dropped a little, she squinted and she listened to his whisper.

"That's cheating," she said with a huff. "You had to use me to get out, so it doesn't count." She looked up into his eyes, her eyes seemingly serious at first, but then she smirked. Valery bumped her hip in to him when he stepped away from her, and finally focused her senses again. They still had a mission to complete.

"Let's finish it," she agreed, before walking forward to the last set of blast doors. They led directly into the large control room, from where the facility was operated and imperial forces were distributed. So with a tap of her hand, Valery shattered the door into tiny pieces, and inside was... just the Imperial Knight.

Valery blinked, having expected to find some much stronger defenses, but it was just him?

"It's about time," the Imperial Knight in armor said. "Though I was not expecting you. My men had reported you dead, and that the body was disposed off."

Valery's hand clenched into fists.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"The tales of my demise were grossly exaggerated, it seems. There wasn't even a body for them to dispose of." Mostly because he'd been teleported to the Wellspring, but that wasn't exactly a story he was going to share. Better to disrupt his focus by suggesting he had, in fact, been lied to by his subordinates. "Not that I blame them for lying. They just stood there frozen until I decided to leave."

Kahlil stepped in front of Valery, lifting his blade. Keeping a calm smile. He knew her better than anyone. How strong she was, how much she could handle. But even this he couldn't help but feel like it might be too much. For the first time he fully stepped in front of her with the intent to protect. She didn't have to listen to his jabs.

"If only you could do the same, mm?"

The look in Valery's eyes was unlike anything she'd usually ever show. Every part of her being wanted to tear this man apart for even talking about killing her husband, but the worst part was that he had gotten close. He had ordered people to attack not just her, but the man she cared the most about. Her soulmate, her everything.

How dare he stand there like that, mocking them.

But right as Valery felt like she was about to snap, Kahlil stepped in front of her. She had been oblivious to what they said after the Knight's first comments, and everything was hitting her all at once. She knew what he was doing and... lingered somewhere between affection and fear.

This looked an awful lot like that one day.

"Love..." she said, her voice weaker all of a sudden.

The Imperial Knight, however, stood tall and strong. He was no match for the two Jedi Masters, and he certainly knew that. Yet, there was no fear or hesitancy. Either he had a plan, or he had accepted his fate.

"It seems even the strongest Jedi can be scared," he said, having picked up on the emotions in Valery. "Are you afraid I'll take him from you again?" He taunted, but Valery didn't respond. She pushed down everything she felt, and reached forward to briefly take her husband's hand and squeeze it.

"Please, let me fight with you this time."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I wouldn't have it any other way, love."

He flat out ignored the Knight at this point, glancing towards Valery with a warm smile. He returned the squeeze of her hand without hesitation. If she wanted to, he certainly wouldn't stop her. Not with this determination clear in her eyes. Of course, he realized this could very well be a trap.

<Whatever he does, stay close.>

His smile and acceptance gave Valery every bit of strength she needed to step by his side again. Last time, she had been injured and he had told her to leave. To go home and return to Vera, who was waiting for her parents to come back. This time, she was going to be right there with him, and this time, they were both coming home.

The squeeze of his hand was her message to make that clear, and she knew he felt the same way. It was their promise to each other.

<I'm always close,> she said, not really just to be cheesy, but because their bond always kept them very close. Valery then raised her blade, glanced at Kahlil one more time, and then turned her gaze to the Imperial Knight. His lips spread into a grin, and with a fluent motion of his hand, he removed the curved lightsaber hilt from his belt.

A white blade ignited, and his eyes narrowed at the two Jedi while he silently analyzed them both. Despite his lesser strength, danger continued to grow, and tension was rapidly rising in the Force - something was up, but what?

With a wave of his hand, a large metal unit tied to the ventilation shaft was suddenly ripped down, and with immense strength, he threw it straight at Kahlil to initiate the fight, but something else was coming. Something far more dangerous.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil took a single step forward as the slab was launched, bringing his blade up and through it. Molten metal scattered around him as he used the Force to outright send the pieces into the nearby walls in the process, all to eliminate the usage of it further. And, well, because he knew how it looked. Intimidation, fearmongering, it wasn't something he agreed with doing as a Jedi, but there were some foes that were best fought mentally.

And, well, he'd pissed him off.

The Jedi Master lifted a hand, ripping from the walls more of the panels from above, around. A squeeze of a fist, and he sent them flinging right towards the Imperial Knight within the center of it.

"Whatever your trap, spring it already. You know you can't win without it."

Oh my.

Valery looked at Kahlil's show of force and blinked, before staring for just a short moment. He was doing that on purpose, not to show off, but to intimidate with his raw strength in the Force. It wasn't something she really saw him do too often, but this Imperial Knight had definitely pissed them both off a little too much.

A mistake he'd likely regret.

With another feat of great strength, Kahlil ripped apart everything from the ceiling and walls he could find, and launched it at the man with tremendous force. In response, the Imperial Knight moved to evade some of the objects, but his hand came up to summon a barrier to protect himself as well. Still, in the process of dodging, one smaller piece of shrapnel caught his cheek to leave behind a sharp line of blood across it.

"That's not the point, Master Jedi," he said, but before he could add anything to it, Valery was on the move. With a burst of immense speed, she closed the distance, and the two exchanged several blows, before he managed to use his free hand to send Valery flying with a burst of telekinetic energy. She hit the wall of the room with her back with an oomph, but she had used the Force to dampen the blow.

It looked worse than it felt, but she landed on her feet and stared him down. All while that tension was continuing to rise. Something was coming, and it was coming fast. But what?

Then, a voice echoed in Kahlil's mind.

<Up,> his little star told him, and in that moment, he could hear the screaming engines of a group of smaller ships within his mind. A warning from the young Noble.

Kahlil_Div2.png

So there it was. Kahlil brought his blade around for the Imperial as he launched Valery away, but he already knew she'd be fine. What he didn't expect though was Vera. Even across the stars she wasn't going to let them fight alone, huh?

It made since. This was where she lost her father, too. He smiled despite the anger he felt for the Imperial. No, that anger had faded. Instead he appeared beside Valery, forgoing even a lethal blow against the man before him. He reached down to take her hand. "You should be proud of how Vera's grown." As soon as she took his hand, the Force swelled around them. A rune, familiar to only her, formed.

And then they were gone.

He'd decided some time ago to put an anchor on the Bastion, specifically for moments like this. They appeared there, over the anchor he'd long etched into the floor of the Bastion storage area. "Hopefully they'll have just decided to destroy their own base for nothing now."

The Imperial Knight understood that the Jedi had caught on the moment that Kahlil chose to be with his wife, rather than try to strike him down. He looked up at the metal ceiling for a moment, grinned wide and spread his arms wide while he raised them to welcome death for all those inside the facility. He wouldn't survive, but perhaps the Imperial Remnantd could thrive without the Sword and Shield watching each and every move.

"For the Empire-"

And the two Jedi Masters were gone.

They'd never be able to see his reaction, as the grouo of Tie-bomberd flattened the entire facility, but it didn't matter. They had accomplished their little mission, and were back on the Bastion. Where they should have been together all those years ago too.

On arrival, Valery fell into his arms, pulling him close for a tight hug. She wasn't crying or sad anymore, but just happy that all of that was over. She could move on, and she felt stronger because of it. "Our little star, huh?" Valery chuckled. "She chose to reach out to you, but I could hear her too." Valery knew Vera had done it to protect both her parents, but Valery especially. She knew that her father was the one who could get them out of there.

"How uh, are you feeling?" She asked with a gentle smile

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Tired, mostly."

It took a lot out of him to use these runes. Sometimes he really was jealous of the sort of magic Dathomirs could utilize. Still, no time for rest. He smiled, leaned down to kiss her forehead, then turned to sort of rush into the cockpit.

"We gotta get moving though."

Valery smiled warmly when he kissed her forehead, but there was a small look of concern as well. He was exhausted after teleporting them out of there, but they weren't yet safe. She could already feel the incoming danger, as enemy fighters moved to intercept them.

They weren't in the clear just yet.

"I'll get on the guns. Can you still fly us?" She asked before she started running to the turrets. If they'd have to fight their way out, she was going to be ready for it.

Vera was waiting for them, and so was Aris.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Well enough, I imagine."

Kahlil wasn't going to let this day end anywhere close to the same the last did. He rushed to the cockpit to get the Bastion into the air and above the ground. Fighters were already heading their way, so there wasn't time to delay even with how exhausted he felt. The Bastion practically zoomed through the sky as he made a break for space above.

"Just keep em off us while I get the coordinates punched in. We'll bring in the Alliance to make sure this group is cleared out."

Oh she knew he'd get them out of here. There were very few things he couldn't do in the Bastion, and bringing out people he loved was not one of them. They were already making their way up to space, while he dodged incoming fire and positioned the Bastion ideally for her at the same time. Valery, much like him, was not going to lose her focus now. The turret opened up and the two closest enemy fighters were blown apart.

<That's two down!> She called out with a big grin on her face. <Let's go home, love!>

She couldn't wait to see the stars fly by in Hyperspace, knowing what they had just confronted. It wasn't as difficult on him as it had been on her, perhaps, but she was so... full of life now. She couldn't wait to get home and grab Vera, Aris and the triplets and just hug them close.

This family could never be broken.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"You got this, don't you?"

He reached out, patting the dash of the Bastion before punching in the codes. It took to it like a charm. Kahlil couldn't help but grin as he pulled the lever the moment they broke atmosphere and the lines of stars gave way to the blue of Hyperspace. No wasted time, no delay. The Bastion really was factory new now, wasn't it?

Oh.

<.. We're gonna have to get you a new speeder, I think.>

<Are you doubting my skills, babe?>

She grinned and blew apart another pair of enemy incoming fighters, so fast that those that remained were a lot less confident going after the Jedi. But whether or not they did, Kahlil wasn't going to give them another chance to open fire. He had the coordinates locked in, pulled on the hyperspace lever, and they were gone among the stars. Never had Hyperspace felt this great before in her life, and Valery fell back into her seat with a smile that showed it.

But as she began to climb back down from the turret section, she heard his voice and realized something. The speeder... was still at the facility when it got bombed.

<...you didn't teleport it with you? You destroyed it again?> She huffed and entered the cockpit with a pout, while she stared at him from the doorway.

"Oh you're playing with fire now," Valery said, her grin matching his own as she walked over to him and climbed down into his lap. She was definitely a little bit bummed out that the speeder was destroyed, but not because she cared so much about a means of transportation. No, it was because he had put so much effort into rebuilding it for her as a surprise.

Granted, he did destroy it himself the first time around but... she loved that he had rebuilt it for her.

"I'm still blaming you, you know," she said with a grin once she was in his lap, one leg on each side of both of his. "Now I'll have to request something fun and custom. Something.... fast. What do you think?"

"I'll be careful with it, I promise," she said before leaning in to give him a quick peck on the lips. "But I do want to take you out for a ride when I have the new bike. Our new home is really pretty, so why not a little drive around the mountains? Go around the lake and we just enjoy the view together." She had a smug look of her own now, and reached for his hand to squeeze them.

"You'll have to hold on tight though, because I'll be going fast~"

As always, the adrenaline junkie wasn't something she'd even try to hide from him anymore. Even if she tried, he'd see right through it, anyway.

"And you're right. If I damage anything, you can always repair it for me." She smiled innocently now, knowing she was definitely going to damage something he'd have to repair. Luckily, he had destroyed her speeder the first time, so she'd use that as ammo against him. Just for this teasing battle.
